  • This game is VERY HARD, but totally worth it!

  • i know the demo download site

  • I will never forget for space shuttles. I remember only 8 years of them but they are the most advanced space ships ever...and how I said, i will never forget...Now, when they're "dead" I still have one thing what I can do when I remember on them - switch on the PC and play SSM2007...thanks for this sim...

  • Hey guys I just bought the game but when I register it IT SENDS ME BACK TO THE DESKTOP WHENEVER IT LOADS! Help please! I already sent a support mail to the support email

  • Is there anything as detailed as this for the Apollo missions? That would be a lot of fun as well.

  • Whats the Beginning of the song? 0:00

  • ok i'm a real lover of space games and anything that has to do with it

    but now is my question

i tried alot of simulators like lock on and stuff but i never succeeded in learning every procedure

now this looks quite awesome and i would like to try it but is it really hard to learn?

because i got limited time to play

  • @Urban202 this game is indeed VERY in depth. The good thing is that there are great resources on their website, and there is an intuitive learning system that literally points to every switch you are required to click while using the simulation.

  • @valkyrie321 ah thanks i checked it out and now i can get past the starting sequence XD

    ty

  • @Urban202 Have you played Apollo 18? It's a great game if you can get it working.

  • @kosmot199 na i haven't but i'm going to look it up right away

  • Waiting for SSM2010! lol

  • @JustinnnnChannel, tell me, does Modern Warfare 2 duplicate nearly all the systems of a space shuttle?

    I digress.

  • This game really rocked!! The soundtrack is beautiful! who's the composer?

  • Use Orbiter -.-

More realistic, free and you can add additional content like news planets, new ships, and much more.

    Download Orbiter here:

    orbit[dot]medphys[dot]ucl[dot]ac[dot]uk/home.php

    Download additional content here:

    orbithangar[dot]com/index.php

  • @Byter1993 more realistic? I have tried the space shuttle in Orbiter. Sorry friend, this IS the best space shuttle simulation available.

  • Orbiter is much more realistic and is free.

  • @darnocslew as I said, I would like to see Orbiter perform an automated computer and star guided OMS burn.

    Wait, it can't.

  • @valkyrie321 Infact it can with addons for it.

  • @darnocslew my close friend ran the official orbiter forums for quite a while. I know a bit more about the simulator than you think mate. SSM is the best simulation to date of a shuttle. Period.

Orbiter on the other hand is a more open ended simulation, and it serves it's purpose in those respects where not simulating a shuttle in high fidelity is necessary.

  • @valkyrie321 Might be the best payed version, but orbiter is the worlds best free space simulation game to date, and with the addons you can add there really is no limitation then only flying space shuttles, so unfortunatly; Orbiter is better.

Why dont u even do a vote on which is better?

  • @darnocslew because this is the official production promotional video for the product, which I made. It is my job to promote the product. Do not construe however what I say, I am also an orbiter fan. However, for the best simulation of a shuttle, this is the best software available, free, paid or otherwise, which was the intended goal of the developers.

There is a reason that this software is now available in Kennedy Space Center shops. Don't know it until you try it mate ;)

  • @darnocslew I already have, and in my opinion orbiter is better.

  • @darnocslew They both have their strenghts and weaknesses. Orbiter is good because you can go to other planets, download a ton of real and fictional addons etc. SSM is designed just to simulate the Shuttle as accurately as possible. As far as simulating the Shuttle this beats Orbiter hands down. Not even Orbiter's Space Shuttle Ultra comes close to this. Don't get me wrong, I love Orbiter, its a great piece of (free) software. But as for simulating the Shuttle, SSM easily wins.

  • @darnocslew For a pure, 100% realistic space shuttle experience, this wins hands down, I don't doubt it. Orbiter has a lot more variety in locales and vessels, but each space vehicle in orbiter doesn't have NEARLY 1/10th the depth this has.

Hmm... Project Apollo may be an exception... I've yet to learn to fly that thing! lol.

  • true if you want to know then GO FLY THE SHUTTLE!!

  • Reentry is actually pretty smooth, instead of the astronauts shaking around.

  • How would you know? The only way you could really know is to actually go into space.

  • There *are* videos from inside the shuttle cockpit.

"you have to be there to know" is complete nonsense. How do I know the moon is round if I've never been there? How do I know clouds are made of water if I've never sampled them? How do we know Mars is red if no one has been there?

    Etc. It's a ridiculous argument.

  • Boy75402 is right ! On website "Nasa L2" we can excusively download (premium acount) some real video footage from inside the orbiter during the last hour of the flight ... the reentry is acualy VERY smooth with absolutely no turbulence ...

  • @Boy75402 You can get a sense of it, you can know a lot of things, but there's still a huge difference in-between actually experiencing it in real life - sitting in the cockpit of an actual space shuttle, launching into LEO on the wings of a legacy and bringing it home - and sitting at a computer playing make-believe.

I'm a huge fan of simulators, don't get me wrong, they're awesome and you can learn how to do it from a sim - but it's NOT the same experience. AT ALL

    Aristotle v.s. Plato.

  • @TMan7997 Dumbass.

  • Rolfpwned :P

  • Realy nice video !!!! :D 5/5

  • 1500 mph in space? in space they have 17500 mph, or about 7.7 km/s

  • I have found the problem:D I have a new graphics card and now its much faster! haha I love to play it now!!

  • I have a question: in the video the spaceshuttles is very fast i am playing it at the moment but even after 3 seconds its as high as the launch tower?! how do I get it as fast as in the vid?

  • Not really sure what you mean. You must remember that this video was spliced, edited, changes, etc. You don't really want to be comparing your true experience regarding time based on this particular video.

  • I mean when it hurtels into space its not as fast s in the video

  • yeah, it does take around 3 seconds to reach the top of the tower, by the time it reaches that far, it ios travelling at 120mph, 1 minute later, it is going 1500mph! hehe..

  • actually in orbit its going 17,500 mph

  • i didnt say orbit, i know it does 17,500 mph at 230 miles high :S

  • do you know how much this game costs i want it so much

  • shuttle sim 2007? probs £20 - £25 ..

  • where do you by it

  • Amazon, Ebay, Space simulator official website.. check them out, you might find something...

  • It doesn't look like it's going fast in space. But believe me, it's going really fast. Some say about 1200-1500mph. Even though it looks like it's hardly moving. Same with the ISS and astronauts on EVAs.

  • is this a commercial simulator that anyone can buy? and if it is where can i find it and how realistic is it?

  • The link for the website is in the video description at the upper right. It is a pretty realistic sim, but anyone can jump into thankfully.

  • Ok a tip for People, Shuttle simulator Is Very hard.

  • And realistic.

  • Wath is hard with the game?

  • does anyone know the name of the final song of the video? where can i download it?

  • very good video man so cool...

  • you re righT!

  • As in, the inside? No. At least, not at this point anyways. You do get to explore the exterior if you wish.

  • So finally we have a true successor to virgins Shuttle?

  • In a way, yes ;D

  • you can find space shuttle mission 2007 on

    search

  • Where might i find this Simulator? It looks pretty cool.

  • Click "more info" in the video description. The link is there to the product.

  • This video ist great! The graphics aren't so well as Flight Simualator.. I think the people and the cockpit likes a bit more unrealistic..

  • What it lacks in visuals is more made up for in physics and an absolutely brilliant and realistic depiction of how a Shuttle actually operates.

  • Superb

  • Graphics fine and all the gadgets, but this is stupid there are sounds outside in vacuum! I'll just stay on Orbiter...

  • Of course there are no sounds in a vacuum, however it would be rather bland if there were absolutely no sounds produced in the simulator. However, if you prefer Orbiter because there are no sounds, so be it.

  • No I wasn't trying to say that! there are sounds in Orbiter if you download orbitersound (but not when camera in vacuum). But in this trailer, when the SS is rotating (in orbit) you can hear the sounds from the propulsors outside. Is it the same in game?

  • Oh and does anyone know the name of the song?

  • Which song? There are like 4 in the video.

  • Ohh didnt notice lol, the one that starts at 06:05

    Thanks.

  • As far as I'm aware they're all original pieces produced by the SSM2007 team

  • Negative, the songs were purchased, mostly but not exclusively from the Audio Music Network and other places.

  • Thanks for pointing that out Valkyrie, I had no idea where the music came from

  • I found out where the musik came from. Says on the song in the SSM2007 folder, has the song and where it came from. Some company.

  • I have this game and ive just been astonished by the quality and all the functionality of the Space Shuttle and missions. Truly great game/simulation. Sadly the Shuttle will be retired in 2010 :(

I know its a far question but will there be plans to make an ARES I and V sim aswell in the future?

  • I couldn't honestly answer that. I just did the videos for the guys over at Exciting Simulations. That would be pretty cool though, wouldn't it!?

  • thanks

  • is this a mod for orbiter or is it a game in it self about the space shuttle. im sorry if this is a stuped question but im new to the orbiter and it mods

  • This is a stand alone game.

  • STS-1 had the Worm logo on the wing and not the Meatball vector logo.

Will future textrues address this? Not to nitpick but to be as historically accurate as possible....

  • I believe this has been addressed and will be added in future versions of SSM.

  • i need help with a shader error i know i have to turn of the gl extantions but i does not work for me i got a 8800 gts nvidea graffics card.. but i cant play it :S :( 1440 x 900 wide screen lg

  • Space Shuttle Mission 2007 is the closest any "mortal" can get to the NASA Space Shuttle Slimulator. It is an amazingly educational tool to get people understand the complexity of an STS mission from launch to landing.

  • Exactly! I am so happy to be a member of this project, and quite proud to see folks such as yourself taking the time to post here!

I am happy you enjoy the game and hope that you enjoy future content.

  • And oh yea... Anyone who thinks ORBITER is a better sim needs to stop inhaling space dust.

  • Let's try to be neutral. I'll fly SSM07 whenever I want to fly the shuttle, and Orbiter whenever I want to fly anything else.

  • OK. Orbiter does has it good points The fact that you can download a Soyuz or Gemini Rocket is nice. I was admonished at another post so i apologize, Looks like i struck a nerve.... Just trying to tweak the ORBITER crowd a bit.....

  • No harm. I, and the product have been attacked by a few in the Orbiter community sadly. Frankly, being part of the development team I try to avoid these types of discussions. I will state however that I wouldn't have involved myself in this project if I didn't absolutely love it!

  • Well said :D

  • Seconded. I have played both games and i prefer SSM2007, I will be in 7th heaven with more missions and transparent windows on the shuttle ( Like ORBITER! )

  • I just Finished STS-117... What a downer to finish them all. I what them to hurry and come out with more missions.

  • STS-122 is on the way!

  • Im hearing that they plan to do alot more as far as the sim goes.... Like with the Mission control screen (F11) They want to make that part more interactive, And so on. Its also good to see others are getting the same satifaction from the sim as i have. See you in orbit. ( Doing them again.... )

  • He lies! STS-1 landed at Edwards AFB

  • You are correct, but for the sake of the video, we wanted to show the landing at the Cape.

  • Yes exactly, I was proud to be

  • I just got it also yesterday and I did finish my first STS001 mission, I am so proud lol, very nice simulator, the best ever. I am now looking at my new medal :-D.

  • Congratulations! When you fly the missions in SSM07, there really is a feel of accomplishment that comes along with it, isn't there?

  • yes I was proud to have been able to follow the correct mission. I like the deorbit phase, so realistic ! And espacially the laning phase, you have to focus at any time on your HUD. I want to say that a B747 is more easy to fly.

I am proud to have landed lol !

  • I just got it. It is awesome. Yet a few factual errors. In 1981 there was no glass ockpit in the shuttle cockpit. That didn't start until 2000. And the name "columbia" was on the side of the payload bay door. Plus the wing chines were black. But still it is an awesome, the most realistic of any shuttle sim out there, better than the freeware Orbiter. I hop they will have some add on shuttle missions in the near future.

  • I am glad you enjoy it!

Regarding the glass cockpit, the developer decided at this time to create only the glass cockpit versions of the shuttle to save development time. They have said that it is possible in future versions to get the old "steam gauges," however.

  • Do they have all missions, from STS-1 forward, or just the important ones? Do they have the shuttle disasters simulated (eg. STS-107)? I need to know to lower my dissapointment when I finally get enough money for it.

  • They have at this time most of the important ones, and plan to eventually have most with future downloads from their website (which are free). They will not be simulating the shuttle disasters as they feel it is not tactful.

  • the music during re-entry really gets your neck hairs standing up.

  • True that :D

  • perfect video!!

  • perfect video!!

  • what is the music in this?

  • The music was purchased from multiple websites.

  • Where can i purchase this? They sent me an e-mail saying that they would e-mail me when its out, but they never got back to me. :(

  • The link is listed under "About this video" in the upper right.

  • great video Valk. you already know how much i love your videos but i wanted to comment this once also. You work on the details, making the video more realistic. keep making more videos !!

  • This is amazing, it looks awsome, but where can I get this

  • Click on the link at "about this video" above and to the right. Also, the website link is at the end of the video.

  • nice video, must be a great game, cant wait to test it! only one thing, is it me or did the shuttle burn prograde into the rising sun at 7:53 when trying to reentry? ;) minor detail though, nice touch!

  • The shuttle is performing a final OMS burn before entering the atmosphere. During re-entry, on this particular mission, it is done while facing the sun, which is true to the real life mission as well.

  • lol, sorry

    guess ur the expert...

  • lol, no worried mate. Just don't want others to discredit the software. I want to make it a point to also talk to most of my posters here on YouTube.

  • Space Shuttle Simulator 2007 is now available for purchase!

  • Great movie, like always from you!

    Will SSM2007 support TrackIR?

    Thanks for the appetizer :)

  • As far as I am aware, SSM07 currently does not support trackIR, however it "might" make the release on Christmas. Regardless, if it does not have support by then, from what I know it will soon via patch.

  • So, Valk.. When are you going to make 'Galaxy' Simulator 2008? I'm pretty sure I can pilot that hunk of junk!

  • lol.... snappy ain't ya?

  • Snappy? Never.. I just think a Galaxy Simulator Trailer would be sweet. But then again, that already happened, ergo A Day in BoFA :p

  • I signed up as Space11 on the forum with my hotmail e-mail, and I got rejected...Valkyrie can you help?

  • anyways Great job!

  • Were you taken care of?

  • send an e-mail to "info @ space - shuttle - mission dot com" without the quotes and spaces. They should be able to help you better hopefully.

  • nice vid as always

  • hoooooooooooooolllyyyyyyyy...... i would so get this if my computer didnt suck lol

  • This doesn't take a real beefy computer :)

  • Great job mate! All round top work and very absorbing. Well done!

  • Thanks Mustang.

  • Fantastic work Valkyrie! They were spot on hiring you to make the official video for SSM07. Your work always amazes me and is an inspiration for all film makers. Very polished and professional, 5 stars easy!

  • even better than the first...now is this FSX?

  • This will never work for FSX. This is stand alone software ;)

  • ah, i see, looks pretty neat

  • Oh, it will be slick. Release date is THIS Christmas :D

  • yea, its nothing like i have seen before..will be looking for it then :)
