  • This is a vertical Marcellus well, drilled in May 2010 according to the WVDEP.

  • Thanks, Yes I agree this is disturbing. According to the WVDEP oil & gas map and data site, this is well # 017-05966 with the target formation of Marcellus, all public info, if you can wade through the site.

  • Looking at the surface equipment (separators, heater, meter, etc.), I SERIOUSLY doubt that this is a Marcellus well. It clearly is not a horizontal. It is likely a shallow conventional well that was fractured with nitrogen (which is inert), and the well is being allowed to vent the nitrogen so the gas will meet the quality specs of the gatherer (DTI or EQT). NOT a Marcellus!!! Irresponsible to claim it is!

  • @xander1953 good call. Way to small to be a horizontal well. It looks like something that was drilled back in 1996. This was not "slick water" fraced. We wouldn't waste our time on this little thing.

  • @xander1953 Let me guess, an employee??? Must be to know so much about the equipment being used. I guess it's easier to ignore when the company pays your bills.

  • You never know what you're going to find when you go bird watching in Doddridge county anymore!
