Keeping them as slaves guaranteed them food, shelter, and, in the case of most of the founding fathers, good treatment. Releasing them would have meant risking their starvation or death by other means because of the bigotry of others.

The main reason it was written into the Constitution was that they did not want to lose the Southern states, who were essential to winning the war. The racism of the time, and the lack of distinction and education in most slaves, would have meant that the former slaves would have no shelter and no food once freed. Keeping them as slaves guaranteed them food, shelter, and, in the case of most of the founding fathers, good treatment. Releasing them would have meant risking their starvation or death by other means because of the bigotry of others.

@laloali2 "as if Obama is robbing people" Obama said "We need higher taxes in order to spread the wealth." Translation: "I want to rob the rich to feed the poor." We already pay way more than just a nickel, Obama wants the wealthy to pay 95% of their income to the government, he said so. With only 5 percent left how are they going to afford to stay in business let alone pay their employees? I'm not saying people should not pay taxes. I'm saying the taxes should be far.

@BondFreek the money ur company earns is not part of the money u earn. ur corporation is taxed, and the money it pays to employees, including you, is th emoney it made. the ceo, gets his paycheck from the money he receives from the company. by taxing the rich man 95%. wats really happening is the company is doing fine. but th eowner isn't gonna settle for total take home pay to be equal to that of his workers.

He/she worked hard to get to the top of the totem pole. The money people earned from the company IS part of the money the company earns from its product. Price of products goes up when taxes goes up because Companies are trying to pay their employees! I’m a certified accountant! I know economics! Apparently all you know is R&B-rap

@laloali2 If john doe pays $1 out of $100 in taxes it's only fair that Trump pays $100,000 out of $1,000,000 But Trump pays $750,000 out of $1,000,000, while john doe still only pays $1 now is that far? NO of course not. Also contrary to popular belief Trump and other rich men reinvest 80% of their profits after taxes back into their company. Do you know how many people he could hire with an extra $650,000 dollars? When you help business owners you help people get jobs. More jobs=more taxes.

Contrary to popular belief the real reason America was the leader in Healthcare is because of competition. People here are always looking for the least expensive Doctor who out performs the more expensive Doctors. The result was Cures for diseases, small town feeling Doctors in big cities and a health care system that got people from other countries coming to America for treatments. Today most country's who have Government ruined health care are treated worst than their Animals (like Canada).

"since when are military strategies decided by political parties..."? Since Vietnam. It was a political nightmare. The Generals and Admirals who were on the front lines wanted to fight the war their way, and the congress kept saying "NO do it our way!" When Lyndon B. Johnson (Dem) took over after Kennedy's death, he decided that because he was commander and chef of the military he should be the one running the war not the Generals. This of course made matters worse.
