@scjackson36 My girlfriend and I are thinking about getting one. She has a townhouse and we've heard they do well in apartments and such due to their crate training and they can sleep all day while she's at work. Any tips?
I saw this on line before and I thought about doing it. I met a lady on the street who had an adopted greyhound. I chatted with her for nearly an hour and I came to the conclusion that I am getting one ASAP. I have always wanted a dog and I'm not a big fan of small little purse dogs. So I am quite excited to get underway with adopting one of these guys! =)
I had a stray lurcher [greyhoundx] and she had never been indoors before..she was easy to housetrain, intelligent, and a wonderful companion. She was found wandering the streets and taken to the RSPCA, looking like a little skeleton, but gradually became a well muscled healthy dog..she was never ill until she was nearly 12, and alas, had to be PTS [cancer] at home..she is buried in the garden in her fave ''sunbathing/digging'' spot...
@buffalo827 go get 1 buffalo827 you wont regret it theres not a more loving gentle breed of dog on the planet ..... i've had labs, shepherds,,,poodles,,,,spaniels,,,,,pit bulls,,,,I even had a chihuahua but none of them compare to my greyhound..... i only have 1 at the moment her name is Zoey a 65 lb red fawn I got her off the greyhound farm I used to work on in Abilene KS. in 2007 after a couple weeks of house training she has turned into the best pet I've ever owned......
i am doing Every tinng to help out!!! i am going to the greyhound rescue and hopefully bring a couple to a garuge sale( not selling them!!!) to let people learn about them! and hopefully get ssome adopted!!!( not right then!!!) p.s. my greyhound is a retired racer and on youtube!! it is called Griffin and Harper!! lets all work together and put an end to greyhound racing!!!!!
LOL! Love her accent....Oh and btw I have a retired greyhound myself named Archie and the videos right, greyhounds may be fast but they're friggin lazy as well! LOL!
He actully went to a home once but put a long story short he had to be returned because the owner was an idiot so they took him back to the kennel and then we were lucky enough to find him! He's been great, I'm amazed at how calm he is. I've only heard him bark twice one time being when I accidently steped on his paw...sorry boy.
My boss has one and this dog neevr leaves her side, she brings him into the office every day, ive fallen in love with this race...such elegant adorable creatures...if i ever adopt a dog, it will be a greyhound :3
If people really understood how great greyhounds are, you'd have to get on a waiting list. My grey Sally is lying next to me as I write this. Believe me, greyhounds make great pets.
We adopted one of these dogs a couple months ago -- 65lbs, white fur with beautiful gray eyes. He has an incredibly sweet disposition towards people, our cat and the other neighborhood dogs.
6 years ago,I adopted a 2-1/2 year old fresh off the Arizona track after a 9 race career. I ADORE her! She is a super sweet and laid back, she's great with other dogs and the little ones love her, never barks at home, never touches anything that is not hers, never been sick, easy to train the basics, sleeps next to me every night., great off leash and loves to play in water and is the perfect happy bouncy companion.
I'm thinking of getting a greyhound to breed with my Jack Russell to make some spider-legged terriers. They'll be way more exciting to race than greyhounds.
My parents finally said yes for me to getting a dog..are greyhounds good family pets if they were ex-racers? I also have my little cousin who is 6 sometimes visit me. are they hard to train?
@ADOriginal Best kept secret in the dog world. Ex-racers are AWESOME family dogs, gentle, loving, easy to train and love people. Easiest dog to own by far.
@ADOriginal Excellant family pets, I just adopted a big boy 30 inches tall, who just adores my newphews. Some dogs can be shy make enquiry when you go to adopt. There will be dogs as young as 18 months who have never raced. My boy is 3 ex-racer and he was very confident becuase I think he was treated well by trainer. Your 6 year old cousin will know to be quite around the new grey, please dont worry please please adopt! You will become addicted like no other dog in the world : )

Lucky that in Finland greyhounds are beloved pets just like any other dogs. My mother has six greyhounds that live in her home and sleep in her bed, not a lot of room for mom.
I had a greyhound and they are very gentle, graceful pets. It sucks that they are forced to race so that degenerate scumbags can bet their kid's college tuition away.
Wow... I admit that I was one of those who just believed the misconception that Greyhounds are uppity, hyper, malcontent, etc. Then someone on another site told me Greyhounds were affectionate, laid back dogs... and then I find this video. Suddenly I find myself wanting to adopt one.
We're adopting a 5yr old Brindle x-racer this sunday!!!! I LOVE MY ABE!!! He LOVES our Iggy too!! They're such an AMAZING breed of dog, I love them SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
IN SPAIN UNFORTUNATELY GREYHOUNDS ARE USED TO HUNT RABBITS,LIVE IN POOR CONDITIONS,AND WHEN THEY ARE OLD OR SICK,THEY ARE KILLED IN A HORRIBLE WAY . ALL I´M TELLING it´s horible, but unfortunately it´s true
IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO loves animals, any person from all over the world,
simply by searching by internet ,you will find a lot of refugees in Spain for these stylish animals, which need an opportunity.
some loving people from europe are beginning to adopt them, but still not enough,....

@mariagalaica I know I ma form Ireland and very much the same here. there are good people in Spain who we know are taking these poor dogs off the streets and into homes. I agree its not enough but at least it is something. In Ireland some of our dogs are sold to Spain and run with terrible injuries, I am ashamed to be Irish sometimes. I have rescued a beautiful greyhound 5 weeks ago now and a beautiful greyhound pup in August 2009 who we still have. We found her on the side of the road!
i adopted one of these wonderful animals in May of this year and is the best decision i have ever made. She is the most gentle, funny, lazy, greedy, affectionate, dog ever lol. I would recommend a greyhound to everyone and anyone!!! The charity in Scotland i rehomed her from do an amazing job.
this vid really warmed my heart! my mom had a greyhound when she was like 18 she said he was HUGE i dunno how but LOL everytime she talks about him she says hes HUGE he was gray (coincidence? XD) and his name was Jamie obviously hes not around anymore :( cuz that was like almost 20 years ago id say i want one sooo bad all my friends say that theyre the ugliest dogs ever! im like WHAT? R U KIDDING? but my mom says our landlord doesnt allow dogs and this one is perfect! i doubt he'll change heart
i've recently adopted a galgo espanol!she was also done racing, then having a few nests.after that she was brutally abused.and now she lives with us.being loved and spoiled rotten!!hahahaha greyhound stichting holland(GRH) made it possible for me to adopt this beauty named maya.
i swear if i lived in the same country i would help out these are one of my faverote breeds and i really want to foster and after finding out how many there are her in perth australia im going to ask my parents but it will be a NO i know it will be ill just have to wait till i leave home
THE AMOUNT OF TIME GREYHOUNDS ARE IN CAGES IS WRONG THEY ONLY RACE THEM TILL THEY ARE 3 YEARS OLD THEN THEY GET RID OF THEM.I ORK FOR THE EST TEXAS GREYHOUND ADOPTION AGENCY. HAVE 10 GREYS OF MY ON THEY ARE THE BEST PETS IN THE WORLD.SOME OF THE RACING AGENSIES HERE HAVE THIER ON ADOPTION BOOTH AT THEIR TRACK.
I had a greyhound who passed away in November 09. She was 13 and I got her when she was 2. She was such a sweetheart. I would highly recommend them as pets!
you know what my greyhounds are worth alot of money and we have one that we think has been mistreated and she doesnt like skinny men she only likes big men so we think she was abused by a skinny man
Adopt a greyhound. They're quiet. They don't shed. They're excellent apartment dogs because they sleep all day. And most of all, they're incredibly friendly, loving, and gentle, and they DESERVE it. :)
If you want to ensure your way to heaven and having terminal illness or simply you are not afraid being jail for protecting these animals against human cruelty contact me.
Everybody who are torturing killing using these animals has to be haunted down and severely punished.Saying "its so sad " is not enough.
i no some1 who owns a greyhound and she really has speed especially on the beach i watched her go off and find another dog i had to run a good distance just to get her and her pal <3
Its true that greyhounds generally are really calm etc.
I have a greyhound called Nooby she is the most beautiful thing and i couldn't live withiot her. However, they say 1 in 10 greyhounds find their bark; she has plus when she was racing her odds were 2:1 so she hasn't lost the instinct to chase. Too bad we live next door to a kitty. LOL
Greyhounds are the greatest! I get to see an army of them around Columbus Day in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. They are so calm and so well behaved. These dogs can handle a lot of affection from strangers (me) with aplomb. Just imagine if you could own one.
Lovely film. I have 2 ex racers from a rescue center. Greyhounds are the most loving and gentle dogs. For all the doubters who think they are nervous, highly strung etc, you could not be more wrong.
The terrible thing is that so many dogs come off the track and their is not proper provision made for them by the industry.
I would suggest that the Greyhound racing industry invest some of their profits into educating people of what wonderful dogs they are as pets !
Too bad the Greyhound rescue people can't figure out how to "market" retired racing hounds to active sports people. Greyhounds love to run, and many humans do too. Natural team? Of course. Like to cross country ski? Greyhounds quickly adapt to "skijoring", where dogs wear harnesses and pull skiers on fast trails. No reason a Greyhound can't skijor until age 12.
By the way, Foodyall...raw meat is a dog's natural food. Vegetarian animals sit in herds waiting to be killed and eaten.
I have a geryhound named Bambi her name was once trespass she has marks on her from being in her crate for he last 5 years she was fed raw meat but now she is happy & healthy if u already have a greyhound ( like me ) codos 2 u if u dont have 1 get one she would not be alive right now if we didnt decide to get her
he is doing a good thing finding homes for these dogs but saying they wre kept in a cage all the time is completely wrong, sprinters wouldn't win any races if they stayed in their house for all but 2 days a week, greyhounds are constantly trained and kept fit.
i love Greyhounds+i makes me so mad+sad when they r inhumanly killed when they r done racing!!! this rescue group makes me happy :) i have a 5 yr old brindle+white female named Salty. she is 31 inches tall+wieghs75 lbs. her fav thing 2 do is attack bugs in the garden!!
i have a greyhound her racing name was trespass but i named her bambi, she has scares on her from being in her crate all the time & she was fed raw meat , she is now happy & healthy
@dooggyloover lol, my black one is 7 years old and she loves to attack the cockroaches in my garage, it save me the trouble of haveing to spray for them :)
@BoyFromAgo haha thats cute :) I adopted my Salty from the pound, she was found w/ like 10 other greyhounds in cages in an abandoned house :( She was really scared of people for the first week, and she had cuts and stuff on her back legs and stuff, that was a 2 years ago and now she is the sweetest and funniest dog ever!!
@dooggyloover you are right ,they are,the most punished dogs, and themost unknown dogs for a lot of people .they are very smart ,and they perfectly can live in a house .and also incredibly elegant
If someone wants to adopt a greyhound,in SPAIN many of them are killed for hunting, and the rescued ones ,need adoption ,because the shelters are complete, there are thousands of dogs looking for adoption.thanks
We adopted our grey Ginger, 2 years ago from GRA, near Ingersol in Ontario, Canada. Best thing we ever did, she keeps me entertained constantly. She brings a smile to my face each and every day. She goes everwhere with me, except shopping, and then she pouts when I come home, because I didn't take her. She get along with our cat great, and they even sleep together
My greyhound adoption is one of the best decisions I've made. They are fantastic companions, easy to train and they love you with their whole heart. My Grey is my best friend.
Most rescue/adoption operations are always looking for foster homes, so if you aren't ready to sign papers, sign up first as a foster and you'll know if it's right for u. They usually test them to see if they are kid/cat/dog friendly, too. Its worth it!!!
Yer best choice we ever made aswell. My lili is now on her bed , head propped back, eyes closed with her mouth open slightly. Its funny but its also creepy because she looks like some sort of Sid version of a dog Zombie when she does that. lol i love my greyhound.
HURRY!!!!! Urgent request: Dairyland Greyhound Racetrack in Kenosha, Wisconsin will be closing on December 31, 2009.... 900 Greyhounds need to be adopted or they will be euthanized. Contact Joanne Kehoe Operations Director P: 312.559.0887 Or Dairyland Race Track Adoption Center direct at (262) 612-8256 -can anyone help??
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That's a lie! No dogs are getting euthanized, and there are no where NEAR the number you're stating and in fact, as someone who's tried to adopt - it's near impossible given the influx of applicants.
Does anyone know how saved greyhounds are with cats? I've always been concerned about them 'chasing the rabbit' on the track and mimicking that action by chasing cats. We have 2 cats--a snobby tabby who wants to be left alone and an active Maine Coon who might want to play as long as the greyhound posed no real threat. We can't get one now, but might consider it down the line.
i have a greyhound that we took in when we had a cat. some rescue groups will test the rescued dog to see how compatible they are with children and also other pets. When our greyhound first came into our home both cat and dog were unsure of each other and pretty much stayed out of each others way until my cat passed away. really i just think its down to the nature of the dog. i hope thats helpful!
So sad to here they didn't become friends, but at least it sounds like the cat wasn't in any danger. I know sometimes the adoption agency will let you know if a dog isn't good around cats or kids. I was just wondering if greyhounds had a particular tendency to be bad with cats because of the training to chase a fake rabbit around the track. We might look for a younger one who never actually raced. Thanks for the advice!
We had 3 cats when we got our greyhound. She was very respectful of them, after being smacked when she got curious. She loves cats, if we go for a walk she wants to "meet" them. The groups will test the dogs to make sure they are small animal and cat safe.
Some greyhounds will get along with cats but some wont. I was told that males usauly get along better with smaller animals the what female greyhounds do but i don't know if thats true or not. Your local shelter shoulld test the dogs they take on. So if you want a greyhound that will get along with your cat ask the people running your local sheltor.
i dont agree with any type of animal racing - dog, horse etc. on a small level its fun for them, as they are bred for that purpose and enjoy the adrenalin rush, but they are pushed too far, as it says in the video, the conditions are poor. they basically live in those cages for 5 years, its disgusting.
i adore these dogs, they are a gift from god, such sweet animals. i want to adopt one so bad because a race track near me closed down recently, and i think it would be gd company for my other dog
Forget getting a pure breed puppy from a breeder who is just adding to the problem of overpopulation. I can't see why anybody wouldn't want to adopt one of these amazing dogs.
Usually between the ages of 2 and 5, as noted above. Closer to 2 if they don't actually make it to the race track (as I understand it, a large percentage never race because they aren't fast enough or don't have the interest, so there can be a lot of two-year-olds who need homes). They'll retire closer to five if they have a successful racing career. Sometimes a dog who has been a brood mare will be put up for adoption, and she will be older.
GOD BLESS these sweet beautiful innocent greyhounds!! They are all angels and oneday will all have amazing homes and will be in Gods hands and ppl who dont treat dogs right will be punished! amen
that's BS, they should heavily regulate dog racing and how the dogs are treated, and if the owners want to just throw the dogs away after they should have to pay a signifcant fee to cover the costs of anding them over to animal groups like this...total bs system.
@Thunderflower367 at first peta was a dedicated animal organization. they saved many many animals. then once they got money, they wanted more so to stay cheap and consequently make more money by killing every animal they can find. and hsus is a bit different in how they were mostly about ads and money in the first place, but got even worse after getting alot of money.
I totally agree. My dad is really considering adopting a retired racer or two. He heard about how they're treated and it really moved him. He wants to help them. X3
@AAAmar of course ,if the people get rid of them when they don´t serve to run ,they should pay the maintenance of the dogs ,till they are adopted.I think greyhound races should be prohibited by law,but this is a difficult thing to get,so at the moment ,the race people should pay for these dogs, and in big amounts ,to maintain them before they find an adopter.this is fair, these dogs ,running produce a lot of money for that people.
That's not the solution. Stop business with animals. Imagine the people of the Racing business saying...oh it doesn't matter, there are associations and people who will adopt them....I'm sorry but I don't want to be a part of that chain...is like support the racing for dogs... I love my dog from puppy, If you want to stop the business, stop it. Are you going to adopt also bulls or pitbulls after they were used for business(fighting)?STOP THE ROOTS OF THE PROBLEM DON"T HELP THE PROBLEM
My dad bred a littler of greyhounds when i was about 2 and we raced them, a few got hurt on the track and had 2 b put down =[ but the others when they retired we kept as family pets, they are the softest, most loving loyal dogs ive ever come across, and if i didnt have a flat i would get a rescue greyhound they are so relaxed and love to give kisses
THis is operation Greyhound where we also give greyhounds loving homes after we rescue them from the race track! Please check out our website or channel to learn more!
that is just so beautiful. i love what these people are doing because so many greythounds are abused and only used for racing. the owners just use them to get the prize money of whay the dog did. sometimes i wish dog could talk so they can just tell their owner " hey, i dont like that so cut it out" but they dont have that ability so its very sad and so unfair. who ever post this video i am glad because people should hear this or put the program back on the television. that is a beautiful thing.
i apsolutly love greyhounds, i have one, and it is the best dog i have ever met!!!
he is only 2 and has never races=d, he dont even have marks in his ears. his name is dodger and his bed is under the stairs. if it is not walkies or dinner, he stays on his bed. when it is dry, we let him in the garden, which has caused all the grass to uproot, lol, but we still love him more than life. just makes sure you put something over yr glass doors, cause they will run into them, and unfortunatly die =[
Is it really that easy to adopt a greyhound? I'm just wondering....If anyone here who has adopted could tell me, that would be great. Do you jst walk in, pick a grey than sign all the forms, pay and leave? Is taht all?
When i adopted mine, they came to us, introduced us to the dog. We said we wanted him and then a week later they brought him and then they signed the forms then. I think that it is too quick becasue people decide on the spur of the moment. If you leave it a little while you can think about it. If you don't think properly then you could end up with the Greyhounds being abandoned.
Oh gosh, you cannot compare one dog to others. They are not all same. These poor dogs never got a chance to show their personality, they don't know how! We just adopted one and she is great. But we know she'll be a lot of work. That's why we tell her no to certain things so she learns because she's been stuck in a cage and on the track her whole life. Greys are the best and I plan on adopting much more in the future!
They don;t regulate their body temperature very well, so they can't be left in the cold for a long period of time. My mum says if we adopt one she'll knit him/her a sweater! Sweaters are a great choice for greyhounds in the wnter.
Denmark1534: Greyhounds need to have a coat, like many short-fur dogs. They only have one layer of fur, so they would really get cold. They need a rain coat and you can double that with a fleece underneath for the winter. I can send you lots of good addresses to get cheap ones. I have friends in Quebec who have greyhounds, and it is very possible. They need a coat, a couch and love, that's all! You will not regret giving a home to one of these long-legged angels!
We take great care of our retired greyhound (dog parks, attention, discipline, always indoors). BUT she's HORRIBLE...... Stubborn, always gets into trash drawer, pulling it off the tracks, steals food WHENEVER left alone, off the counter, stove, even our plates. Great dog first couple years. She's only 5.
I'd never get another. I've also noticed they have little personality compared to other breeds. We just wanted to help one, but never again.
Please help racing greyhounds. The legislation is being reviewed. Hurry, you only have until 22nd July 09 to show your support. Then that's if for good.
I love how you say, "There's dogs, then there's Greyhounds." Best quote I've ever heard. I adopted my ex-racer Lila and it's the best thing I ever did. You guys are great.
Not only Grayhounds need homes, all dogs need homes! A naghbor in my naghborhood have a grayhound, but I don't know much about her and theres a few others too!
Specially Greyhounds need our help. In Spain, after hunting season, they are awfully mistreated until death. So many of us and some MidEuope peolpe are adopting them even if they -Geyhounds- have to recover their faith in the humanity.
adopting a greyhound is one of the best decisions i ever made, they are the most loving and gentle dogs ever, mine is looking straight in my eyes from her bed as i'm wrting this! :D
I have a question for some of you Greyt-savvy people ...
I am a person who jogs once or twice a day and have wanted a dog for years. I also go kayaking often, and have seen owners bring their dogs along with them.
My problem is that I live in an apartment (allows dogs), and I would feel guilty owning a dog that was not happy with my living arrangements. I have heard that Greyts are good apartment dogs. Is this true? I would be paying for a doggie daycare during the day, while I'm at work.
@Oakleaf700 that is a sad story. Sorry for your loss :(

I own one of these 70km couch potatoes - best move I ever made.
I now have him trained up to go visit a nursing home every second Sunday. They adore his nature and the fact they don't have to bend over to pat him.
Bonus is that they have little to no doggy odour.

human beings are very crue to other animals indeed, they used them and once they found them useless, then simply killed them, so heartless.

Can't be without mine!

I agree with you. Some of the profits should be spent on TV advertising. Terrific work you guys!
houseuponarock 1 year ago
Too bad the Greyhound rescue people can't figure out how to "market" retired racing hounds to active sports people. Greyhounds love to run, and many humans do too. Natural team? Of course. Like to cross country ski? Greyhounds quickly adapt to "skijoring", where dogs wear harnesses and pull skiers on fast trails. No reason a Greyhound can't skijor until age 12.
By the way, Foodyall...raw meat is a dog's natural food. Vegetarian animals sit in herds waiting to be killed and eaten.

he is doing a good thing finding homes for these dogs but saying they wre kept in a cage all the time is completely wrong, sprinters wouldn't win any races if they stayed in their house for all but 2 days a week, greyhounds are constantly trained and kept fit.

We can't get one now, but might consider it down the line.
whigrose 2 years ago
i have a greyhound that we took in when we had a cat. some rescue groups will test the rescued dog to see how compatible they are with children and also other pets. When our greyhound first came into our home both cat and dog were unsure of each other and pretty much stayed out of each others way until my cat passed away. really i just think its down to the nature of the dog. i hope thats helpful!
claireybowfairy 2 years ago
So sad to here they didn't become friends, but at least it sounds like the cat wasn't in any danger. I know sometimes the adoption agency will let you know if a dog isn't good around cats or kids. I was just wondering if greyhounds had a particular tendency to be bad with cats because of the training to chase a fake rabbit around the track. We might look for a younger one who never actually raced. Thanks for the advice!
whigrose 2 years ago
We had 3 cats when we got our greyhound. She was very respectful of them, after being smacked when she got curious. She loves cats, if we go for a walk she wants to "meet" them. The groups will test the dogs to make sure they are small animal and cat safe.
GotTheMethod 2 years ago
@whigrose
Some greyhounds will get along with cats but some wont. I was told that males usauly get along better with smaller animals the what female greyhounds do but i don't know if thats true or not. Your local shelter shoulld test the dogs they take on. So if you want a greyhound that will get along with your cat ask the people running your local sheltor.
erehgregrhegrhegr 2 years ago
i dont agree with any type of animal racing - dog, horse etc. on a small level its fun for them, as they are bred for that purpose and enjoy the adrenalin rush, but they are pushed too far, as it says in the video, the conditions are poor. they basically live in those cages for 5 years, its disgusting.
i adore these dogs, they are a gift from god, such sweet animals. i want to adopt one so bad because a race track near me closed down recently, and i think it would be gd company for my other dog

At what age do they generally retire these dogs?
OtakuJdm 2 years ago
Usually between the ages of 2 and 5, as noted above. Closer to 2 if they don't actually make it to the race track (as I understand it, a large percentage never race because they aren't fast enough or don't have the interest, so there can be a lot of two-year-olds who need homes). They'll retire closer to five if they have a successful racing career. Sometimes a dog who has been a brood mare will be put up for adoption, and she will be older.

that's BS, they should heavily regulate dog racing and how the dogs are treated, and if the owners want to just throw the dogs away after they should have to pay a signifcant fee to cover the costs of anding them over to animal groups like this...total bs system.
AAAmar 2 years ago 34
@AAAmar then the groups wouldnt be animal rescue groups. theyd just be BS companys. i mean look at peta! money ruined them. same for hsus.
theamazingplant2 1 year ago
@theamazingplant2 wait how did money ruin peta and hsus?
Thunderflower367 1 year ago
@Thunderflower367 at first peta was a dedicated animal organization. they saved many many animals. then once they got money, they wanted more so to stay cheap and consequently make more money by killing every animal they can find. and hsus is a bit different in how they were mostly about ads and money in the first place, but got even worse after getting alot of money.
theamazingplant2 1 year ago
@AAAmar
I totally agree. My dad is really considering adopting a retired racer or two. He heard about how they're treated and it really moved him. He wants to help them. X3
hitheresunshine 1 year ago
@AAAmar of course ,if the people get rid of them when they don´t serve to run ,they should pay the maintenance of the dogs ,till they are adopted.I think greyhound races should be prohibited by law,but this is a difficult thing to get,so at the moment ,the race people should pay for these dogs, and in big amounts ,to maintain them before they find an adopter.this is fair, these dogs ,running produce a lot of money for that people.
mariagalaica 1 year ago
That's not the solution. Stop business with animals. Imagine the people of the Racing business saying...oh it doesn't matter, there are associations and people who will adopt them....I'm sorry but I don't want to be a part of that chain...is like support the racing for dogs... I love my dog from puppy, If you want to stop the business, stop it. Are you going to adopt also bulls or pitbulls after they were used for business(fighting)?STOP THE ROOTS OF THE PROBLEM DON"T HELP THE PROBLEM

that is just so beautiful. i love what these people are doing because so many greythounds are abused and only used for racing. the owners just use them to get the prize money of whay the dog did. sometimes i wish dog could talk so they can just tell their owner " hey, i dont like that so cut it out" but they dont have that ability so its very sad and so unfair. who ever post this video i am glad because people should hear this or put the program back on the television. that is a beautiful thing.

Is it really that easy to adopt a greyhound? I'm just wondering....If anyone here who has adopted could tell me, that would be great. Do you jst walk in, pick a grey than sign all the forms, pay and leave? Is taht all?
UncleTurdMuffin 2 years ago
When i adopted mine, they came to us, introduced us to the dog. We said we wanted him and then a week later they brought him and then they signed the forms then. I think that it is too quick becasue people decide on the spur of the moment. If you leave it a little while you can think about it. If you don't think properly then you could end up with the Greyhounds being abandoned.
megzroks 2 years ago
Ok! Thanks!
UncleTurdMuffin 2 years ago
Oh gosh, you cannot compare one dog to others. They are not all same. These poor dogs never got a chance to show their personality, they don't know how! We just adopted one and she is great. But we know she'll be a lot of work. That's why we tell her no to certain things so she learns because she's been stuck in a cage and on the track her whole life. Greys are the best and I plan on adopting much more in the future!

FrerardLives 2 years ago
They don;t regulate their body temperature very well, so they can't be left in the cold for a long period of time. My mum says if we adopt one she'll knit him/her a sweater! Sweaters are a great choice for greyhounds in the wnter.
UncleTurdMuffin 2 years ago
