  • the fun stops around 4:00 when he say: let's have some clean :) ...joke aside...the best sounding demo of sonic maximizer on you tube...great job

  • Can you tell me everything you have and what you have in the effects loop?

  • Is the Maximizer or the EQ midi switchable?

  • hey man how much cost this one ???

  • Guitarrack?Have you ever tried the 462 version?I had 1 with the ADAMP1/Peavey Classic 60/60 & 100 watt cabs.If you aren't running 25 watt Celestion Greenbacks I suggest it highly. That high end fizzle migh be atributed to house wiring and type of lighting.Guitar gear is screwy.Grab yourself a rack Marshall tube power amp and really see what happens.Keep rockin' and thanx for showing everyone the BBE and your cool gear.I'm envious. :-))

  • a question. why to put on bbe maximizer, when you can get the same if you up your eq?

  • @ersemola my sentiments exactly.

also ,since the EQ unit is a dynamic 'effect' i would imagine it to be better situated INSERTED into the signal chain as opposed to be set in series in the FX loop

  • @Aaronmcgrattan Well most FX loops are configuered in series anyways, meaning it cuts the signal chain when you inserts effects. I grant you, if it was a parallel FX loop what you said is the best option.

  • What kind of cables are you suppose to run through the back? Balanced or un balanced, instrument etc.? Im new to this by the way.

  • @mastervg15 I was just using regular guitar pedal patch cables.

  • @Guitarrack ok im clueless to the sonics maximizer but is this like a boost pedal or a compressor or are they different

  • Great powerfull crunch. Are you welsh?

  • Excuse me, do you connect the bbe through effect loop ?.

  • i enjoyed this

  • Much better WITHOUT the BBE. When playing U can hear & feel the acoustic properties of the instrument more deeply W/O it. Most fans of BBE units in a guitar rig R attracted to the enhanced perception (deception) of the clarity of high end. I prefer to use an EQ to dial in the highs; BBE kills natural dynamics.

I used a BBE for years but something was missing. I always thought it was the amp until I trashed the BBE, dialed in better highs on an EQ. Now tone is AWESOME without unatural artifacts.

  • Hey could you pm me explaining how you connected your eq to your rig?

  • @inubis121 In the effects loop of the JMP-1. In series, at the end of the chain. Hope this helps.

  • I liked it best when both were on.

  • Do you have leprechauns in your land?

  • @quinnmyster er, that would be Ireland your thinking of. He's from England. Google is your friend :)

  • @deltafit haha.. Well it's hard for me to determine an Irish or English accent. Don't hear it too often. Plus.. there's different styles of their accents, depending on where they are in their country.

  • The bbe is defintitly a plus!

  • Hello m8, thanks for effort i want to add though you are not doing a proper A/B comparison, you have to get exactly the same volume.. And then compare.. But once again thank you for your effort.. Vibes N Best wishes from here

  • @derekbee This wasn't meant to be a video comparing the Sonic Max with the EQ. It was to simply let you hear what it/they sounded like both engaged, and turned off.

  • Should you be running the sonic maximiser after the EQ?

  • whats the difference between 882 and 482 models?

  • @PatrickJarvis The 882 has XLR inputs and outputs as well as 1/4 jack plugs. XLR plugs generaly have a stronger conection.

  • I use to play with a BBE maximizer until I check the Aphex aural exiter, thats a real shit.

  • in my opinion, sonic maximizers must be used over a band mix in a live situation. Not over a single rig.

  • the fizzle comes from the diod clipping in the Marshall Jmp1, in my opinion.

I had it and always wandered why I couldnt get rid of it. Usualy with tubes when you play a slight overdrive (a clean dirty blues sound) you get the slight little crunchy brake up. But this thing could not achieve this. That's because according to what I read, the diod clipping instead of real tube clipping.

Anyway on your other demos of this thing, the sound is awsome ! love your british accent... liverpool ?

  • Much better with the BBE. The BBE brings out all that snarl and grind, and the notes sound much more defined and alive. Clean sounds very flat without the BBE. Very dood demo!

  • sounds great!!

  • Loving your tone

  • Nice one! I was looking to get a BBE plugin for mixing, but after this. I'm pretty sure I need one on stage too. It adds a nice finish to everything..

  • what is the marshall poweramp you are using?

  • Hey man, great tone!

Quick question: Do you use same settings on DEQ-230 for clean and overdrive channels ?

    Thanks!

  • @hugoscaramal Yes i was using one setting for all my tones.

  • I think It sounds better OFF. any effects you hear should be easily accomplished with EQ, if you like.

  • hey, great vid! I was just wondering, could you give me a list of what you have top to bottom please? Like i know it starts out with maybe a power conditioner? and then goes to a wireless and a tuner but can you give me a list after that?

    Thank you!

  • @Wehlan9951 Check out my other vids all the info you need is right there ;) cheers.

  • nice demo, nice (and expensive) rig, you have the same wireless system as me! it kicks ass.

  • im getting one of those i hope soon how do u connect everything what the bbe goes first than eq than to the amp reply thanks by the way great video

  • The BBE goes last in your chain. :)

  • @dreamstrider The reason it's before the Alesis is so that the Alesis gets rids of the some of the"fizz" on the high end that the BBE seems to bring out... as stated in the video! BAM! :)

  • hey man, nice vid. I can really hear the difference that BBE maximizer makes. I currently have a crate vfx5212 which can get really bright on the clean channel. can this unit also add body and warmth to my signal while reducing the harsh highs? or am i better off just getting an EQ?

  • Hey guy, great setup.Sounds really good. what is the order of the signal chain you are using?

  • marshall throws so much high end, my prob is when I want a crispy clean I don't get it since my EQ has the highs dropped

  • Hey dude, been looking into a JMP-1 setup.. just had a real good go of a mates, kinda sounded like it had a blanket over the speaker on the distortion channels though y'know.. seems like the sonic maximiser really takes care of that.

  • wow that alesis eq is amazing nice tone bro

  • damn when did they start making the x2 rack mounts? i have an x2 but i guess im just gonna have to buy an extra mount and throw it under everything haha. damn....

  • Do you run the eq first (plug the guitar into it) or last (after sonic or marshall)?

  • the bbe really makes a big difference, tightens it up and makes it less muddy.

  • A lot of amps sound a bit dull I think and the BBE brings them to life. I like the clean sound of this rig more than the distortion channels.

  • could you put a messa boogie triaxes in that rack with all the other equipment or what would you half to get rid of to make it work ?

  • good comparation but can we really compare an equalizer with a sonic maximizer instead the sonic maximizer is just compressing some frequecies instead the equalizer is just equalizing frequencies, it's not the same way of use. personnaly i'm using them both in series and it rocks if your are compressing first with the BBE and then equalizing with the alessi ( excuse my english cause I'm french lol ) . Never mind of comparation you rocks thank you for the vid

  • Hi. Thanks for commenting. The purpose of the video was NOT to compare the Sonic Maximizer with the Alesis. It was to to let you hear what the rig sounded like with both the BBE and EQ turned off and on within the loop of the JMP-1.

  • I have the BBE Sonic maximizer... I don't like it htat much, I think i am going to buy a grafic equalizer instead. Because the BBE makes the bass to muffly and the "prosess"(high freq) makes the sound too hard sounding not sweet like I like it. You should change out the EL84 poweramp to a EL34 based poweramp. the EL84 has way to little bass in it. I know because I have had EL84's before. My 2 cents :-)

  • That must be heavy as!

  • I think it sounds the best without EQ and without the BBE. But I've always liked a bit honky midrangey sound

  • agreed

with both on it sounds a bit too boxy

  • Because of the EL84 :-)... Think VOX...

  • So it's better on non-EL84 amps?

  • Everything is relativ, but I think it is better to buy a EL34 poweramp instead of buying a el84 poweramp and using a bbe to boost the bass. EL84 has NICE high freq sparkle but lacks bass. You might not need a bbe/eq if you have a good el34 poweramp. In the video he is boosting the bass on both the eq and the bbe. probably because of the lack of good bass in el84's

  • I would of went with an EL34 amp. However i was mainly thinking of the weight! This thing was heavy, add the weight of the EL34 and it would become too much for me to manage. The EL84 has a 'deep' button which adds a LOT of bottom end which i thought was an excellent feature on it. But without it on, yes it does lack bottem end compared to the EL34.

  • @Guitarrack OK :) I have the same "problem". But I have thought of just having a poweramp in it's own rack case. That could be a solution. It would have been nice to tried the el84 poweramp, with the deep button on. :-)

  • August Burns Red - Meddler.

    :)

  • wow, i can't believe how much of a difference the Sonic Maximizer makes!

  • i cant help but feel jealous of the rack man.. i envy you!

do you know how badly i could piss off my neighbors with that??

    *plots deviously*

  • could you post a clip or explain how your rack is wired?

  • Where are you from? You sound not too far from Newcastle, England (where I am).

  • Great video man!

Question; does the BBE come before the eq in the signalchain as one can assume or is it the other way about?

  • Nice Rack

    Excuse The Pun

Erm, I Believe That Is The Line 6 X2 You Have?

    Does It Work Properly?

I Also Believe You're In The UK?

  • Great video, i m bass player but i bought a BBE 482i SONIC MAXIMIZER, it`s awesome.

  • what a rack...wow...if you ever feel really generous you can send that my way haha nice video man
