This is a Freisian Horse, yes. If you listen carefully you can hear the slapping of a whip, or stick in the background... Also, the wringing of the tail, tells you the horses is uncomfortable, and agitated.. Yes, horses use their tails for balance, but this isn't it. Also, in a TRUE Piaffe, the horse sits on his haunches, shortens his base, by moving the hind to the front, and lifts in the shoulders.. This horse has done none of this, he is only moving his legs... VERY incorrectly done...

How is this barbaric? I go every Sunday to one and I'm helping out with the bulls, they get treated like kings. Unlike in American "rodeos", we work one on one with the bulls to get them ready and prepared. And the horse tripping is another one of our most famous and beautiful traditions. I'm not to good at riding horses yet but I do know that these animals are not abused.For example Pasi Fino horses naturally walk like this but the legs go a little faster(I'm learning to ride paso fino)and a lot of people think that they are abused when they are in fact not.Plus this horse is not being abused trust me.These horses get better care than people do.
One more thing, this is a Friesian horse. They were bred to be able to trot for long distances carrying/pulling heavy loads. They are not your typical horse; their limbs are very strong. This horse looks fit and powerful, i don't think this will be very strenuous for him.
Sometimes when horses get excited they do things they were trained to do as a means of rebelling or getting rid of their energy. For example, i trained my horse to do rein-back and now he uses it to be naughty if he's feeling in a bad mood. If you ask me, this horse does not look scared he looks like he's full of life and raring to go.
as a rider of many styles including english, western, and driving, I know horses. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the piaffe if it is done in moderation. I also know that prolonged activities of this nature are very harmful to the horses joints like the hocks and pasterns. I also believe being under this kind of stress cannot be good for the horses psychological well being. There is nothing wrong with training or "sending a horse to school" but this is more like prison than school..

Given some trainers are harsh with training them to do this, this horse is not being whipped at all. You can tell someone is behind him tapping/snapping a whip to keep the dance going but never do you see the end of the whip at all in the video.

Everybody that knows something about horses can see that this is not right. Even the Spanish Riding School doesn't train their horses between pillars anymore, they have said that they realised pillars were way to harsh.
I have horse Arabians,registered quartermiles,Aztecs, and quarter mile mixed with a mustang.I teach horses how to dance(what the horse is doing in the video) I ride daily I don't hurt my horses I am against animal cruelty but daily I saddle each of them and I tie them to poles for 7 hours so the get use to the saddle and when I ride them it won't be anything new to them i grew up with horses i know what's right and wrong to do with them I suggest you learn a little more about the subject.
@MRVIDALRAMIREZ tying horses to poles for 7 hours is cruelty, even if there is feed and avalible grazing it is wrong. Horses are supposed to move, with out it they will not have sufficient muscle sturcture for you to actually be able to ride them. I have also grown up with horses and i do understand people do things differently but a person with any sense would not tie a horse up for an extended period of time under any circumstance.
@elizabethfurniss i know personally that tying a horse for 3-7 hrs does not damage a horses muscle structure my family has been doing it for generations & hasnt had any problem what so ever we tie them with enough space so they can move we dont restrict their movement we tie them so they dont leave we tie them we dont ride so that they become used to being saddled so that when we do ride its not any thing new to them and dont buck us off trust me in the old west they also tied horses to poles.

@andreyes1219 Is tieing an animal to a pole and having it do an exercise that could potentially ruin it's muyscle structure, and movement, good for it? No does it train it? no! Yes I agree training is perfectly normal, when you're actually training; that however is far from it. Go tie yourself to a pole and do that for a long time, then come and talk to me. Horses are not built to stand in one place their structre, the slope of their shoulders EVERYTHING about them is for moving in a direction.

This is obviously NOT a happy horse! Who ever "trained" this horse has no idea how to properly train a horse. Look how his ears are always back and his tail is constantly swishing. Just because he does these dressage moves doesn't mean that he enjoys it or was properly taught how. This is sick, and people who believe this is okay, a good idea, or how you train a horse should not be allowed to handle horses...and have some learning to do.
Okay, horse dancing is not a Piaffe in the dressage sense...either way, I hope they let the horse relax and extend after this...it's rather hard on the legs and feet. The Spanish Riding School in Vienna does work between poles too but not for this length of time. In India I've seen dancing horses working for extended periods too. Seems excessive.

This is a Freisian Horse, yes. If you listen carefully you can hear the slapping of a whip, or stick in the background... Also, the wringing of the tail, tells you the horses is uncomfortable, and agitated.. Yes, horses use their tails for balance, but this isn't it. Also, in a TRUE Piaffe, the horse sits on his haunches, shortens his base, by moving the hind to the front, and lifts in the shoulders.. This horse has done none of this, he is only moving his legs... VERY incorrectly done...

I'm a professional horse person in the USA. This is NOT a Piaffe, nor is this proper or humane training. I've seen some horrible handling, and training of your horses. I'm not to good at riding horses yet but I do know that these animals are not abused.For example Pasi Fino horses naturally walk like this but the legs go a little faster(I'm learning to ride paso fino)and a lot of people think that they are abused when they are in fact not.Plus this horse is not being abused trust me.These horses get better care than people do.

One more thing, this is a Friesian horse. They were bred to be able to trot for long distances carrying/pulling heavy loads. They are not your typical horse; their limbs are very strong. This horse looks fit and powerful, i don't think this will be very strenuous for him.

For example, i trained my horse to do rein-back and now he uses it to be naughty if he's feeling in a bad mood. as a rider of many styles including english, western, and driving, I know horses. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the piaffe if it is done in moderation. I also know that prolonged activities of this nature are very harmful to the horses joints like the hocks and pasterns. I also believe being under this kind of stress cannot be good for the horses psychological well being. There is nothing wrong with training or "sending a horse to school" but this is more like prison than school..

Given some trainers are harsh with training them to do this, this horse is not being whipped at all. You can tell someone is behind him tapping/snapping a whip to keep the dance going but never do you see the end of the whip at all in the video.

I have horse Arabians,registered quartermiles,Aztecs, and quarter mile mixed with a mustang.I teach horses how to dance(what the horse is doing in the video) I ride daily I don't hurt my horses I am against animal cruelty but daily I saddle each of them and I tie them to poles for 7 hours so the get use to the saddle and when I ride them it won't be anything new to them i grew up with horses i know what's right and wrong to do with them I suggest you learn a little more about the subject.

Horses are supposed to move, with out it they will not have sufficient muscle sturcture for you to actually be able to ride them. I have also grown up with horses and i do understand people do things differently but a person with any sense would not tie a horse up for an extended period of time under any circumstance.

I bet this video ran for more than it showed, that poor horse was probably out there slamming away for 5 or more minutes it just doesn't show it because it was probably off a phone!

This is obviously NOT a happy horse! Who ever "trained" this horse has no idea how to properly train a horse. Look how his ears are always back and his tail is constantly swishing. Just because he does these dressage moves doesn't mean that he enjoys it or was properly taught how. This is sick, and people who believe this is okay, a good idea, or how you train a horse should not be allowed to handle horses...and have some learning to do.

Okay, horse dancing is not a Piaffe in the dressage sense...either way, I hope they let the horse relax and extend after this...it's rather hard on the legs and feet. The Spanish Riding School in Vienna does work between poles too but not for this length of time. In India I've seen dancing horses working for extended periods too. Seems excessive.
