Bushcraft : Char without a tin

I appreciate this video is a year old and you may have changed your technique but in case you have not can I make a suggestion to you. If you hold you knife in the other hand and place your hand on the ground you can then pull the ferro rod away. This will allow you to get your sparks closer to your tinder and without the risk of disturbing it. Especailly usefull when using fine tinders. Great video channel by the way. Sean 'The Silver Fox'.

are you only using white wood to this ?

Yeah, the white punk works the best. What I used on this one was Sycamore white punk but I've heard of people using oak and some other harder woods.
