For studio / portrait photography do you recommend the continuous lighting or would you recommend to use speed lights through the same setup (3 point lighting setup)?
@Ibinhluan because gray is better than white to control light, and therefore the colors. white reflects too much light, and gray is usually a good all around solution. Also, if you noticed, the color of the background in the photos was a bit orange, and thats because of the temperature color he used
Careful guys, I have seen a lot of people using more strobe power than they can handle. If you have a 500W-S strobe and you turn it's power all the way down and you still have too much light, what do you do?
A 150W-S strobe can be more than enough for someone doing portraits in their basement. Of course, it will also depend on your light modifiers and other factors, but I doubt a DIY guy will need more than 300W-S.
For decent results, some might say at least 400w. But others advise for more powerful flashes. In my opinion, I would suggest to go for at least 500W.

1, 2, 3, monotony. What if the good shot falls on 2 or 5? Stick with renting stuff and leave the shooting to your customers.

Any advice on what light voltage to get, watts? I was told that 300 watts would not be enough for a portrait shooting.
