I remember this film as a kid i remmeber the old lady in a rocking chair in a corn field.... But I remmeber at the end I think it was the devil in the top of a building and I can't remmeber what happened but this girl who followed him for ages or summat throws herself off the building?????
Everyone, please boycott WMG. Buy only used CDs; that way they make no profit. A company with nothing better to do that scour the internet for kids' videos needs to meet bankruptcy.
You gotta love the faggots at WMG who think disabling music in a FREE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE is somehow cutting into their multi-billion dollar profit margin; not to mention the fact that they are affiliated with an organization (the RIAA) who could give two shits less about the actual artists the "swear" to protect.
Excellent miniseries &book (READ IT!!) I strongly suggest the extended version of the book. Its Kings best along w Dark Tower 1-3 &5, It and The Long Walk. Night Shift rocks too
I never understood how if the flu spreads so fast how did Campion not give it to anyone besides his wife and daughter before he got to Texas? You can't get from San Diego to Texas on one tank of gas. :)
And if the flu takes at least a few days to claim people, what happened for everyone to die at the base so fast?
when my mom gave me a set of VHS movies back when i was a kid, The Stand disturbed my mind...i couldnt understand much but i was interested in the almost-love-scene of Rob Lowe and the crazy ass bitch. heheheh.i watched it over and over again. recently, i saw the tape in our cabinet, i watched it again. now i get it! hehehehe. really compelling concept. Stephen King is a genius!
ha ha ha. Sandrox, when I was a kid in high school, the only thing on our minds was this Nostradamus documentary, that inadvertently coincided with this mini series....
Ok, I agree the book is like 150% better - but if you compare this movie to many others based on King's works, the movie is very true to the original story - even though some of those actors are totally wrong in their parts. You also have to think about the fact that this mini-series was made in 94, so it's pretty old by now.
To put it all in fewer words; this mini-series is both good and bad.
I agree, that "Storm of the Century" is a pretty damn scary and excellent movie. But I disagree about The Stand. Just because things don't jump out at you all the time or people don't get torn to shreds with blood everywhere doesn't mean it's not scary.
old lady got sick mother that guy with gartar the singer...she made me jump when she set up dead fast oh boy heart attck allmost for me jump out me skin had sound full blast ;]plus was eating me tea 2 lol great movie tho..
Agreed. The book is always better but in this case as with other great books made into movies (Lord of The Rings) the movie would be about 40 hours long if it had everything in it, LOL! This is King's scariest book ever because it is so damned believeable. One almost forgets one is reading fiction at times.
it's time for the independent authors to rise from the bottom of the pile and take our place at the top where we belong!!!!!!! visit my channel....we need to change the game...sick of these agents and publishing houses? i know i am.
finaly saw the entire thing today. oh man that wuz 6hours lol. but it wuz alright. but I wouldn't say I'd be able to see it agian for another 10years or so becuz it's so damn long.
The Guy at 2:04 is the man in the very beginning who brought the virus to the public...he ran his car into the gas pumps....Being that you read it...you should know this. I'm reading the big book, the uncut one, I'm in the middle.
Umm randall flag was not a black man in the book, i dont know what the hell you thought you were reading. They just called him the dark man because all you could see was his silloutte throughout nearly all of the book, but he was just a normal everyday cowboyish white guy if thats what you wanna call it lol. But hes just a big ole demon really.
He is the guy who fled the weapons compound with his familly and crashed into the petrol station, can't remember his name but it should be in chapter 1.
He's not black in the book, his race is never specified. He's called the dark man because he's evil and has dark powers. He's pretty scary actually, it's only the morphing into a demon that's a bit comical.
Good trailer though, though it's kinda one for the first episode.
lol what book did you read? Flagg is in the dark tower series aswell and nowere does it mention that he is black, in the DT it does mention that Sussana was black and it makes a big deal out of it, (in that world there seemed to be no black people) as it does say Flagg is black you have to asume he is white (although he could probably change)
Flagg pops up in quiet a few King books. He's in Eye Of The Dragon, The dark Tower, The Stand, (I think he's the shopkeeper in Needful things) and I'm fairly sure he's shown up in a few other books.
But doesn't he go by a few names? I don't think he's actually called Flagg in Dark Tower either (it's a while since I read them). Between The Stand and Dark Tower, I got the impression that Flagg would be best described as a malevolent force made flesh.
I understood that he wasn't fixed to any particular time or place, but turns up using various names and faces depending on the situation.
flagg goes by a few names in The Dark Tower firstly Walter also Marleen and plain old Flagg, he goes by the name Flagg in Eye Of The Dragon. In Kings screenplay "Storm Of The Century" the main villan is Andre Linoge, I beleive King has identified him as Flagg. personally I don't think Gaunt was written as Flagg but they could be seen as the same person, their were a lot of similaritys.
Linoge is not Flagg. King never identified him as Flagg. Gaunt isn't him, either. He's just another evil entity in King's universe (the film presented Gaunt as the devil himself, but the book's another story). Like It and Tak, Linoge and Gaunt are on their own, and they have nothing to do with Flagg. Tak is connected to the Dark Tower, I think, but he's just another villain.
You cant really say for sure that King never identifyed Linoge as Flagg as King has writen so much in so many publications/interviews/blogs that the only person who has read every thing he has written is himself, like I said "I believe" King read that, but I admit Iu could be wrong, there is a good argument for linoge not being flagg, mainly that he is identifyed as "The Grim Reaper" which flagg is not. my opinion is Tak/Gaunt/Linoge are not Flagg but Gaunt is most like him.
isn't the bit with the black granny from the twilight zone?... and nice job with the don't fear the reaper solo at the end, fits nicely with the imagery
i just watched this on sci fi again, i think RUby Dee should have won on oscar for her performance in this, along with some others, some of the best acting ever
I like this movie because of two reasons:
1 this is the longest I ever saw (+/- 6 hrs.)
2 It's one of the most epic cult movies I know

This movie IS very good.
- of course some of the ideas of "the end" is a little too primitive shown, but steel you get many impressions if you watch the whole thing.
and don't forget the message and the meaning of "The Stand"
- if you expect great action scenes and wild computer-graphics, don't watch it.
gratitude to Stephen King
