My fiance and I were planning on having our wedding and reception at the Mountain Winery until this suicide happened. Now we're not sure... it seems there will be a dark cloud over this place after this happened. This guy was a real selfish bastard to do this at such a wonderful place in front of innocent people. Not only that but he risked the lives of others in the process (the band). I don't feel sorry for him at all, just for the people in attendance who had to witness this despicable act.
The reason why I watched this video was because of my own morbid curiosity with death. I will admit that I do suffer from depression and often feel suicidal, I will openly admit to that. I believe it is an illness, will being lost in the waves of a sickness not get me any sympathy from some people? I don't want to get into any specifics relating to my own problems but I can tell you, depression is hard to live with and easy to die from.

Mike's story is tragic. A few years ago he had it made; his business was booming, he competed (and did well) in Ironman races, in short he had a great life. His fall from grace was as dramatic as his fall onto that stage. You should try showing a bit of respect and lot more compassion.

Mike struggled against demons from his upbringing, his family, and later with substance abuse. To say that he did everyone a favor is amazingly callous, rude, and disrespectful.

Also, it's easier to continue living because we're all afraid of what's on the other side. Is there a heaven or hell, or is there just an unconscious void? It is a horrible thing to witness. We can't really "should" on a dead man. Rather than criminal, I think he was sick. The sad thing is that other sick individuals see all the attention this is getting and they fantasize about going out in a blaze of glory. This may lead to copycats, like the teenagers in the Gunn highschool suicide cluster or the men in China attacking school children with knives and getting killed by cops.

@simbasa i do think his act was extreme and very hurtful - i'm only refering to suicide itself be it on your own or whatever. I am delighted you got help but if the help did not work then the thoughts would persist and possible eventually override any feelings for family .I believe that us humans have a huge capacity for love and empathy but that goes out the window when we become severly depressed- a fact of one of the main symptoms of depression.

If you want to kill yourself, that's your choice, but to do it like this, where your goal is to traumatize people enjoying a concert, and possibly kill someone on stage, is nothing short of disgusting. people - educate yourself before using the word "selfish" when it comes to suicide - yes the way this man finished his life is seflish but suicide brought on by severe depression can be the act of a very compassionate, thoughtful human being who has struggled with crippling mental anguish for years to the point where the illness removes all joy, all hope , all love. When you have none of these thing and still think suicide is selfish let me know .

The last thing I would ever have thought of doing was to kill myself in front of other people like this man did. This guy decided to leave a few victims in his wake. Some of them 7 year old kids. The man apparently landed close to Glen, but Glen still manages to show consideration towards the deceased and his family. I'm surprised at all these people who were sitting rows down and their complaints about this mans selfishness. It was no doubt hard to witness, but calling him selfish is frankly saying more about them than anyone else.

It's terrible that everyone had to witness such a thing, but to call the man selfish just seems ignorant. I've been a big fan of Glen and Mar for a long time and I'm so impressed with the way they have handled this. Their official statement about the incident: The band, crew and all involved with them are shocked and saddened by the death that occurred at last night's show. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased, his family and friends.

Suicide is neither "selfish" nor cowardly. In a different spin... Who are others to tell him he doesn't own his existence and thus be able to decide when to end it? Also, it's easier to continue living because we're all afraid of what's on the other side. Is there a heaven or hell, or is there just an unconscious void? It takes a lot of courage (or insanity) to take that lunge into the darkness instead of staying in the familiar living world.

He could have killed someone on stage. He landed a few feet from one of the musicians. And he was out on bail for assault with a firearm, domestic violence and false imprisonment.

They decided to end their life in front of A LOT of people, who will forever have this embedded in their minds for the rest of their life. Some will deal with it better then others, but to witness something like this is life changing.
To many people, this act was indeed selfish, to some it was not, but everyone has their own opinion on the matter.

Everyone needs to feel worth something in order to sustain a will to survive; too many people are outside the 'acceptable' box these days, particularly if they don't swallow the official commercial/fascist line to a tee.

Whether or not he was depressed, this man did this in a way where he wanted everyone to see and witness his death, even the children in the audience. He drove up a windy road to this winery. He paid $20 to park. He sat through half the concert. And when he was ready, he killed himself where all of us would have to witness it and be forced to see something ugly that we would never be able to forget. Not selfish? You can only say that if you weren't there. Sorry if that makes me an ugly person.

Sometimes people have no choice, they're forced into a life that's complete Hell on Earth and they have no way to get out of it. Why live in such a way??? That makes NO sense. It is a horrible thing to witness. We can't really "should" on a dead man. Rather than criminal, I think he was sick. The sad thing is that other sick individuals see all the attention this is getting and they fantasize about going out in a blaze of glory. This may lead to copycats, like the teenagers in the Gunn highschool suicide cluster or the men in China attacking school children with knives and getting killed by cops.
