there was a vid on youtube about some history on that, and how its not really true that most houses here are built that way lol, though alot are, i remember it saying that it was indeed to keep the cost down, the wooden houses are supposed to be just as stirdy and last just as long, but that all depends on the wood they use, i assume the same goes for brick homes, you can get better quality materials if you are willing ot pay more?
