WOW! It is so evident in her singing that she truly understands Mozart... she meshes his writing so intuitively with her own voice. She captures everything beautiful in Mozart's music... it's so extraordinarily complex and powerful, but she makes it sound EFFORTLESS!
The best Costanze, Konigin der Nacht, Aspasia, Don Anna, Electra. She had a powerful voice mixed with agility which is very rare among sopranos. I wish I could have seen her singing! :-(
I hadn't thought about Moser for years until last night. My local radio station played Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and Moser's singing was perfection. So, I'm listening/watching all of her youtube videos. What a marvelous artist.
This is a masterfully sung Martern Aller Arten by Edda; a dramatic coloratura. I agree with the comment that for the romantic heroine Konstanze a light lyric coloratura is preferable, but Edda's terrific. Yes I prefer her as Donna Anna, Queen of the Night, Aspasia in Mitridate & Elettra in Idomeno. Edda challenged herself & sang heavy roles like Strauss' Salome (& the 4 Last Songs) and Wagner's Isolde's Liebestod & Brunnhilde's Immolation from Gotterdammerung
This is simply amazing. It is by far the best sung version. Edda Moser was a very experienced Mozartian soprano (she successfully sang a grand Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and her Queen of the Night in Magic Flute is unrivaled. For Konstanze, I prefer a voice that is not heavy; Edda Moser's voice is a heavy dramatic coloratura. Had she wanted to, she could have been a dramatic soprano (Turandot, Norma, Salome, Brunnhilde). She did sing Salome & Brunhilde but I prefer a more delicate Konstanze.
wow! that's true! her coloratura agility is stunning! such a huge and heavy dark voice and yet such speed and grace through the phrases! and of course amazing high notes! Yep, Dame Moser is my number one Konstanze now.
My favourite Konstanze ever! She sings the coloratura with such agility.
In an interview she once said that when she recorded this aria, she asked if it were possible to do a recording of the full opera, but they said no because Kurt Moll was missing (as Osmin). Then she suggested to record as much as it without him and the rest afterwards, but it never got round to that either. Soon later she had changed fach and wasn't singing Konstanze anymore. What a shame!
Amazing, just amazing!

Wonderful... they is a very free mood to this interpretation... to dogmatically attack an aria is an insult of the music, true meaning and composer...

@silvr94: I like Moser's and Deutekom's interpretation. Both renditions are different as much as possible, but both are fascinating :-)
