ROFL. Apparently there's enough wind in the simulation to cause fags to flap, but not enough to rustle the tips of trees or influence the path of rising smoke.
@Nassault630 Oh yes, still the same crappy responses from Pc gamers. Ok, there are some very nice tech demos and.....tech demos and 3D Mark 2011...but..where are the games? Real games using DX11 at full capacity. I believed that next gen consoles comes out very soon after DX 11 is released but now, because of the new economic crysis I think the 10 year life span will be VERY REAL !! That means Xbox360 and PS3 games being converted to PC. With no use of DX11...my oppinion.
@psychonaut25 Your opinion sucks. You're pulling these statistics out of thin air. Clearly, you have PC gaming in mind, because in the contexts you used, it's spelled Crisis, not Crysis,( the most advanced game physically and graphically, something a console knob rider could never play). Consoles brag about smooth frame-rates at 120. What the fuck is the point of 120FPS? Tell me, please.
@Nassault630 YOU suck mister very hard, Crysis is spelled CRYSIS,not Crisis.And I can play it, CrYsis 2 is for Xbox 360, and it's not that much different from PC version. And PC players are a different types than console players.I want to play,now, without any questions or install.It's only about what people want. And as you can see they still want games, and most of casual players can piss on DX11 if the game that they are playing is fun. Look at Wii. It's pretty crappy hardware.....
@Nassault630 .....but the games are what really matters. On PC there is a big hype about DX11, only tech demos everywhere..but where the fuck are the games??? REAL GAMES for DX11...
@psychonaut25 Battle Field 3 is DX10-11 API and has Tessellation. The games you speak of will be rolling out in larger numbers in the coming year 2012.
@Cargh So far as i have seen the demos from BF3, it looks quite the same like on consoles, of course it runs in higher resolution on PC. But who knows...;-)
@griv2000 Didn't understand until I thought about real world physics haha. All the smoke from the smoke pipes should be moving with the wind. Good catch
If I had seen such graphics in 2001 when I was a teenager buying my first PC, I would definitely cum.
Compare this with watch?v=dQHtk9hmA94 for example
But now I have too much gaming experience and god how I miss good gameplay of classic games and games where the sense of immersion is achieved by programmed behaviour first and graphics, sound, physics, whatever only second
While loading I ran away and I called the fireman, because my pc would Explode
Results: They were about to sue me for calling them for no reason, but when they saw the 2 FPS that my PC had, they laughed so hard at my face that they didn't sue me
This shouldn't even be a discussion.. obviously PCs can be more powerful than consoles. Consoles use modified PC hardware. The PS3/360 have held onto the same architecture since 2006/2005. Consoles have optimization for games, yes, but that can't compete with that many years of hardware upgrades. I play both consoles and on the PC, and it's unfortunate that the vast majority of games are ported from the console, since those of us who have gaming rigs can't really use them to their potential.
@Kloborgg Just a little thing. Consoles don't have any optimazation for games. It have no problem to run games because of : an outdated resolution, no any AA, no VS, outdated graphics, outdated engine (Call of duty 7 still uses the same engine as Call of duty 2), low textures resolution, really low poly count models.
It still uses the same graphics as in 2004. The only difference today is the overuse of bloom effect.
Not true at all. Textures are much sharper, models have much higher poly counts, and most console games do use AA. Yes, they use a lower resolution, but that doesn't change the fact that graphics are getting better on more limited hardware.
@Kloborgg The consoles are not running better graphics on more limited hardware because each time there's a little graphics upgrade, the only way to make the game playable will be to do a "railway" game. Really little game area with the lowest number of object to give the console a chance to run smoothly.
Oh, that's why GTA 4 was so small and had such poor graphics? That's why Red Dead was such an ugly, limited game? That's why Fallout and Oblivion and Fable and Bad Company are so tiny? Listen, I'm the first to say that console hardware is limiting PC games, but to say that games like Uncharted are not extremely impressive given the limitations is just stubborn.
@Kloborgg Red dead is desertic. GTA 4: 50% of the map is water plus buildings have really low poly count.. The map is ridiculously small and same for oblivion. Fallout 2 and Morrowind have way bigger maps and when it as been put on console, we got way smaller maps. Fable is not big at all and bad company nor. I have an example for you: crysis had big maps for a lot of high detailed models and crysis 2 is just a crap railway game without any freedom. Why do that if the consoles are not as crap?
Why do that? Because cities are smaller than tropical islands? And calling Crysis 2 a "crap railway game" makes me think you've never touched it. By that logic, Half Life 2 is a "crap railway game". Why are Starcraft 2's graphics so poor? Why is Counter Strike so small? Because of the game's designs. There's a difference between being a PC gamer who recognizes outdated console hardware, and being a stubborn elitist who can see no good about consoles. You give yourself a bad name.
@Kloborgg There's a difference between designs games and consoles games that each time it gets "okay" graphics, it turns into a railway game. I'll not judge Half Life because I never played it and don't take me for a kid who judge everything on nothing. I played Crysis 2 and everybody said that's a good game never played the first one. What about stubborn elitist who can't admit consoles are outdated? Do you know how it cost to build a 360? About $250, >> in 2006. Today, less than 80$.
I never said consoles are outdated.. you're just being a dumbass. You've never played Half Life and you're trying to tell me about good game design? I've played Crysis and Warhead since release on GPUs ranging from the 8800 to the 570. Crysis 2 certainly has its technical problems, but it's anything but railway. And watch this: it's a good game.
There's a difference between being an enthusiast and being a pissy bitch.
@Kloborgg. I don't meant that you said console are outdated, I was talking about people in general who thinks that. I don't said what's a good game design, I said that crysis 2 is a railway game. And Half Life 2's not the only well designs game in the world... not because I don't played it that I know nothing about design. "And watch this: it's a good game." It's just words, not truth. Not a railway? Following a single way with script actions and no any freedom, what is it if not a railway game?
One way? No freedom? There are at LEAST 3 ways to approach any combat scenario. Why not play the game before you bitch about it. Yes, the first Crysis was better, but all things considered the Crysis 2 SP was still very fun and offered more freedom than average.
@Kloborgg I played it and combat are too basic. I played at the last difficulty and combat was always: get invisible, find a cover, kill an ennemy, get invisble, kill another one. It is always the same thing: clean the area and continue on the rail. You can't choose by which way you'll get to the objective, you can't choose if you kill somebody or not, you do it or you don't pass. That's it. It offered more freedom than average but it's not hard to do better than a console game.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. A game running better automatically means that it has better graphics? I guess ARMA 2 is the best looking game ever made! Anyways, I never argued that Crysis 2 looks better than Crysis 1, you're pulling that out of your ass.
@Kloborgg That's what I mean. Every games who get on console will turn into railway or really little game area to give the console a chance to run smoothly
Example: Elder scrolls series. Daggerfall, only on pc, had about a 400 000 square km map then morrowind as been put on console > about 25 square km
And have you looked at the vehicle in crysis 2? The weapons? The trees? They all look in plastic and they're low poly. The particles in the explosion? There's a lot less and the physic is crap
...Why do you keep arguing that Crysis 2 looks worse than Crysis 1... I know it does. Seriously, I don't give a shit about Crysis. The first game was terrible after 3 levels and serves as a benchmarking tool more than a game. The second looks worse but runs better and has much better gameplay. As for Elder.. ever notice how Daggerfall was a piece of shit? If they wanted it to look horrible they could fit much larger games on the consoles as well.
@Kloborgg Okay. You said that Crysis was terrible after 3 levels, about linearity or storyline? Because yes Crysis had many linear levels but Crysis 2 is a lot more. About the gameplay, I prefer by far the first one gameplay because there's originality (no any other game have same gameplay concept) otherwise than the second one which is really similar to call of duty.
@drakenlorde That argument is stupid. Daggerfall used a shitload of procedural content generation while Morrowind sported primarily hand-made content. Same goes with Oblivion, which is why the TES games has gradually become more condensed (smaller game world but with more detail) over the years. And even though a game might have release on various platforms including consoles amongst it's requirement specifications during development, that doesn't the game from having very scalable settings.
Wait so companies make profits off of their systems? This world is crazy! Why WOULDN'T Microsoft and Sony willingly make less money to be "fair" by your standards?
@Kloborgg My problem is that my $450 PC runs crysis at maximum smoothly while the $300 console must turn every good graphics game into a railway game to get smooth. (railway means little game area means a lot less model to render)
"Many missions in Crysis, you can reach the objective by about 3 different ways."
Samething in Crysis 2.. you fucking moron. Not to mention, you still haven't mentioned one more game that isn't "railway". Hey, watch this: CRYSIS IS RAILWAY. CAUSE YOU CANT EXPLORE THE ENTIRE ISLAND. See what I did there? It's like talking to a baby.
@Kloborgg WTH? Not because you can't explore the entire island that it's railway. Crysis 2 is railway because the game area are doing 50 meters square. (a little exagerate) Not railway games: Stalker Xenus Precusors Morrowind Mount And blade Gothic 3 Drakensang Baldur's gate Neverwinter night
Crysis 1 was great for about 3 levels because that's where you could actually explore a vast beautiful island. After that, the game degenerates into killing flying squids on snow levels. What strategy is there in taking on flying squids?
@Kloborgg That's true. My interest into Crysis is resuming for his different gameplay. But I played Crysis 2 and I don't see more strategy in battle than the last crysis levels so I don't see why people have any interest in it.
@Kloborgg I never said a such thing. I said that consoles games have low graphics with medium map or good graphics with tiny map. No any console games have both like Crysis on PC. And that's true. Just start thinking to something credible otherwise than insulting me because you have no arguments.
What you're saying is just wrong. You're an idiot. You think a PC with console equivalent hardware can run games that look anywhere near as good as current console titles? No.
@Kloborgg I know a console is not equivalent to a PC, I compared them because of the price. At source, I've nothing against console. What's made me upset is that a 360 worth less than $80 and it's sold about $300. My own built PC cost me $450 and is capabilities is hundred times over a 360, for $150 of difference. Everything I'm saiding against console is because for $300, it's not normal that you get so low performance.
@Kloborgg I said a $450 PC. That's only $150 difference with a console and I have hundreds time more power. Look, I run crysis at maximum smoothly 30-40 fps. Crysis 2 on console is not as good as crysis graphics plus maps are really small. Which means almost nothing to render and the console runs at 100%.
I am a PC player. My PC is many times more powerful than yours (SLI 560s, i7 2600k, 2000Mhz DDR3). The difference is, I can understand that console games can be great too, and look very impressive for their older hardware. You can't speak English, you only like open-world games, and you're a hypocrite. Fuck off, kid.
@Kloborgg Your PC is better but I still manage to built a $450 pc which runs crysis at max at about 35 fps. And, wow can you understand that consoles are sold 3 times their real cost? Yes, yes, like each of your post, insults me because you have no freaking arguements.
By "You can't speak English", I don't know what you really mean but if it's because of writing mistakes, english is my third language.
I can pull shit out of my ass too. I would LOVE to hear the parts you used for $450 to make Crysis run max at 30-45 FPS. Oh, wait, that's impossible. No, a PC for $450 is not "hundreds of times more powerful" than a console. Seriously, you know absolutely nothing about PC hardware or architecture, you're literally spewing random tidbits of false info as fact.
You think that PoS $40 mobo and DDR2 RAM is going to last you very long? No. And while the 460 is a respectable graphics card, it's far and away from "hundreds times stronger" than the console GPUs. Maybe twice as strong. Maybe. And so you've proven that a barebones system is only $450. What about the case, the OS, the keyboard and mouse?
@Kloborgg I've the mobo, ram, HDD since 2 years. The CPU, PSU since a year and I get the GPU this year. Everything still works well. I use a old case but it got a good airing. I've seven 32bit, I got it free with my HDD. I know I sound to use all the cheapest thing I hate people who said "PC are better but they're really expensive". Not at all.
GTX460 not as good?
GTX460: 1024mb ram DDR5 clock at 3400mhz, handle 2560x1600
360GPU: 10mb ram at 500 mhz,can't handle more than1280x720
You GPU comparison as about as accurate as saying a 3GHz Pentium 4 is more powerful than a 2.7GHz i7.
Yes, if you want to cheap out and get the worst components, you can get a PC that's technically more powerful than a console for similar price. The difference is, it won't be guaranteed to run games for any time at all. People who bought a 360 in 2005 have been assured to run all games on their platform for over half a decade, and will continue to be until 2015.
@Kloborgg The pentium 4 have 3 GHZ but the core i7 have 3 more cores and better architecture. What a 360 gpu have more than a gtx 460?
"People who bought a console in 2005 have been assured to run all games and will continue to be until 2015." Yes, because consoles will still uses outdated technologies. The PC can't run anything because the PC is the first technology. We can't create everything perfect in seconds. Consoles wait years and years to take the best that had the PC five years ago.
You clearly don't know how anything works, so why do you keep going on? A console GPU is not an equivalent to a discrete PCI-E card's GPU. You can't just take two numbers and put them side by side. Not to mention the processor in a console does almost as much work as the GPU. Then again, you're trying to tell me that a GTX 460 is HUNDREDS TIMES more powerful than a 7800.
Why can't they handle modern graphics? Because they're outdated. But they can sure as hell handle graphics better than an equivalent PC from 2005/2006. I would point out that games like Uncharted 2 and Crysis 2 look great, but you'd tell me they're all terrible railway games because you can't allow yourself to see any of the positives. You're a hopeless moron, talking in circles.
Did you just tell me a GTX 460 with a Phenom II dual can run Crysis smoothly on MAX? Maybe on an 800x600 resolution. According to your definition of "railway", every game that isn't Crysis is terrible, am I correct? Or are you willing to give me more than one example? Companies don't create linear games to render less on screen, they do it to enhance storytelling. Not to mention the fact that Bad Company has larger levels than Crysis...
@Kloborgg Yes I'm running crysis at max around 35 FPS in 1280x1024. I just have it in front of myself and you keep telling me it's impossible. May be it's you that know nothing in hardware.
A not railway game to me is a game that you don't have a single way to complete the objective.
Many missions in Crysis, you can reach the objective by about 3 different ways.
May be Bad company have bigger maps than crysis but like all console game, there's less object on the map and really low poly model.
Not even true. The play area of Crysis 2 is almost as large as its predecessor. Half of the games you listed have TERRIBLE graphics (Mount & Blade, really?), and the rest are terrible games anyway. I'd rather play RDR, GTA, Halo, or Mass Effect than Stalker and whatever else you listed. You told me my games didn't count because they were "empty", and you list "Stalker" to back yourself up? This is so ridiculously hypocritical I'm surprised you can take yourself seriously.
@Kloborgg What? You're kiding? Prefering playing such crap as RDR, GTA, HALO than Stalker. You must be 12 years to want playing such games, every real gamers loves Stalker. The games I listed have terrible graphics? Yes, and consoles don't even runs them. Every games I listed are played by mature people and real gamers, not fanboy that are just wanting easy games and no challenges. Stalker empty? Theres a lot more NPCS in Stalker than any console games.
Preferring GTA and RDR makes me 12 years old? Right. Oh, and of course every "real" gamer loves Stalker, because every real gamers likes bad indie games. Yes, they do have terrible graphics, but that's not why consoles don't run them. And of course NPCs are the HARDEST thing to render in graphics. Btw lol @ stalker having more NPCs than GTA.
@Kloborgg "Companies don't create linear games to render less on screen, they do it to enhance storytelling." 90% of the games I know that have good story line are open world games. STALKER Gothic3 Morrowind Xenus Precursors 90% of the games I know that have crap story line are linear games. Call of duty Metro 2033 Aliens vs predator Bulletstorm Resident evil 5
Stalker and gothic have better storylines than Mass Effect and KOTOR? God, you're a moron, kid. Let me guess, you've never played those either. Sounds like your taste is limited to foreign terrible 3rd-party PC exclusives. Oh, but you're right, because if a game isn't open-world it's automatically terrible. Just listen to yourself.
@Kloborgg Well, I just don't like linear games because I feel bored when you have no liberty. I don't said Stalker and Gothic have awsome storyline, I said they're non linear games. I'm just looking for games that gives me challenges, liberty and where you can do major choices so no next gen console games for me.
@Kloborgg You said my tastes in games are limited and you limit yourself to the easiest games in the world, the shortest games, the most linear, and the consoles and the most limited platform if you don't remember. Limited means that people can't go further than usual. And what I'm doing by gaming is trying new experience and challenges which I'll never find on limited console games.
100% of PC gamers will answer that a Mass Effect player is by far more limited than a Stalker player.
If consoles were "3 times their cost", I could build a $100 gaming PC and run Crysis 2 on high settings. Honestly, there are NO corporations out there that sell something based on how much it costs to make. SUPPLY AND DEMAND.. basic economics. They sell it for as high as they can. Surely anyone with a half a brain should know that?
@Kloborgg No, that's why they lowered crysis 2 game area and lowered the graphics.
I have a proof that crysis 2 got a graphics degradation: (on same dx version)
I run crysis at maximum 1280x1024 at about 35 FPS
and I run crysis 2 at maximum 1600x1200 at about 45 FPS.
If it would be the same graphics, never I'd run it as easely.
Prices are fixed by cost on pc Example: Each time a component price lower, intel tell us that the construction cost lowered so they can now sell it at a lower price.
DIalogus, a new fantasy RPG is being developed by DIgital Arrow Studio. It will utilize Unigine and will be cross platform so it will also support Linux.
Quoting Digital Arrow: “We find Unigine perfect. Unigine also supports Linux – which I don’t have to say how important is for us (part of the team are active Linux users). And since there is no high quality RPG out there for Linux, we wish to be one of the first developers that do this."
Google "Dilogus The Winds of War" for the website.
Can I have similar result (full HD & similar fps & same textures/tessellation quality) on GF x470? Or do I need x480 for that? I want to change graphics card but, man, x480 is expensive! Please, advice.
To bad all graphics currently is limited to the damn consoles power. This is why I've always loved PC games. Graphics power is always better except when a console first comes out Its just to bad most developers are going to consoles, which means less development for games exclusively on PC, which means graphics limited to console versions. All games currently could be like crysis or better by now.
@Usul573 Well thats not totally true. The hardware? Ya sure, it can be. But most of the time, sponsors, such as EA, can help with that. They can even have both console level, and bring it up to current standards, but most of the time, its developed on specifically a console, to get perfect frame rates, etc. Then if its on PC, its only ported from that current level. I am glad however that there still are games that are being made like I stated. I just hope developers don't go to just console
Well, making games in general has gotten so expensive, I'm not sure of all the details but we're sort of staying around the same level for that reason. It's a good level though. Whether they can make excellent engines and do more, we'll see.
Yeah, some games like Bioshock 2, Black Ops, and Mass Effect 2 are basically 360 titles ported to PC, they still look really really good though and I find it hard to complain. Other games are not ports at all.
@Usul573 no they can't. they just dont have the hardware. directx 11 uses hardware to tessellate objects. there is no console that supports this, they don't even support directx 10. consoles are just using the equivalent of sub $100 directx 9 video cards. that's why CoD3/4/5/6/7 only support directx 9 graphics API on the PC. Bioshock 1/2 both support directx 10 because they're supported by Microsoft to promote that graphics API of theirs.
@Usul573 Not the same thing. Xbox 360 has a tesselation unit just like the one used on the Radeon HD4000 series. It never caught on. On the other hand, DirectX 11 tesselation uses different tesselation engines on the GPU, as well as new shader variants from the 5.0 shader model (Hull and Domain shaders). It can only be done on GPUs built specifically for DirectX 11/OpenGL 4.
@henryhenriquez Nearly 50 million people can enjoy how awesome Killzone 3 looks, and for 90+% of them it'll be the best looking game they've played at the time. How many people are able to run this benchmark at or above an average of 30fps?
Yes, the PC will always have a higher potential than any console will ever have, but you have to appreciate what the consoles have done for gaming, and not be a pretentious PC elitest
@henryhenriquez perhaps 90% of the roughly 8 million PCs sold last year are more powerful than the roughly 10 million playstation 3's sold last year. But out of the roughly 1 billion PC's in existence, the PS3 is going to be more powerfull than them.
Also, I study computer science, and the PS3 is more powerful than 90% of the computers owned by people who study here. Because students buy cheap computers, and prefer gaming on consoles.
@Irishfreedom Students must realise that with $300 they can get a PC that is far more powerful than PS3. Why buy some crap computer with $150 and then invest another $300 for PS3?
@world5web Totaly true. My 490$ pc is hundreds times more powerfull than a 300$ console. Even not twice the price for a LOT more power. I could have built something even cheaper and the PC would always be a lot more powerfull than a console.
@world5web I agree that PCs are better, but doesn't the PS3 pack a lot of hardware also? didn't it have like 8 cores or something? I might be wrong though :)
@SelaphielDK No, the PS3 has 9 SPE's. Not the same as Cores, besides, CPU isn't the main component when it comes to gaming hardware. The GPU is(yes the CPU is important but it doesn't do any 3D rendering) and the PS3 uses a GPU similar to the nVIDIA 7900gtx which is 5 generations ago. (gtx 7000 series -> gtx 8000 -> gtx9000 -> gtx200 -> gtx 400 -> gtx500)
@world5web How can you build a 300 dollar computer that's better than a ps3. With used parts yeah 50 dollar pentium D, 9600gt, thats already 150 bucks. 50 dollar motherboard, 30 dollar heat sink, 50 dollar hard drive, 20 dollar case, 30 dollar powersupply... do you even build computers? I would enjoy it if you never posted a dumb comment again. thank you. Please feel free to argue.
@psychonaut25 New Egg. You build it, unlike your lazy ass who goes gay for Xbox. The hardest thing about making your own gaming computer is installing the software, because you have to click.
1. More people play on PS3, meaning more people to play online with
2. It's a closed-platform, meainging that developers can get more out of the RSX than out of a GTX 460 or HD 6850.
3. The operating system (Win7) itself costs about $100.
4. System exclusives. There's tons of big-name games you just can't get on PC. Games like Gran Turismo, Infamous, and Final Fantasy. While you might say, "I don't want those games anyway". Someone else does.
@world5web hah a pc better for gaming than a ps3 at $ 300?? good luck with that X))) -pcs definately beat current consoles at gaming by a lot, but if u are looking for decent gaming and a pc, its cheapest to get a console and a cheap pc..
@world5web I agree, a pc is now one of those common place electronics ..its absurd ppl telling that pc gaming costs more ..so what a pc is more than just a gaming system with about 200 USD plus u can get a high end card and play the present tech..Besides its far easier to convince your mother to "upgrade" your pc rather than say I want a console ..only if the idiot at sony finally brighten up and brought back os support ..then i wud hav readily bought it. till then its pc all the way
@world5web not to troll on your parade. But if you can give more info on building a gaming pc for 300...please..do...gtx460 is 150$. i5 2500k is 200$....already past the budget :(
@ATERIFA buy AMD!!! much better for the price, you can get the Athlon II x4 640 (4*3.0Ghz overclockable to 3.5) for 80€, probably about 100$, maybe less and the HD 6850 starts at 120€. You can play anything with that. Plus, the MSI 807A-G54 Motherboard costs 50€ and supports sli/crossfire and overclocking.
for comparison the 6670 is rated at 1249 with G3D, while the equivilent graphic processing unit on a Xbox360 or a PS3 is around 600-700 for it's graphic card equivalent (between 7800 and 7900)

Nassault630 6 months ago
@Nassault630 YOU suck mister very hard, Crysis is spelled CRYSIS,not Crisis.And I can play it, CrYsis 2 is for Xbox 360, and it's not that much different from PC version. And PC players are a different types than console players.I want to play,now, without any questions or install.It's only about what people want. And as you can see they still want games, and most of casual players can piss on DX11 if the game that they are playing is fun. Look at Wii. It's pretty crappy hardware.....
psychonaut25 6 months ago
@Nassault630 .....but the games are what really matters. On PC there is a big hype about DX11, only tech demos everywhere..but where the fuck are the games??? REAL GAMES for DX11...
psychonaut25 6 months ago
@psychonaut25 Battle Field 3 is DX10-11 API and has Tessellation. The games you speak of will be rolling out in larger numbers in the coming year 2012.

But now I have too much gaming experience and god how I miss good gameplay of classic games and games where the sense of immersion is achieved by programmed behaviour first and graphics, sound, physics, whatever only second

Kloborgg 1 year ago
@Kloborgg Just a little thing. Consoles don't have any optimazation for games. It have no problem to run games because of : an outdated resolution, no any AA, no VS, outdated graphics, outdated engine (Call of duty 7 still uses the same engine as Call of duty 2), low textures resolution, really low poly count models.
It still uses the same graphics as in 2004. The only difference today is the overuse of bloom effect.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Not true at all. Textures are much sharper, models have much higher poly counts, and most console games do use AA. Yes, they use a lower resolution, but that doesn't change the fact that graphics are getting better on more limited hardware.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg The consoles are not running better graphics on more limited hardware because each time there's a little graphics upgrade, the only way to make the game playable will be to do a "railway" game. Really little game area with the lowest number of object to give the console a chance to run smoothly.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg Red dead is desertic. GTA 4: 50% of the map is water plus buildings have really low poly count.. The map is ridiculously small and same for oblivion. Fallout 2 and Morrowind have way bigger maps and when it as been put on console, we got way smaller maps. Fable is not big at all and bad company nor. I have an example for you: crysis had big maps for a lot of high detailed models and crysis 2 is just a crap railway game without any freedom. Why do that if the consoles are not as crap?
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg There's a difference between designs games and consoles games that each time it gets "okay" graphics, it turns into a railway game. I'll not judge Half Life because I never played it and don't take me for a kid who judge everything on nothing. I played Crysis 2 and everybody said that's a good game never played the first one. What about stubborn elitist who can't admit consoles are outdated? Do you know how it cost to build a 360? About $250, >> in 2006. Today, less than 80$.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
Following a single way with script actions and no any freedom, what is it if not a railway game?
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
One way? No freedom? There are at LEAST 3 ways to approach any combat scenario. Why not play the game before you bitch about it. Yes, the first Crysis was better, but all things considered the Crysis 2 SP was still very fun and offered more freedom than average.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg I played it and combat are too basic. I played at the last difficulty and combat was always: get invisible, find a cover, kill an ennemy, get invisble, kill another one. It is always the same thing: clean the area and continue on the rail. You can't choose by which way you'll get to the objective, you can't choose if you kill somebody or not, you do it or you don't pass. That's it. It offered more freedom than average but it's not hard to do better than a console game.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. A game running better automatically means that it has better graphics? I guess ARMA 2 is the best looking game ever made! Anyways, I never argued that Crysis 2 looks better than Crysis 1, you're pulling that out of your ass.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg That's what I mean. Every games who get on console will turn into railway or really little game area to give the console a chance to run smoothly
Example: Elder scrolls series. Daggerfall, only on pc, had about a 400 000 square km map then morrowind as been put on console > about 25 square km
And have you looked at the vehicle in crysis 2? The weapons? The trees? They all look in plastic and they're low poly. The particles in the explosion? There's a lot less and the physic is crap
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
...Why do you keep arguing that Crysis 2 looks worse than Crysis 1...
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg Okay. You said that Crysis was terrible after 3 levels, about linearity or storyline? Because yes Crysis had many linear levels but Crysis 2 is a lot more. About the gameplay, I prefer by far the first one gameplay because there's originality (no any other game have same gameplay concept) otherwise than the second one which is really similar to call of duty.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde That argument is stupid. Daggerfall used a shitload of procedural content generation while Morrowind sported primarily hand-made content. Same goes with Oblivion, which is why the TES games has gradually become more condensed (smaller game world but with more detail) over the years. And even though a game might have release on various platforms including consoles amongst it's requirement specifications during development, that doesn't the game from having very scalable settings.

Wait so companies make profits off of their systems? This world is crazy! Why WOULDN'T Microsoft and Sony willingly make less money to be "fair" by your standards?
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg My problem is that my $450 PC runs crysis at maximum smoothly while the $300 console must turn every good graphics game into a railway game to get smooth. (railway means little game area means a lot less model to render)
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Crysis 1 was great for about 3 levels because that's where you could actually explore a vast beautiful island. After that, the game degenerates into killing flying squids on snow levels. What strategy is there in taking on flying squids?
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg That's true. My interest into Crysis is resuming for his different gameplay. But I played Crysis 2 and I don't see more strategy in battle than the last crysis levels so I don't see why people have any interest in it.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Oh so if a game isn't an RPG it's a railway game? Seriously, stop now, you're a fuckin moron.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg I never said a such thing. I said that consoles games have low graphics with medium map or good graphics with tiny map. No any console games have both like Crysis on PC. And that's true. Just start thinking to something credible otherwise than insulting me because you have no arguments.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
What you're saying is just wrong. You're an idiot. You think a PC with console equivalent hardware can run games that look anywhere near as good as current console titles? No.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg I know a console is not equivalent to a PC, I compared them because of the price. At source, I've nothing against console. What's made me upset is that a 360 worth less than $80 and it's sold about $300. My own built PC cost me $450 and is capabilities is hundred times over a 360, for $150 of difference. Everything I'm saiding against console is because for $300, it's not normal that you get so low performance.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
So a $300 PC will get you higher than 360/PS3 performance on modern games? Nope, not even close.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg I said a $450 PC. That's only $150 difference with a console and I have hundreds time more power. Look, I run crysis at maximum smoothly 30-40 fps. Crysis 2 on console is not as good as crysis graphics plus maps are really small. Which means almost nothing to render and the console runs at 100%.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg Your PC is better but I still manage to built a $450 pc which runs crysis at max at about 35 fps. And, wow can you understand that consoles are sold 3 times their real cost? Yes, yes, like each of your post, insults me because you have no freaking arguements.
By "You can't speak English", I don't know what you really mean but if it's because of writing mistakes, english is my third language.
By "you're a hypocrite", I don't understand.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
I can pull shit out of my ass too. I would LOVE to hear the parts you used for $450 to make Crysis run max at 30-45 FPS. Oh, wait, that's impossible. No, a PC for $450 is not "hundreds of times more powerful" than a console. Seriously, you know absolutely nothing about PC hardware or architecture, you're literally spewing random tidbits of false info as fact.

drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
Ridiculous.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg The pentium 4 have 3 GHZ but the core i7 have 3 more cores and better architecture. What a 360 gpu have more than a gtx 460?
"People who bought a console in 2005 have been assured to run all games and will continue to be until 2015." Yes, because consoles will still uses outdated technologies. The PC can't run anything because the PC is the first technology. We can't create everything perfect in seconds. Consoles wait years and years to take the best that had the PC five years ago.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde

@Kloborgg I don't know how anything works so why the consoles can't handle good graphics game? Or at least, modern graphics.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg "handle graphics better than an equivalent PC from 2005/2006. " Stop living in 2005. Yes it was, today, not at all.
In 2011, it cost less than $80 to build a 360 and it's sold about $300. That's my problem.
"Crysis 2 look great, but you'd tell me they're all terrible railway games because you can't allow yourself to see any of the positives"
Wait, you've found good side to crysis 2? Why don't you write them?
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg Yes I'm running crysis at max around 35 FPS in 1280x1024. I just have it in front of myself and you keep telling me it's impossible. May be it's you that know nothing in hardware.
A not railway game to me is a game that you don't have a single way to complete the objective.
Many missions in Crysis, you can reach the objective by about 3 different ways.
May be Bad company have bigger maps than crysis but like all console game, there's less object on the map and really low poly model.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg What? You're kiding? Prefering playing such crap as RDR, GTA, HALO than Stalker. You must be 12 years to want playing such games, every real gamers loves Stalker. The games I listed have terrible graphics? Yes, and consoles don't even runs them. Every games I listed are played by mature people and real gamers, not fanboy that are just wanting easy games and no challenges. Stalker empty? Theres a lot more NPCS in Stalker than any console games.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Preferring GTA and RDR makes me 12 years old? Right. Oh, and of course every "real" gamer loves Stalker, because every real gamers likes bad indie games. Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg Well, I just don't like linear games because I feel bored when you have no liberty. I don't said Stalker and Gothic have awsome storyline, I said they're non linear games. I'm just looking for games that gives me challenges, liberty and where you can do major choices so no next gen console games for me.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
That's fine, I don't give a shit how limited your tastes in games are.
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg You said my tastes in games are limited and you limit yourself to the easiest games in the world, the shortest games, the most linear, and the consoles and the most limited platform if you don't remember. Limited means that people can't go further than usual. And what I'm doing by gaming is trying new experience and challenges which I'll never find on limited console games.
100% of PC gamers will answer that a Mass Effect player is by far more limited than a Stalker player.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@drakenlorde
Kloborgg 10 months ago
@Kloborgg No, that's why they lowered crysis 2 game area and lowered the graphics.
I have a proof that crysis 2 got a graphics degradation: (on same dx version)
I run crysis at maximum 1280x1024 at about 35 FPS
and I run crysis 2 at maximum 1600x1200 at about 45 FPS.
If it would be the same graphics, never I'd run it as easely.
Prices are fixed by cost on pc Example: Each time a component price lower, intel tell us that the construction cost lowered so they can now sell it at a lower price.

cgofme 1 year ago
To bad all graphics currently is limited to the damn consoles power. This is why I've always loved PC games. Graphics power is always better except when a console first comes out Its just to bad most developers are going to consoles, which means less development for games exclusively on PC, which means graphics limited to console versions. All games currently could be like crysis or better by now.
gothicman02 1 year ago 16
@gothicman02
All the technology for games is just too darn expensive, that's part of why making games on consoles is so popular, to sell a lot of the game.
Don't blame the consoles.
They can have a game have DX11 on consoles and PC.
Usul573 1 year ago
@Usul573 Well thats not totally true. The hardware? Ya sure, it can be. But most of the time, sponsors, such as EA, can help with that. They can even have both console level, and bring it up to current standards, but most of the time, its developed on specifically a console, to get perfect frame rates, etc. Then if its on PC, its only ported from that current level. I am glad however that there still are games that are being made like I stated. I just hope developers don't go to just console
gothicman02 1 year ago
@gothicman02
Usul573 1 year ago
@Usul573
The worst thing though is when the PC version is not even made or heavily delayed.
RDR, Alan Wake, Fable 2, Fable 3.
And why was Gears 1 put on PC but Gears 2 and Gears 3 probably not.
Usul573 1 year ago
@Usul573 no they can't. they just dont have the hardware. directx 11 uses hardware to tessellate objects. there is no console that supports this, they don't even support directx 10. consoles are just using the equivalent of sub $100 directx 9 video cards. that's why CoD3/4/5/6/7 only support directx 9 graphics API on the PC. Bioshock 1/2 both support directx 10 because they're supported by Microsoft to promote that graphics API of theirs.

A game can have DX11, and the game can be on PC and consoles is what I meant.
The 360 does have some surface tessellation but I don't even know if it's been used at all.
Usul573 1 year ago
@Usul573 Not the same thing. Xbox 360 has a tesselation unit just like the one used on the Radeon HD4000 series. It never caught on. On the other hand, DirectX 11 tesselation uses different tesselation engines on the GPU, as well as new shader variants from the 5.0 shader model (Hull and Domain shaders). It can only be done on GPUs built specifically for DirectX 11/OpenGL 4.
NewLynxChannel 1 year ago
@Usul573 nope the 360 is only win2k custom and direct x 8 so its got no chance in hell of running this
jeenormus 1 year ago
@jeenormus
It has a superset of Directx 9.0c with Shader model 3.0+, with some advanced features like surface tessellation.
Still not sure if games have used it though.

Killzone 2 graphic destroy crysis graphics. Killzone 3 destroys crysis 2. Its just facts.
Turkish2023 1 year ago
@Turkish2023 crysis 1 destroys both killzone2 and killzone 3..
simple fact. a ps3 game cant beat a pc exclusive. like crysis.
ps3 isnt powerfull enough,
henryhenriquez 1 year ago
@henryhenriquez Nearly 50 million people can enjoy how awesome Killzone 3 looks, and for 90+% of them it'll be the best looking game they've played at the time. How many people are able to run this benchmark at or above an average of 30fps?
Yes, the PC will always have a higher potential than any console will ever have, but you have to appreciate what the consoles have done for gaming, and not be a pretentious PC elitest
Irishfreedom 1 year ago
@Irishfreedom you know that. 90% of pc are more powerfull then a ps3 right??
like crysis 1 looks better then killlzone 3. becuase of the hardware limits of the ps3
henryhenriquez 1 year ago
@henryhenriquez perhaps 90% of the roughly 8 million PCs sold last year are more powerful than the roughly 10 million playstation 3's sold last year. But out of the roughly 1 billion PC's in existence, the PS3 is going to be more powerfull than them.
Also, I study computer science, and the PS3 is more powerful than 90% of the computers owned by people who study here. Because students buy cheap computers, and prefer gaming on consoles.
Irishfreedom 1 year ago
@Irishfreedom a 8800 is more powerfull then a whole pc. and according to steam that is the most used card out there.
you seriously expect soemthing made 6 years ago to be powerfull today? a dual core, 2gb of ram and 8800 willl rape the ps3.
ps3 only does 579gflops thats not mutch.
even at release there were pc more power then a ps3
henryhenriquez 1 year ago
@Irishfreedom Students must realise that with $300 they can get a PC that is far more powerful than PS3. Why buy some crap computer with $150 and then invest another $300 for PS3?

@world5web You're so dumb. 300 bucks for a PC? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
GordonFreeMANness 11 months ago
@world5web Totaly true. My 490$ pc is hundreds times more powerfull than a 300$ console. Even not twice the price for a LOT more power. I could have built something even cheaper and the PC would always be a lot more powerfull than a console.
drakenlorde 10 months ago
@world5web I agree that PCs are better, but doesn't the PS3 pack a lot of hardware also? didn't it have like 8 cores or something? I might be wrong though :)
SelaphielDK 10 months ago
@SelaphielDK No, the PS3 has 9 SPE's. Not the same as Cores, besides, CPU isn't the main component when it comes to gaming hardware. The GPU is(yes the CPU is important but it doesn't do any 3D rendering) and the PS3 uses a GPU similar to the nVIDIA 7900gtx which is 5 generations ago. (gtx 7000 series -> gtx 8000 -> gtx9000 -> gtx200 -> gtx 400 -> gtx500)
myuzakitheglitcher 10 months ago
@world5web How can you build a 300 dollar computer that's better than a ps3. With used parts yeah 50 dollar pentium D, 9600gt, thats already 150 bucks. 50 dollar motherboard, 30 dollar heat sink, 50 dollar hard drive, 20 dollar case, 30 dollar powersupply... do you even build computers? I would enjoy it if you never posted a dumb comment again. thank you. Please feel free to argue.

psychonaut25 6 months ago
@psychonaut25 New Egg. You build it, unlike your lazy ass who goes gay for Xbox. The hardest thing about making your own gaming computer is installing the software, because you have to click.
Nassault630 6 months ago
@world5web
This is from a PC gamer
goldenmage 6 months ago
@world5web hah a pc better for gaming than a ps3 at $ 300?? good luck with that X))) -pcs definately beat current consoles at gaming by a lot, but if u are looking for decent gaming and a pc, its cheapest to get a console and a cheap pc..
DeathForSk8 6 months ago
@world5web I agree, a pc is now one of those common place electronics ..its absurd ppl telling that pc gaming costs more ..so what a pc is more than just a gaming system with about 200 USD plus u can get a high end card and play the present tech..Besides its far easier to convince your mother to "upgrade" your pc rather than say I want a console ..only if the idiot at sony finally brighten up and brought back os support ..then i wud hav readily bought it. till then its pc all the way
paulthecoolest 6 months ago
@world5web not to troll on your parade. But if you can give more info on building a gaming pc for 300...please..do...gtx460 is 150$. i5 2500k is 200$....already past the budget :(
ATERIFA 6 months ago
@ATERIFA buy AMD!!! much better for the price, you can get the Athlon II x4 640 (4*3.0Ghz overclockable to 3.5) for 80€, probably about 100$, maybe less and the HD 6850 starts at 120€. You can play anything with that. Plus, the MSI 807A-G54 Motherboard costs 50€ and supports sli/crossfire and overclocking.
JETBLAST88 5 months ago
@ATERIFA not exactly 300$, but....
500GB HDD - 90$
4GB DDR3 - 24
case - 40$
350W+ PSU - 40$
5670 - 70$ / 6670 - 80$
AMD Athlon II X2 250 -62$
asrock m3a770de - 60$
for comparison the 6670 is rated at 1249 with G3D, while the equivilent graphic processing unit on a Xbox360 or a PS3 is around 600-700 for it's graphic card equivalent (between 7800 and 7900)
