  • oh es realmente hermosa Cleopatra

  • the only thing she's missing is the proper diadem for her hair. R.I.P. lovely Elizabeth.

  • i just wanna see a Cleopatra movie where Cleopatra has Egyptian color.... clearly she is not Egyptian. i love her performance. great woman... but im just saying... if your in Egypt, be Egyptian. ish*

  • @VJpenna Cleopatra Ptolemy was of Macedonian decent, just like the rest of the Ptolemy family that ruled for generations.. not egyptian or even african. If you're going to be politically correct at least know what you're talking about.

  • @canadakt Even the Ptolemy's wore traditional Egyptian dress/makeup and wore their Egyptian wigs...it sounds as if you're the one who's misinformed. The real Cleopatra would look a lot more similar to the one portrayed in HBO's Rome series. A Mediterranean in facial features but distinctly Egyptian in culture. How the hell else would they be able to rule an entire empire as reincarnations of their traditional deities?

  • @canadakt thank you for correcting people that need to be corrected

  • @VJpenna she is GREEK!!!!!!!! alexander the great gave the Ptolemy's thier egyptain land. she wears greek clothes so it is perfect!

  • @VJpenna Learn a little something before making these statement please.

  • God! What was done with the sets and props from this film? Not only the epic size of the film; the scandal of her and Burton during the making and now her passing . . . the props would fetch a handsome price in auctions. (Just in case anyone at Fox is listening).

  • 'were she not a woman, one would consider her to be an intellectual'. the cheek of it.

  • @swansong95 When men were men, and Rome ruled the World.

  • though it is quite too old very good creation still you can enjoy even in 2011

  • R.I.P Elizabeth

Can some one explain what happened to Caesar, and what that man did to him? Please

  • @AnneBoleyn808 He had an epileptic seizure. The man put a special stick in his mouth so he wouldn't choke on his own tongue. (This explains why he was called "Julius Seizure" .. [joke])

  • I love this movie! they portray Cleopatra much better! in the 1999 version of it Cleopatra seemed like a weak slut :( R.I.P Elizabeth Taylor<3

  • @ZCullen1 well, she was a bit of a slut - but certainly not weak!

  • ugggghhhh!!! no hot scenes... =[

  • @pulisilva1 Actually, this film was seriously considered very 'lewd' for scenes such as Elizabeth Taylor getting a massage (shown in this segment) along with other scenes. This was 1963, you know.

  • SHE GOT THAT SHIT ON LOCK!

  • @2him1way I think it was epilepsy

  • this is one of the best scenes! I really like the battle of wits between Cleo and Julius! Also i didn't know wat was happening to Julius at 7:58. When i first saw it i was all WTF? I didn't know that he was epileptic. 9:20 DAAAMMNN! ;)

  • 9:20 whoa... bet the censors gave them hell for that!

  • @ProtestantIRA it was completely a useless scene, put there just for the sake of it.

  • @2him1way He was having an epileptic seizure.

  • Cannot think of anyone other than Liz to play Cleo.

  • I am not sure I want to be rubbed by you any way, young lady..

  • cleopatra is so full of herself her personality in this movie mildly annoys me even though they have done a good job

  • The original is always better.

  • she's supposed to come out of the rug sensually and seduce him but she comes out and try to act all hard and then argue. this doesn't make no sense at all to me

  • I'm sorry but this cleopatra sucks, she doesn't look young, he keep saying young lady and it's weird. her voice sucks. the 1999 one was sort of cheezy but i liked way better than this one

  • Rex Harrison was such a womanizer.

  • This movie has so many great lines!

    1:57

Cloepatra: "you're not a fool or are you?

    Cesar: "immodestly perhaps, no"

  • I love the caesar x cleopatra conversation

so engaging, so enticing, so old hollywood !

  • The corridors are dark gentlemen but you mustn't be afraid, I am with you. "speechless"

  • "what are YOU waiting for?"

    "Permission to leave"

    lol I love that part

  • @Mittenzzs: Lol. I can tell you're a bit on the "imperious" side. ;)

  • @tommy9911 hehe. Why thanks.

  • @Mittenzzs: It's my privilege, Queen Mittenzzs, daughter of Isis.

  • @tommy9911 You flatter me :p

  • @Mittenzzs: Hey, I wish they could all be California girls. ;)

  • "the corridors are dark gentlemen, but you mustnt be afraid i am with you' I LOVE THE WAY SHE SAID THAT!!

  • your not a fool or i

i love the way she says tht!

  • Caesar's great grandson the wacko Caligula was an epileptic too!

  • @HistoryLover1550 Caligula was not a blood relative of Caesar; Augustus himself was only a grand nephew.

  • @HistoryLover1550 Caligula was not a direct descendant of Caesar; Augustus himself was only Caesar's grand nephew because his mother was the daughter of Caesar's eldest sister.

  • @AemiliaPaulla Your right, Augustus was Caligula's great grandfather, I made a small mistake with the Julio-Claudian family tree. Thanks for correcting me.

  • For Cleopatra lovers, check out my dreamcast for the movie to be made based on Stacy Schiff's new bio. Comment, rate, let me know what u think. Thnx!

  • Elizabeth Taylor rocked in this!

  • this is my favorite and most accurate version of cleopatra, elizabeth exude elegance, grace, intellect, charisma, beauty that embody a queen.

  • I do believe that Elizabeth Taylor is the most beautiful woman alive, but sadly, I also believe that if she were that age in popular culture today, many people wouldn't consider her beautiful, instead comparing her to the fake-plastic and talentless nymphs on screen today.

  • "I'm not sure I want to be rubbed by you at all, young lady."

OMGLOL. That's what she said moments all over this freaking movie.

  • I'm going to start saying "For the time being" to sound more aristocratic.

  • god elizabeth taylor.one of the most beautiful actresses ever <3

  • soooo i found out that Caesar nor Mark Antony really loved Cleopatra and im pissed =(

  • @ToriiiaaaX You are mistaken. They Both did. Caesar refused to go back to Rome when he was needed, and Markus Antonius fled the battlefield to be with her.

  • idk if there was ever a woman more beautiful than Taylor, the epitome of it being @ 9:07...

  • @davidpar2 Nah. It's all about 9:23.

  • i hate octavian for murdering cleopatra!!!!!

  • @rweerakkody4565 she got bitten by an asp snake. -_-

  • @BleedingHeartWorld discovery channel disputed the tradtional death of cleopatra: bitten by a snkae......they claim she was poisoned by octavian so he could steal the throne of egypt...=)

  • @rweerakkody4565 ah... i don't do the S&E shit anymore XD

  • @rweerakkody4565 Many experts now believe he did away with her instead of her taking her own life, I wouldn't be surprized if he did.

  • Cleopatra PWNS.

  • I wonder what Sophia Loren would have done with this role.

  • @Xenu she did she made a movie u can actually watch on youtube called two nights with cleopatra

  • @Xenu Im sure she would've played it excellently! She was awesome in The Fall of the Roman Empire!

  • This is one of my most favorite movies! They even talk about the burning of the library of Alexandria!

  • @WynneCarluk You should watch the movie Agora, that focuses on the daughter library in the Serapeum.

  • @HistoryLover1550 I am sure it would just make me even more mad. The world would not be a very good place if that were to happen again.

  • @WynneCarluk Ikr! it would be the greatest wound to humanity!

  • "Were she not a woman, one would consider her to be an intellectual." Wow.

  • Awesome! Old movies are always awesome!

  • Cleopatra was awesome. I want a Cleopatra in my life.

  • Elizabeth looked so pretty when she was young

  • @jack0000ize Yeah, and she's a great actress!

  • movie is boring dirty

  • @ravving

Not to be rude, but this movie is very accurate historically. And not every story has a big twist at every turn. I prefer to focus on the intriguing characters, elaborate costumes, and political rivalry. Those parts are enough to get me to enjoy this movie.

  • @ravving This movie is a classic. If you find it so boring it is an indication of your lack of education.

  • Thank you.

  • how about considering... if they said "dura" in the 1960s to the American movie going population they would have have understood what they meant.. I think its less of a mistake and more of keeping the terms simple enough for 1960s general audiences.

  • ...ok...i've seen US citizens and it's knolege in "action"!!...get the point?

that was so true for 1960's people as today most US think's swizerland is in some back part of Asia!....the guys are DUMB!...and getting DUMBER!...and proud of it!(exelent for new world order!).

..."let's use only terms we know!,why learn anything else new?!"....

God does in fact EXIST!...he did not make "american"!!! ;)THANK GOD!.

  • Apollodorus...thank you...

The way she looked at her servant, it would seem he'd been providing stud service for a while to Queen Cleopatra

  • ...notice taken...never the less, both word's are used in the same sentance!...

    ...anyway who cares...?

    it's just a great moovie...;)

  • CORN???...corn is a native american PLANT!!!...and the american continent was not discovered untill 1500 AD!!!...europe ou egipt did not know of it's existence!.

  • @alemtejoincavlobranc

    aww you silly boi!

in english, when talking of antiquity, corn refers to grain. if there is a mistake here its that the writers had cleopatra say grain AND corn. but its not at all a mistake to talk of corn.

  • @alemtejoincavlobranc You might want to look up Egyptian corn sometime.

I find its best to know what one is talking about before opening ones mouth. It lessens, only slightly in your case, the chance of being perceived as a moron.

  • @snowboredsnj

Thank's for the tip!!!!...how about looking it up your self???

The original term is "DURA"...it is not even clossely ralated to CORN (maize)...and the term CORN was only associated to DURA in the late 18th century!!!...due to the fact, that then, like today...you hade too many "ignorants"...that prefer too be RUDE and vulgar, rather then...otherwise!.

And please...don't tel me your an AMERICAN!!! (US citizen)...PLEASE!!!

  • When they say "corn" they mean grain. What we call corn now, Native Americans called "maize."

  • ever since a kid i felt in love with her

  • wut r u waiting for ?the permission to leave lol the way he sed it wuz funny :D

  • He has an instinct about those things LOL!!!

  • corn ?????it was brought from America,in the 16'th century, fuck

  • 9:20 - Wow! Hard to imagine this in a 1963 mainstream movie. Kinda make you wonder if Liz would have shown more if the censors would have allowed it.

  • "I am not your servant Caesar, do not dismiss me"

    Caesar just got served

  • @Abridgedfan134 Oh yeah!

  • @Abridgedfan134 Cleopatra was a little bitch wasn't she?" haha love it!

  • @Andeeslife That is what every historian says

  • @Abridgedfan134 But then he counters "You have no army." A good point.

  • shes really scary lol

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!

    It's one of my favorites!!!!

  • I am epileptic, its not brain damage. Mine was caused by terrible nerves that I got because of being bullied at high school.

Its reassuring to me that someone great like Caesar was epileptic! I would like to be someone great too!

  • @tudorqueenesther I'm epileptic as well, but I was simply born that way. I never got bullied, sorry to hear that.

Yea, it is kind of odd to know that such legendary people were able to overcome that, especially since there was virtually nothing to make things easier.

  • @tudorqueenesther Well, he was only human!

  • @tudorqueenesther I once read Alexander the Great was also epileptic, you've got a lot of outstanding company.

  • @ProtestantIRA

Alexander was not epileptic, but he did have scoliosis. He was also short.

  • @tudorqueenesther i like you. you have a sweet heart and your faith is strong. i cryed when i read your comment dont change embrace your self

  • @tudorqueenesther sounds like you already are :)

  • ''i'm not sure i wanna be rubbed by you at all!" -Ceaser LMAO she just got checked.

  • you must take me on a tour one day..inside the walls of your palace = I wanna f*ck you, lol.

  • What are you waiting for?

    Permission to leave.. Lol

  • @ cecillbill - Agreed! lmao

  • Ha! Even in their first scene together, Cleopatra owns Cesar! ^^

  • epilepsy is a strange thing... I have seizures when i pass out when i see blood or needles. that's the only time, i got an EEG and tested negative. I gave a friend who has epilepsy and will have seizures if she doesn't take her migraine medicine. Its a strange thing with your nervous and brain systems and muscles.

  • epilepsy is not brain damage in itself but it can be caused by a trauma to the head-

  • wt happen to cesar, when he was alone in the room?

  • He had an epileptic seizure. In that day, it was called the "falling sickness". Some people saw it as a sign of divinity. Others saw it as demonic possession.

  • thx very much for replying my comment...

  • LOL X''D

  • Caesar had epilepsy.

  • Thank you, I wasn't sure why he fell until I read your comment :).

  • Isn't that brain damage?

  • I'm not sure. It's some kind of misfiring between the brain and nervous system.

I've no idea what causes it.

  • It's a neurological disorder, caused by tumors, holes in the brain, to many electrons vs. neutrons on each side, overpowering of either side of the brain.

I, myself, have Jackson's Epilepsy due to a hole in the center of my brain. It's embarrassing and the medicine hardly works for it. It is triggered by stress, flashing lights and sickness for me.

  • sorry to hear <3
