  • cant people jsust take it for what it is?!! Despite traditional style djing being some peoples preference you cant deny what software and technologies have done to make music making and producing either in clubs/ home way more accessible and convenient to people!! so what if its not the same as just vinyl and a mixer, it dont mean its not good

  • that dub techno in the background is dope

  • a dj without headphones isnt a real dj !

  • I'm not knocking the tutorial. He's just demostrating all of the options. I get that. If you're just getting started, all I said was just don't rely on Technology to do the DJing for you. At some point, especially if you become a club DJ, you might have to spin on someone else's gear and won't have technology in front of you to bail you out. If you have skills then you can spin anytime, anywhere and on any gear. So please hone your skills and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!

  • I never used the beat match option on Torq before. I used to drag around crates of records too for over 10 years. I love the convenience of digital DJing but I still let my skills do the talking. I also understand that at some small mobile gigs it's really convenienent and you can also just bring songs in and out easily and still get paid. I do small gigs too that pertains to that. That's why I bought a Vestax VCI-300 specifically for gigs like that.

  • @devin9294..I respect your answer. Everyone else that replied to my comment that I posted over a year ago, if you understood the context of my comment I was just telling the new, young and up n coming DJs to learn your craft, learn your music and train your ears if you're going to become a mixologist or a battle DJ. I said nothing about never using DJ software. To mix proper with DJ software you still need skills. Hell, I used to own Torq and now I own Scratch Live.

  • PLEASE HELP MEE !!! i have an old belt drive DJ-tech no USB turntable if a buy a m-audio torq conectiv can i use like a normal turntable to schratch ????

now accualy i can not use the dj-tech turntable to schratch samples from pc ...

    PLEASE HELP write back

  • I also mix with xponent & torq.

Listen to my mix on Laanicii channel

  • Does this mean you can play audio files from your comp to the vinyl?

  • yeah

  • Exactly.

  • Yes. With program Torq, soundcard & timecoded cd or vinly.

  • I'm not against using software, I use M-Torq uadio myself after using vinyl for years. I love the convenience of digital djing. I'm just trying to help our future DJ's. If this helps any, check out some DJ for dummies videos on you tube or buy them. "WHATEVER YOU DO IF YOU'RE STARTING OUT AS AN ASPIRING DJ.....STAY AWAY FROM DJ HERO!!!!"

  • PEOPLE.....I understand that texting, emailing, blogging and posting comments can get misinterpreted, but my definition of LAZY DJing is what this guy is doing in the video. He's using the waveform patterns to find his beat match. When you're already an experienced DJ then do what you want but I'm talking about beginners learning to beatmatch. If you learn beatmatching beats & bars (typical 4 beats/ 8 to 16 bars) then you'll be able to use any equipment to dj whether it's digital or vinyl.

  • @DJGLeon - Rubbish!

If you know how to DJ then you'll know that beat matching is the tip of the iceburg! ...All this does is assist in beat matching, nothing else. It doesn't mean a rubbish DJ can instantly become an amazing DJ overnight. There's so much more to DJ'ing than simply matching beats!

  • Torq sucks ass its all about SERATO

  • @DJBAZE20 Agreed!

M-Audio have not even bothered to release an update to make Torq work well with Snow Leopord OSX! Serato is infinatley better... Torq crashes all the time and is really unreliable, plus its super slow and a nightmare to use! No wonder its cheap, you couldn't pay me to use it after switching to Serato!

  • What all of the critics hear fail to realize is that at some level, everyone hits a brick wall with all of these skills. Then the question is, are you committed enough to breakthrough/climb over that barrier and excel. Software is just another tool to master -- nothing more. At some point, real music lovers and pros will catch you quick when you're "emulating something" and people will loose interest -- which usually happens right about the time that you realize you've run out of ideas...

  • The only reason i'd use a software like this is to have shit loads of tunes without needing to buy vinyls but with the feel of vinyl... Wouldn't use all those plugins that basically let you cheat :D

  • What this guy is teaching (and he probably doesn't realize it) is lazy DJing. I've been DJing for over 20 years and whether you're spinning vinyl, CDs, MIDI or software only, YOU NEED TO LEARN THE TRUE ART OF MIXING WITHOUT THE HELP OF TECHNOLOGY. Train your ears, learn beat counting in your head to get your BPM and understand what breaks/ bars are in a song. Then you can enjoy the luxuries of the DJ softwares.

  • AMEN!

  • YES!!! I use this occasionally, but it so easy. there is no skill to this. Nothing will replace my good old vinyls and my technics 1210's.

  • Or you could go out and learn how to play an actually instrument and then take what you've learned and apply it to anything you want.

The Concept of the Lazy Dj is pretty ironic to me. Spend 15 years playing piano and then maybe you can have an opinion.

  • the only reason i would get one of these is to not need to hunt down vinyl

  • @DJGLeon Well, can't you see that he doesn't have headphones...

  • @DJGLeon He's not teaching DJ'ing techniques; he's demonstrating different features and capabilities of the Torq system. This is from 2007 when Torq was first released, don't write comments like an idiot because your probably not!

  • @DJGLeon thats tru bro but you also have to take the mobile dj's into consideration! if your a dj and you do alot of gigs, you dont want to lug around crates of records and cds! this isnt necesarily cheating, its just compacting your music. you still have to sync the decks together and all that, and the wave forms dont have to be used! it realy just emphasizes teh whole mobile dj term!

  • what's the song in the beginning?

  • Kraftwerk - Tour De France Etape 1

  • This video is horrible. Show the options you are mentioning as you mention them.

  • where to set absolute and relative mode ??

  • on the very left and right side the button with the 2 triangles

  • Is the Connectiv compatible with my American Audio CK-1000 which is a DUAL CD/mp3 player and mixer?

  • No.

  • This program has no good tutorials

  • can you guide me, step by step to set up the rec. mode & be able to record my mix? Once I press save and designate a folder it opens empty. thanks

  • how do you loop tracks properly?...used to hace traktor and was v.easy (1,2,4,8,32 beats adjust the position of it, etc...) just changed to torq and it is completely mad!

    thx

  • i have a regular macbook 2.4 i cant use torq????

  • You can use Torq with a Mac

  • it wont let me install it :(

  • Hm, reinstall your Mac then. It has nothing to do with Mac in general but your personal Mac.

  • Go to there website and download the most updated version, i had that error too.

  • hahah this program seems to work like SHIT! i'm heading for Serato!

  • serato its for weenies

    TORQ

  • i plan to get a laptop that is MAC APPLE 1.83GHZ CORE DUO 2 .. im quite worry wil torq suit the laptop ? cuz i heard torq has alot of trouble on laptop ..

  • i run torq on my Macbook, i have practically no problems with this hardware and software. the only issue i've had is torq not noticing the hardware, but this only happens like 1 in 20 times when loading, and is easily remedied by restarting the laptop with connectiv plugged in. once running its been absolutely spot on

  • LOL GOOD ASS LAPTOPS DUMB OWNERS LOL read a fucking manual it needs a speed 7200 RPM of harddrive speed it doesnt matter if you have POWERBOOK,mac mac bullshit TORQ requires fast RPM not some expensive laptop....bird brains

  • I think a lot of serato users are just hatin couse they paid more for less ! I rocked torq friday for the first time and trust me it kicks ass ! I even used the vst efx on it and people were amazed that I didn't have to connect a external efx processor

  • hmmm just bought it, £179.00, cheaper than other alternatives. the actual unit is a bit "plasticy" and cheap looking. They could have made it out of METAL n strong! No external socket power plug or extra rca cables which are need!! Thats kind of annoying. I HOPE the actual software and unit works well. !!

  • hey bizzyfingers did you ever get the problem resolved..i just bought torq a week ago and a new IMAC 10.4.10 and im having the same problem..took to guitar center where i bought and they couldnt help me, called m-audio and they said to so a disk repair on my Imac and still no luck..wondering if you had any luck with the problem..i have a gig next month and i was planning on using it ..

  • I have torq and have used it for quite some time. It has only froze on me once. And luckily it wasnt in a live setting. It is a good program but I wish the GUI was more customizable.

  • oh for *&^% sakes!!!!!!!............ *&%*$!!!! i just bought this m-audio torq with control vinyl, cant get the damn thing to work! everytime i try it it says please attach your m-audio hardware and launch torq again!!! my mac (10.4.7) said its picked it up in system pref in the other file.... really confused. ive tried every driver still no fun

  • I am having the same problem,,,, does any one have an answer??

  • As in,,, my computer recoginses the device but torq doesn't!!

  • what is your laptop brand and type ?

  • get a mac....and serato.

  • he IS using a mac

  • get a mac....and serato.

  • yea serato is the way to go its every djs thing

  • i saw this one dj on youtube and while he was scratching the sample drifted forward from the original start point and the needle didnt even jump. he was using Torq

  • imoa mixvibes is the one and only

  • I've seen a dude use a pair of CDJ 500's, i laughed at him coz that gear was sooo old yet he had the crowd movin all nite!

Moral of the story is, you can have serato, torq or whatever, but you still need to obtain the skill and knowledge to to rock a crowd! That only comes with hours & hours of practice and as many gigs as possible... I'm a Serato user and love it to bits, however Torq looks pretty cool!

  • TORQ has bad sound quality? Now I know you are talking out of your (fill in blanks). For a first gen product, it is extremely tight and sound amazing. If you are having issue with sound then it's not the program it's your set up or sound files. Serato is a good program but TORQ has so much more to offer and it hasn't even gone 2.0. The future seems bright for TORQ if they keep up with development.

  • Trying it costs $

  • Torq is awsome and the sound quality is only as good as your equiptment.

Don't knock it till you try it.

  • anyone who says it's a crap serato hasn't used torq, and paid a lot more money for serato..

  • so you guys reckon serato is the tits?? im thinkin of buyin one and its either serato or final

  • yo man, my cousin bought torq! The sounds quality sucks ass!! and the screen display sucks compared to serato

  • haha. ok. does your cousin know there is like 100 different skins?

  • Hmmm.... Maybe his laptop is the problem, cuz MANNY of people online are giving this thing MUCH PROPS!

  • its a crap serato!

  • Stop hatin'! It blows serato out the watter in price and tons of extras serato cant do! So how do you figure!?!
