What is confusing? Some Jewish ppl are German, some are English, some Canadian some Israeli etc etc.
Or are you confused about Yiddish vs German (languages). They are similar but YIddish is much older than Hochdeutch (modern German) and Yiddish is a High German dialect so it will differ. Closer to Swiss, Austrian and Bavarian.
As for Jewish Germans; yes, they have lived in Europe since 600 BC. The Rhineland was where Yiddish began. Like I said b4 Yiddish is based on Medieval High German.
Funny u ask about Jews drinking beer or being police; try going to Israel and see 4 urself. In fact I have a Jewish neighbour who is a cop and loves to drink at our local pub.
Twisted. U should seek help. I love how u try to stereotype Jews.

This sounds like a bunch of polish people speaking a kind of german that is a few hundert years old and the video get freakier each time you watch it ... "Polizei wird kummen bald!!!" lol
@G33KN3rd Yiddish is indeed similar to German (and other Germanic languages like Dutch), but it also has influences from Hebrew/Russian/Polish/English So it's not the same as German, but its similar.
The alphabet is not used only for Hebrew, but also for Yiddish and Aramaic, just as the Roman/cyrillic alphabets are used for multiple languages. So I wouldn't call it the "hebrew letters", necessarily, but rather a general alphabet that is used for multiple languages, one of which is Hebrew.
@G33KN3rd Really? That's cool! I didn't know anyone spoke Aramaic today. My only experience with Aramaic is from studying the Talmud. It's very similar to Hebrew.
@pianojerome slight problem though, the Aramaic I speak is heavily infused with Akkadian vocabulary, so it's barely related to Hebrew, the Aramaic I speak is called Assyrian Aramaic.
@pianojerome it's not that it's changed, it's just before Assyrians spoke Aramaic, we spoke Akkadian, so when the Assyrian empire decided to switch the national language to Aramaic, most people living in Assyria decided to mix Akkadian and Aramaic words together to be more comfortable with Aramaic since Assyrians were mostly used to Akkadian, that way they could speak Aramaic and still understand each other.
This kosher spider man which I like very much is quite homophobic... I don't think it should be for kids... but I like it anyway I wonder do they really think that gays are wild beasts who deserves to be shot in a head... this part I don't like

LOL, that is not an afro. Spidey is sporting a shtriemel (a fur hat worn by hassidic Jews). First worn by European Jews probably in the 1700s. I maya be wrong on the date but it was a looooong time ago.
I think that type of hat was from Poland originally but close enough I guess ;) It's still worn by many hassidic Jews (Ultra Orthodox), mostly on special occasions; not every day.
The hat is called a spodik but is confused with the shtreimel. It is worn everyday by charedi(ultra orthadox) rebbes but the hat is worn by most on shabbos
@HelloShitty08 @ all the stupid people: It isn't a wig not afro style or something else... It is just a Strejmel. An occassins hat or cap, made or trimed with fur. :-S
You have to prepend װילדע חיה to make the line complete ( װילדע חיה ואו זײַן עצה איז אַ שאָס ) otherwise it wouln't fit the pattern of the song. It means then: [The letter] Vav is a wild animal, its advice is a bullet [in the head].
Ah, I get it. Thank you so much for replying! I have two more questions if you have time: does דאָס mean like "frummie" in the dalet line? And is חולירות like an insult?
(cont.) Yiddish-speaking people in Ukraine told me that Yiddish will only survive with the orthodox Jews spread all over the world. I love Yiddish very much but sadly I regard it as a "lost" language because it is cut off its origin in Eastern Europe. Even in Israel (where it could have become first language) very few people know it and the last Yiddish newspaper closed down.
I agree with Lagolop's comment, but even though the origins of Yiddish can be found in Medieval Germany as today's language it is a result of the Jewish settlement of Eastern Europe (Poland, Ukraine. Lithuania, Russia, Romania). Because of the World War II it is hardly spoken in these "original" countries and most of the survivors (or their children) have lost it. I have found in a Ukrainian city (pre-WW II Jewish population: 35'000) a handful Yiddish-speaker.
Yiddish is spoken by Ashkenazi Jews where ever they may live (if they know it). Yiddish is essentially a Medieval Germanic language spoken by Jews initially in Northern France and Germany. Today it is most similar to Swiss or Austrian German. Yiddish also contains some Slavic terms, and even uses some Hebrew as well. It's a great language full of interesting phrases. I wish I could speak it (I'm trying to learn it).
Also halte die Füße still und: first think, then write!
verse 2/3 Tet iz tales, jud yarmulke, kof iz kosher, lamed laks. Mem a meydl, nun Navakho, ken zayn az du bist a trans! Samekh spayder, ayin ash, pey iz pretsl un oykh farfl. Tsadi tsores on a schir, kuf iz krekhts un resh iz rebe, er hot undz geheysn varfn shteyner, vindlen un oykh eyer. (chorus)
I enjoy this song so much since I discovered it two days ago! Since several commenter wished the lyrics: I wrote them down in original yiddish and in YIVO transscription (suggestions for corrections are welcome).

Also halte die Füße still und: first think, then write!

@madjack617 a groysen dank! I can read Yiddish (in oyshes) and understand it to a degree, but this was out of my league. Kudos to you.

I enjoy this song so much since I discovered it two days ago! Since several commenter wished the lyrics: I wrote them down in original yiddish and in YIVO transscription (suggestions for corrections are welcome).

A drunk Scottish guy, a hassidic Spiderman, a policeman in a bathrobe, and a furry. Pretty ordinary group of people, innit?
