The point of this is that the all-powerful Joshua (the computer) was a top secret mainframe the US Air Force would depend on in the event of a nuclear attack by The Soviets. While the computer is busy feeding game data of inbound Soviet missiles, Joshua tries to guess the encrypted launch code that launches the US missiles and win. The hero of the story plays Tic-Tac-Toe against Joshua, which ultimately learns the concept of futility: there is no winner. Better to play a nice game of Chess.

This is really well done. The music is very, very fitting, but it also reminds me of Star Control 2, an early nineties game.
