And, until he died I thought he was mistaken about the very existance of this film. Believing that AHDN was the first Beatle film. In 2009 I had got to evaluate a cache of Beatle films procured from an infamous collector and there it was..The Beatles Come to Town should be in CinemaScope. 50% of the image is missing, But thanks for posting this extremely rare documentary.

@spudtu don't be a dufus. Jazz purists (like myself) understand the mechanics of melody and harmony and absolutely recognize the greatness of Lennon & McCartney song writing. Those songs are among the most popular to cover and arrange for jazz. There are some extreme conservatives, especially in the south, who believe The Beatles destroyed the post WWII Western social order. That's your 2%. Jazz musicians/purists KNOW good writing when they hear it.

I was 10 years old when the Beatles came to America and the one thing I remember most about them was that we loved them. I mean WE FUCKING LOVED THEM. The girls screamed their heads off alright but the boys loved them too.Not only their music but them also. They were Gods in the making and now they are Gods forever.

George thought he might have to hang up his axe and go get a job in a shop or something. But by 1963 or so, after a big concert, they were taken to a receiving area after the show, where even the rich and upper-class treated them so deferentially that Paul did say later, "It was like we were fucking Gods."
It was December 1963, and I was in the Roxy Theater, Clarksville,Tn. with some friends to watch a movie and see this film clip. I was 12 years old and had only heard about Beatles. The clip went on the screen, and Beatlemania came to our area as the girls were in full scream the whole time. They were as into it as were the girls on the filmclip. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND A GREAT TIME! THE BEATLES ARE THE NO.1 VERY BEST! BEATLEMANIA STILL LIVES ON IN QUIETER FASHION!

You know what's nice about this, there are no flashing lights or fireworks needed onstage! The people came to watch the Beatles, and that's what they got!!! Just four guys on stage, playing and singing their hearts out!! That's all you should need! I didn't miss the point! Read and learn. Very simple, live performances were so ridiculously loud w/ screaming fans, NO ONE COULD HEAR THEM! They couldn't hear themself! Beatles mentioned this often in interviews. Sound systems, monitors, mics weren't much then. Early live performances were terrible sounding. This video's audio is highly edited (not live). Beatles never were a live touring band but more a studio band. You say this captures "Beatlemania", screaming? LOL!

I just wanted to refer to the people who used to go to the Cavern before the Beatles arrived. A lot in that crowd did think that the Beatles were polluting the atmosphere there. I would bet it was more than 2% at the time. I'm sure many came to like the Beatles later. And I'm sure it really is only 2% now. Still baffles me, though.

I was 10 years old when the Beatles came to America and the one thing I remember most about them was that we loved them. I mean WE FUCKING LOVED THEM. The girls screamed their heads off alright but the boys loved them too.Not only their music but them also. They were Gods in the making and now they are Gods forever.

@Appleholic1 I was a 10 yo fan also. Just imagine, these guys a couple years earlier, when they got back from Hamburg, couldn't even find a gig for a while. George thought he might have to hang up his axe and go get a job in a shop or something. But by 1963 or so, after a big concert, they were taken to a receiving area after the show, where even the rich and upper-class treated them so deferentially that Paul did say later, "It was like we were fucking Gods."

It was December 1963, and I was in the Roxy Theater, Clarksville,Tn. with some friends to watch a movie and see this film clip. I was 12 years old and had only heard about Beatles. The clip went on the screen, and Beatlemania came to our area as the girls were in full scream the whole time. They were as into it as were the girls on the filmclip. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND A GREAT TIME! THE BEATLES ARE THE NO.1 VERY BEST! BEATLEMANIA STILL LIVES ON IN QUIETER FASHION!

You know what's nice about this, there are no flashing lights or fireworks needed onstage! The people came to watch the Beatles, and that's what they got!!! Just four guys on stage, playing and singing their hearts out!! That's all you should need! Today, pretty much all big name acts use all kinds of distractions in their show to take your mind away from the fact that there is no real content being presented onstage by the performers!!

However you should know that not all liked Beatles. E.g african americans generally didn't care much about that band. Part of the Beatles hype could be also a bit of british self-importance. Actually Phil Spector and Motown could have been more important for pop music than Beatles.

I didn't miss the point! Read and learn. Very simple, live performances were so ridiculously loud w/ screaming fans, NO ONE COULD HEAR THEM! They couldn't hear themself! Beatles mentioned this often in interviews. Sound systems, monitors, mics weren't much then. Early live performances were terrible sounding. This video's audio is highly edited (not live). Beatles never were a live touring band but more a studio band. You say this captures "Beatlemania", screaming? LOL!

They toured from 1960 until 1966. Granted the Hamburg years where where they learned how to get it right. They had horrid sound at their live shows.. doesn't help when they didn't have feedback speakers. The screaming, the wet seats at the movie theatres, jelly babies, that was Beatlemania..

This was mentioned by the Beatles in interviews many times. They're not great moments in live performances. You've been yammering on about YOU and how it changed your life. I DON'T CARE. When you saw the Beatles in concert.. that was it.. literally.. but I would have given an arm, and possibly for that experience.
