  • The world would be a better place if everyone listened to AIC.

  • I know somethin' bout 2 ppl. they suck ass.

  • Yeah baby, memories of high school, shitty times, but some good weed, long hair and not giving a fuck what anybody said about it.

  • again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00 and again 0:00

  • RIP Layne Staley and Mike Starr !

Mike always blamed himself for Staley's death cus he didn't call 911 on 4th April,a day before he died..

  • love the bass line in this song!!!

  • reminds me a bit of Extreme.

great chunking riffs by Cantrell ad haunting vocals by Layne.

  • These 4 dudes left us some great music to store in our hearts and thoughts!

  • All I know is I got a big dick and Alice in Chains is the shit.

  • This is a fucking awesome thread of comments. I was born in '81 in NY... when I was 14 ('95) I found AiC. I fell in love. I didn't know what to call it and didn't care. But I was too young for shows, too young to be involved with any other fans really. I wished I was older, wished I was on the other coast, but it was too damn bad lol... So I really don't know much about the scene or the way it sprung up or when 'grunge' was coined. AiC FEELS differently than any other band. That's all I know.

  • @wildmntnhoney27 You think you're unlucky? I was one year old when this stuff was coming out. I lived just south of seattle, and my dad played their stuff all the time so it got ingrained in my mind. i was WAY too young for shows. But I would have gone if I could have. I still wear my dad's AiC tour 94 shirt everyday. (the year I was born)

  • undoubtedly my fav song right now. The tempo change is fucking "HNNNGGG"

  • Funk + Grunge= HOLY FUCKIN GOODNESS!!

  • This is a awesome music one of my favourite of AIC and on my favourite album lol

    ty for a beatiful post

  • i love ,, BLAH! '' in 0:26

  • who is baby gaga? huh? oh, excuse me, my bad , lady gaga.........ok who the fuck is that?

  • @0418gmw its a shemale who likes to gaga on meat

  • THE VOICE IS REALLY COOL..

  • @juan13579run He was one of a kind vocally, unfortunately all those die young

  • @juan13579run That, my friend, is Layne. The God of Grunge.

  • RIP Mike Starr

  • R.I.P Mike Starr

  • The guitar kinda sounds like Led Zeppelin.

  • most underrated song in the aic catalog

  • 2 people stopped using heroin

  • @psychotichealth11 totally... TOTALLY agree dude, this got me through so many ugly patients.

  • RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS

  • I really think Jerry is the master of writing music.

    Guitar parts: Perfect

    Bass: Perfect

    Drums: Perfect

    Vocals: More than perfect

The way the vocals are layered in the chorus is just so special.

  • this song sounds a lot like a gun n roses songer, just a little more gritty and darker

  • Okay, I guess all you fuckers are brain dead so allaow me to elaborate on the point I thought I had made clear the first time. I have a problem with the WORD "GRUNGE" because it's just a fucking bullshit title made up by some corporate record producer to sell records to all the stupid fucking cattle out there that need a trend to feel accepted. I hate anyone that uses it to refer to the awesome bands of the 90's. Just call it 90's music instead.

  • @thekorn51 Agreed 100%

Grunge was flannel shirts and shitty ripped jeans selling for hundreds of dollars at the "trend" stores.

The whole thing pissed me off.

The music was just great fuckin music, most of it comming from seatle , it was seperated from the cali sound that was popular at the time and geographicly it was kinda cut off so they made their own style.

I'd dare say had you called Mother Love Bone a grunge band back in the day you'd get punched in the face.

    Well said, Sir.

  • Producer? No . Locals of the seatle scene made it up . and its a word to describe the uniqness if their music . they all had their own style . their own type of Music . and they were all tied into the seatlle scene . its like Pop . theres a million different sounds of pop . but they all tye together .

  • @69JBTV No, the media and corporations made it up in order to sell flannel shirts to angsty teens for a hundred bucks. The word Grunge was likely to get you punched in the face. True story.

  • Grunge is a bullshit label slapped on music in the 90's so they could generalize it and sell it. Like a brand name. The only name Alice will ever carry is Alice. Fuck the word grunge. A real fan will agree with this. If you don't..... Suck my fat hairy cock and cup the balls bitch.

  • @thekorn51 I'm kinda hesitant to agree with you, but I get the feeling you're right. There's a HUGE difference between Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. But they are all mostly from the seattle area, and they were all friends (except Nirvana, they told everyone else to go fuck themselves).

  • @thekorn51 Everything has to be categorized dude.Everything that exists must fall under some statistic, category, generalization. It's the way of the universe.

  • @GBallaJ Who says it HAS to be???? Music is free. It's pure. It's dumb shits like you that just follow the trends. You're just another sheep among the masses waiting to be slaughtered. Wake up man. Music is just music. Plain and simple.

  • @thekorn51 So you know what you're looking for. To me, the only band that fits the word Grunge that ever went mainstream is Alice in Chains. Dirty, Gritty, Powerful. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were rock bands, and I don't care what you want to say about Nirvana.

  • @Eifler121 I agree with this... XD and long live alice in chains... RIP LAYNE take another hit and bury our brother

  • @Eifler121 Aic is to much metal to be grunge, and i know soundgarden is kinda metal to but still grunge

  • @Ekyvvsaq Grunge isnt a Type of Music . its a Uniqe rating sort of thing . like they had their own style and they had a dark version of metal . witch ties them to being grunge . go listen to their album "alice and Chains" try and tell me that doseny SCREAM grunge at you

  • @GBallaJ it's not the way of the universe, it's the way of judgemental human beings. We have to be able to compare things.

  • @thekorn51 Why dont you go suck yourself instead? Alice in Chains are more of a alternative metal band, but they sounded to weird compared to 80's metal, thats why it was labeled grunge, talkin bout Pj, Sg and Nirvana there is a clear similarity, they all mix distorted guitars, guiet-loud-qiuet song construction, 60's classic rock, 70's hard rock and 80s punk. Everyone I show grunge to say all the songs sound kinda similar. Seems like you were wrong

  • Hey everyone, would you kindly check my bass cover in the video comments, there's also the link for the tab I've done in it. And by the way, freakin awesome song.

  • WHat year did this come out?

  • @Eifler121 1990. it was on Facelift

  • This song came out a few years before grunge was labeled "GRUNGE" This is called talentted, individualism! People loved it then, and people will love it now. This whole album kicked serious ass back in 91 LOVED IT always will.

  • different from their usual stuff but still awesome!

  • Layne did his impression of Phil Anselmo at 0:27 xD

  • I think alot of people who werent born in seattle or washington didnt really understand where grunge was coming from.

  • @suicidekidz100 I think you are exactly right about people not from Seattle not getting it...

  • this is one of the most fun songs to play on guitar ever. i suggest that everybody who plays learns it.

  • 2 people need to DIE

  • this aic song has a funky guitar beat.

  • this is one hell of a mix...lol ... luv it...

  • Apposed to most people, I see this more of Funk metal.

  • I hated this song cause the intro but i forced myself to listen to it all and it IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • holy shit that snare has some mighty 90's style reverb on it. almost TOO much.

  • ya know, all the preppy people look down on us, for listenin to amazing shit like this, while theyre listenin to "lil wayne" or some pop shit like that...that stuff everyone listens 2 ta look cool. and they're the ones thats missing out, cause this is classic baby! and it will never get old... And not to mention Alice, or any grunge for that matter, helps get me through the hardest times in my life... especially when it involves all those assholes from school

  • @KoRnKid2011 you said it all man, and then some,

long live Punk, Grunge, Metalheads, and Indie music AND kids

  • So funky, but grunge.May be a bit of funk rock.

  • they actually were a funk band before layne joined lol

  • Fuck! This is so exceptionally funky! Pretty extraordinary in relation to what AIC do usually.

  • @Floipster You should check out Swing on This from the Jar of Flies album, more jazzy than funk, though with a southern twang, and a dash of deliciously sinister Cantrell discordant riffing, just another testament to their ability to make a broad spectrum of musical styles their own. Whew went on a bit there,I could kiss this bands ass all day!

  • I had no friends, can't say I still do but alice..they, its hard to explain, their music really helped me through and it still does...I honestly do look up to layne a lot. rip...they were my real friends and will forever be...

  • I fucking love this..I remember when I was 20/21, I would walk to college and just sing and dance away to this. in my radio class, I would blast alice songs, and I was rocking the chair to this! ha...fuck, I love alice!

  • were u sittin in the angry chair?

  • Great Tune!!

  • This is one of my favorites by AIC

  • I remember hearing this funky song for the first time. I had my ipod on shuffle and the opening riff started playing, and i thought to myself "Hey it's the Red Hot Chili Peppers". All of a sudden i hear Layne's voice....Definitely not RHCP haha.

    Alice in Chains rocks.

    Long live the 90's.

  • @SuperUnknown712 ... Yup, first time I heard this song and thought "RHCP but better and more raw". Shows off Mike Starr's (not Inez right?) skills slappin da bass...too bad he's in celebrity rehab and doing terribly. Sad site to see...

  • he's out now

  • why does that riff sound so goddamn familiar!

  • on your face!!!! i know something! in my spaceeeee!!! i know somethin!!!!!!! that chorus its mind blowin

  • Killer Drums Especially On The Hook...

    \m/

  • My favourite Chains song!

  • Lady gaga sucks! This song is timeless! long live grunge

  • i'll drink to tha

  • @julieweirdo97 Why do people like you come to a video like this and type the names of some shitty artist. If it wasn't for people like you I wouldn't have to even think of that shit.

  • Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP, and mostly a lot of grunge rock made going through high school very bearable, these types of songs I would just listen to on my iPod as I walked to or from school, or when I wanted to vent. Long live grunge bands. \m/

  • i only wish we had ipods when I was in highschool and this shit first came out!

  • for heaven sake i didn't say it about layne,

    layne is the best!!!

  • epic bassline o.o

  • AIC is the best... this song Fucking Rules

  • Alice in Chains for ever man \m/

  • It's The Better Song ! \m/

    Grunge Forever !

  • What the hell? Funky grunge? Does this really exist? Or am I just dreaming? :D

This is too good to be true man, I mean I LOVE both grunge and funk! AIC is even more fantastic than I ever thought!

  • jajajaja I use the same word "Funky Grunge" so sick its great

  • @RATMfan92 before Layne Staly and Jerry Cantrell formed AIC they worked on a Funk Project together

  • @NeoFreeWorld Really? I've never heard of it. That's great :D

  • @RATMfan92 Two words - Blind Melon

and check out my RATM covers

  • @RATMfan92 Sorry that's on the channel rastafunktofu

  • @RATMfan92 listen vs from pearl jam it got some funky stuff

  • @hilliuno I have the VS album and it's amazing! Rats and Go are my fav tracks ;)

  • @RATMfan92 HAHAHAAHHAAHA they are great!!!

  • @RATMfan92 they did for grunge what pantera did for metal. power groove metal, AIC did power groove grunge with this album

  • @RATMfan92 you just made my top 5 favorite youtube comments of all time.

  • @RATMfan92 hopefully there will be more dreams like this one...

  • @RATMfan92 Alice in Chains were more glam rock, metal their first album. Not really grunge.

  • @RATMfan92 hell yea man....

  • @RATMfan92 I dont think the band would be all that impressed by being limited by such labels. Show me where any member refered to themselves as a grunge band.

  • @RATMfan92 beautiful marriage aint it

  • @RATMfan92 ever heard of Blind Melon?

  • Jerry's not the technically best, nor was Layne, but they had the "IT" factor, fer Goddamned sure.

  • fuck Layne was good...fucking amazing actually. My favorite vocalist by far and Alice is definitely my fave band. Layne could sing the fucking alphabet and still sound great haha rest in peace my friend

  • Fuckin'.........A.

  • Layne is by far my favorite vocalist, but I think Mike McCready has surpassed Jerry as my favorite guitarist. But I would love to see Kim Thayil, Mike McCready and Jerry Cantrell all jam together.

  • @ComaAlpha What? Don't you realize how dangerous that would be? All faces within a 5 mile radius would be irreparably melted.

  • The way Jerry plays guitar in song is insane

  • so groovy ...wohoo love this! alice certainly was versatile..my fairytale love story, queen of the rodeo...they can be funny, serious..everything...I love them

  • Funk Metal?! I never Alice in Chains was so versatile

  • what a great song, love them, best voice ever

  • One of their most underrated songs in my opinion.

  • i really really love to play this on drums ...

    THX!!

  • now you make me wish i still had my drum kit

  • you say MexicanoINC - I say SPAM.

Type something thoughtful or don't type a damn thing.

  • you listend kayne west.. kill yourself. Just had to state that again.

    MOTHA FUCKIN GAY FISH LOL

  • you are simply typing in the same format of comparison that about a million others are doing on here. the real AIC fans are marking you as spam.

  • You're a faggot for posting that list, but you didn't reach retarded moron level until you listened kayne west, go die.

CUZ I'M A MOTHA FUCKIN GAY FISH

^ all anyone needs to say about kayne west

Also this song rocks, but so does 99.9% of AiC songs so don't really need to say anything :D.

  • So when I refer to Kanye I should back up my opinion w/ the statement "

CUZ I'M A MOTHA FUCKIN GAY FISH"? You have some nerve calling someone else a retarded moron.

    Kanye>Your pointless existence

I really have to stop reading these comments, fucking hell! All I wanted was a bit of AiC!!!!!

  • You like kayne west, therefor showing you're a weak scrub with no taste in music and no real intelligence. Yo i'm kayne west i'm gonna talk about the ghetto whne i'm some gaudy retard who trys to claim to the be VOICE OF THE GENERATION when all he does is lip sync and auto tune, lol @ talentless gay fish aka kayne west. Go suck his dick or something, while you're at it hit up the michael jackson bandwagon because you're definately one of those faggots.

  • Hahaha lol @ linking musical taste to intelligence, which you clearly lack as you have an inability to type and spell like an intelligent being.

You seem to have a fixation with homosexuality as well, are you uncomfortable with your seual orientation?

  • *sexual.

sorry i had to do it

  • tss, music that is in the charts does not always mean its bad. you have to learn to accept music even it's not your taste. and please dont just say "You like kayne west you got no taste in music and no real intelligence" or somethin likethat

  • "george bush doesnt care about black people"

can you belive he said that on an aid program for hurricane katrina on live tv with the entire country watching?

  • he's an idiot.

  • This entire album is completely underrated actually.

  • this AiC song is way underrated.

like seriously.. it could have done as well as lithium by Nirvana

  • why does everyone has to compare AIC to NIRVANA seriously dude it gets old shut the fuck up about it...there 2 completely different bands

  • im not trying to compare Alice in Chains to Nirvana as in who is better, im just saying i think AiC should have gotten more airplay, and had many underrated songs.

  • well you shoulda said that to begin with...and i dont think it was cuz one band was better i think it was becuase most people say that NIRVANA founded grunge...but thats not really true its bands like the wipers and fang that started it but...nirvana perfected it...kinda took over a whole generation of dysfunctional people i guess you could say...lets just agree there both great

  • He probably got the idea because you, me, and everyone else who knows the genre, knows that AiC and Nirvana are both one of the great Seatlle grunge bands.

  • You say fucking shit - I say shut the fuck up and go listen to your music...

for all the rest... rip layne! alice in chains fucking rock

  • haha no kidding!

  • dude! love it!

first you think "hey this is gonna be some kind of groovy hard rock song" but than staley goes like "uaaahr" and you know whats really going on.. its the real shit!

  • Yeah but I fucking love the bass, I love this shit

  • danialmaker85 your full of shit m8.... nothin like g and r....they take the cock... mon alice...

  • I am not refering to this song at all (only the beginning) so well if you know so much about alice in chains, seems as you haven´t listen the songs: "social parasite" or " i can´t have you blues" to see the influence...INFLUENCE just that, and that´s why many grunge bands started as hard rock or heavy metal bands, and I found nothing bad on it, for me both styles were good

  • this comment was for "hightwo" only

  • What were you saying about the beginning?

  • I was saying that the beginning of the song reminds me of an 80´s hard rock song...only the first minute before the chorus

  • Because AIC discovered their sound IN THE 80's dammit. Have you not heard this entire album?

  • Am I wrong, or old school Alice in Chains sounds kinda like GNR?

  • i'd say you're wrong...

  • They definitely have a few songs reminiscent of GnR, totally. To deny this just means you're not listening to the music. Heavily influenced

  • I concure

  • Facelift has so much underrated music and this song proves it.

  • yep, facelift is aic's second best album, next to dirt.

  • props to that zonaldo, they are one of my top influential bands that keep me shredding

  • its a simple riff but the song still kicks ass!

  • just learning about aic from my fiancee and it fukin kicks ass motherfuckerin bitches

  • LMFAO...Meat head

    these comments r too hilarious!!

    Good song for sure tho..

  • the best musical talent to ever grab a mic!!!!

  • AIC, one of the most influential rock bands in the past 20 years.

  • i concure bud influenced me so much i even named my son layne

  • you're smart. I named my boy: Alice... poor boy.

  • lol atleast he should grow up to not be a puss

  • i don't know how... its in another key! maybe the rhythm?

  • ya,and the guitar.
