  • Bet it bloody stinks lol

  • I am looking to do something like that for my Snakes and Rats the only thing is Electric how do I solve that? Please respond thanks.

  • @dodgeviper242 Simply run an extension cord inside. :)

  • there really cute :)

  • great video, really enjoyed the tour!

  • @darkseren

As I said, I don't have a problem with feeding rodents and such to reptiles. They have gotta eat. What I don't like is the highly clinical attitude towards food animals over pet animals. Pet rats are kept in light, airy, spacious conditions with loads of stimulation and are cleaned out very regularly. They are handled carefully and treated with respect. I think these standards should apply to "food" animals.

  • @Spyderling im with you that these food animals should be treated better but, animals bred to be pets, are actually bred in even worse conditions than this, petco buys their rodents from farms, where they receive even worse care, and when a rodent gets out of its cage, they dont chase it to put it back in the cage, they simply step on it and kill it so it cant get away... almost any mass produced animal receives bad care, even animals that are bred to be pets

  • To Spyderling... I understand your objestion, but how about giving dogs bones or cats tuna? They dont have the chase either, but thats because they are a pet, and you care for them..snakes are not the only meat eaters..Do you hunt for the meat you eat(assuming you eat meat)? Probably not, so....

  • That was pretty damn close to optimum.......most pets are cleaned once a week and he said every 5 days...my prob would be with 90+ temps and mostly bc the uncomfortable warm weather will make them produce less.

  • This is considered "good"?

Oh, I guess it doesn't matter if you have dozens of rats in a bin and only clean them once a week, as they're being used for food, right?

I have little objection to feeding rodents to reptiles. Better that than they starve, even if it isn't a natural predator vs prey chase. However, if you can't keep the animals (including those used for food) in an optimum environment, you have no business keeping them.

How is it OK to pick that female up by her tail?

  • @Spyderling I understand your objection, but think about it..If you eat meat, do you catch it yourself? probably not, at least the snake can kill its food for itself instead of having prepared for them like humans..also, how about giving a cat tuna or giving a dog a bone? Its the same principal.

  • @Spyderling

and also, imagine if it was your job to feed these mice to the snakes, it would be very hard if you got attached, im guessing thats why they pick them up by the tail instead of cuddling it.

  • why do you put the food on top?how do they get through the mesh?

  • Food is usualy placed on top to keep it from getting spoiled by urine. The rodents nibble on the parts that poke thru untill it's all gone.

  • Lol.. "freedom breeder". The racks are sold under that name. Fantastic idea. I'm not against having captive animals, but when you are bred in a box and fed to a snake. The word freedom never comes to mind hehe..

  • I think it's refering to the time it frees up for the breeder by making it easy to manage, lol.

  • ya the males can die from over breeding its true i know. they just where out and die.

  • to many female for a male. i like to keep it down to five females to one male. your get more babies that way. the male can die from over breeding

  • Hello, Great rack sytem. Where can I buy the tubing, fittings & values to build a water set-up like that?? Also, where do you buy the prego tubs?? Great job!

  • Do you guys Ship? mail me

  • Hey nice video. Very cool. After you wean the rats and put them in the holding bin, do you separate them in male holding bins and female holding bins? Or do they all go together. Thanks!

  • chicagoherps is right, they could do with more bedding or ast least just a pile of shredded newspaper to sleep on.

Jaywillis - this would efinitly work for mice.

gaz691 - you can keep on a maximum (aprox) 23 females with 1 male for reproduction rates to be best, but with that many females another male can usually be added.

    Nice set-up.0

  • you keep 12 to 15 females per bin, i only have 6 females to one male, could i go up to 10 to 12 do you think

  • suprisingly clean

  • Would this setup work for mice as well?

  • i had posted weeks ago and had asked where you located ?

  • Nice video..but those bins looks like they need more beeding. Most of the bins the rats are standing on the tub's bottom

  • PETA would have a field day with this one. LOL. I love the video though.

  • where r you located? thanks.

  • It appears to be a nice operation. My many snakes would keep you busy just keeping up in your breeding project. :)

  • Very good facility, well kept and maintained.

  • @reclipse3 Yes, ive got to agree, its a great set up and very ahppy with it. Im even going to use his setup as an idea to start my breeding program

  • ummmmmmmmmmm ok, so isit a good "farm" or are they poorley kept
