Agreed, though a 2 state solution is possible in the medium term if olmert would listen to his dissident ministers and talk to hamas (assuming they aren't already in secret, which I doubt). Hamas needs to bend a bit as well, but they've been more or less on record in principle for such a solution for a couple years, if not longer.

the problem is that israeli rejectionism has refused a single democratic state because they demand an ethnically jewish majority. israel has also made it clear through aggression, settlement expansion, and refusal to deal diplomatically that they reject the two-state consensus which has been agreed on by all major parties besides israel/US.
