Wasim was nt just a gr8 fast bowler but a gud captain as well, he was the one who never let the absence of Imran Khan be felt. But alas,captains from subcontinent esp India and Pak never get their due, be it Wasim or Ganguly. Our own media never backs our captain but finds fault compared to the West (Eng,NZ,Aus,SA,even WI)where they back them till the end. He was more than handy with the bat and could have easily batted up the order. It would hav been exciting if he wud hav played T20. Ind fan

If Wasim akram was brought back in time, could he take 500+ wickets with the cameras being everywhere? The moment technology became advanced, waqar went out of form and so did wasim.. @leedenzel bradman got an average of 99 in test cricket.he played 56 testsof which he played more then 40 against england. if he would come back in this time is he going to score again at the same rate.just look at the time in which particular player played &what was his performance at that time and remember if someone come from third world country and he achieved more than firstworld country player than its mean he is something.

@leedenzel when pakistanis use to reverse the ball English use to say they are cheat in 1990s and when they won ashes 2005 by doing same thing they say its an art it was a propaganda use by england because they cant handle reverse swing but when they understand they and whole world say its an art so my friend lee it is an art and WASIM is master of it IF he comes at any time he will get the same number of wickets.

@myjkyz87 Thats also a nice point but I disagree on that one.. see England used reverse swing in ashes that time we had good amount of technology to check whether the ball was tampered or not bt when Wasim and Waqar bhai were playing that time we did not have the technology to catch them. Also Wasim and Waqar bhai swung the ball like crazy, much more than flintoff, hoggard and jones so that raises the issue, can pak bowlers swing now like they used to? or would they need to tamper the ball?

You are misguiding. Wasim's 110 dismissals are in ODI whereas others are in Tests.

Though when we combine all the tests, ODI and T20 dismissals, then Wasim Akram leads. He dismissed 189 batsmen for ducks, McGrath 176, Muralitharan 157, Waqar Younis 148 and Shane Warne 132. But Waqar bowled only 4820 overs whereas others stats are as follows: Wasim 6802, McGrath 7044, Warne 8557 and Muralitharan 10016.

So read my txt again that Mcgrath dismissed 104 and Wasim dismissed 110 in ODI .. and Waqar had very long run up so he used to get exuasted so thats y he cudnt bowl the same kind of amount like Wasim or Mcgrath.

No mate, read it again. McGrath's 104 dismissals are in tests not ODI's. Whereas Wasim's 110 are in ODI. You are comparing ODI dismissals of one player with Test dismissals of another player.

You can compare Mcgrath with Donald, lilee, etc And anyway I wont compare Wasim to anyone just because of his variety and sheer talent and the way his bowling was with more than 6 different varieties. We all know that the world will not produce another bowler like Wasim Akram, he is my greatest bowler of any time.

Fast bowling is being destroyed by making flat batting freindly wickets or very slow tracks. Now a days in how many matches we see green wicket? This is one big reason that we are not seeing any real fast bowling after Waqar and Wasim departed. To save the real fast bowling we need green pitches in all formats of the game, not every match but regularly, or else fast bowl is gone.

He was quick wasn't he - no speed guns back then but he looked 150kph+. And swung it both ways. Because of his short run he could bowl long spells as well. And could bat! One of the all time greats.
