and tell your son not to listen to the tips and tricks people are saying on here (though good and bad) he needs to develop his own sense of doing things and when he has found "his-self" as an artist then he will be ready for instruction but he needs to go over the bumps and hurtles
Nice, tell him to wear a fingerless glove on his drawing hand, it stops your hand from fading the picture when you rest on it, saves you some time cos you dont have to go back over it. And more detail, like scratches and nicks on the can would be great.
He has a natural talent for shading, so much so that his art almost looks 3d. I would really like to see something with a little more detail next time
I'd suggest trying to make darker blacks. Some people prefer the darkest charcoal they can find, kind of hard to work with. I use inks or the black PrismaColor pencils. Getting a true black is important for making things look good at a distance, with graphite and most pencil drawings, the downfall is you have to be close to make out details. Also get a good eraser or a white pencil and put brighter highlights in there it'll make it look more metallic. Hope this helped.
, I don't know about artist. He is much better at shading than I am. I don't draw stuf like this. I draw landscapes, and paint them, sometime I draw long guns. As a second hobby, to keep me busy, on my off days, to keep from burning through to much ammo. He is awsome, to be 17, he should totaly go to art school.
Nice pick of a song. I love Nine Inch Nails.

Man you'd have to be a real douche to dislike this. The guy's doing something unique and artistic for crying out loud.

@ethan3391 yeah, seriously. It's almost theraputic too see a drawing take shape, even though I can hardly draw stick figures.

my only critique is to be a little less indirect with the rendering.
the structure is good, the point is clear, and its a decent character.
next upload should be a piece to show his real style
conciousness88 6 months ago 2
@conciousness88 I'll pass that along thanks. My personal artistic skill is limited at best. I do draw mean stock figure.
