  • THIS always makes my day!

  • kaiser permanente nurse..lol but you forgot one thing rex..theres no kaiser in Nevada..its only in california. i live in Vegas.

  • rex navarrete's jokes will never get old.....haha

  • When an English speaker who has never spoken Tagalog before tries to say the word "tabo", wouldn't it sound funny because it sounds differently?

Maybe it's just me, but it sounds pretty hilarious (I've had non-Filipino friends say it).

I'm not making fun of anybody, but I'm just trying to explain a perspective from a different angle.

Anyway, my whole point to this is, words that belong in a certain language sound comical when spoken in an accent unfamiliar to that language itself.

  • In terms of the spoken language, pronouncing the words correctly is a must in order for the recipient (listener) to understand the message.

Ever wonder why other languages's alphabets, or more specifically the vowels, are pronounced differently? Spanish vs. English?

If someone pronounced the Tagalog word "tabo" the way English vowels are pronounced, would a native Tagalog speaker recognize the word?

  • This wasn't that funny, SBC Packers is still my fave LOL.

Audience here seem hostile about this kind of humor though, which I understand. I've been through that kind of treatment when I first moved here (U.S.). It was hurtful, yes, but later I realized that I can actually relate to why they would laugh whenever I pronounce words incorrectly. The way I see it, language isn't just based on word choice and grammar (written language), it's also pronunciation (spoken language).

  • well pak-yao to bitch lol XD

  • I don't think Manny Pacquiao's English is Freestyle, it's Visayan Accent (Not Illonggo though, they speak different English from most Visayans).

  • i love you rex navarette!!! LMAO

  • that's true the filipinos have a lot of spanish influence. but not all can speak spanish

  • at the end did george lopez say good shit bro? listen carefully

  • @MrSensAsian22 heard that too but it could be also from the crowd audience

  • @nenabunena i'd say having a translator do the job for him is better than leaving the world hanging with a vague statement. anyone who speaks 2 languages is smart? not in my book. wel that may be true but that depends on how well one speaks the 2 languages. intelligence can't be measured on that factor alone. some folks wer brought up with 2 languages, does that makem smart? on another note, you say i'm weak and all that stuff. i think judging people you don't know makes you look dumb sweety :-)

  • @nenabunena nver calld any1 fob. yer puttin' words in my mouth again. i do agree though that da best way 2 learn a language is 2 speak it with yer frends, in a social setting that is. but using it 2 comunicate 2 a global audience wen yer not redy is a diferent story. that's like throwin an egg on yer face. now im not trying 2 put manny down, i just think he nids 2 save his and our faces from ridicule since he represents filipinos.

  • LMAO..that was hilarious!!!

  • @nenabuena

    I have a peeling you're prom Cebu ?

    Bisdak?

    In any case about dialects...

Well there are many Americans who know their "root" language.

No matter how smart the person is either.

The trick is that you have to immerse yourself in the culture of the language.

Since we are not kids then it tends to get difficult.

    Ayo ayo.

  • @RyeBai Nope, I'm from Manila actually. Tagalog to be exact. & my Filipino is better than my Tagalog. But I believe that this resentment over Tagalogs needs to be addressed properly & we need to be respectful of other ethnic groups who know at least 3-4 languages. That is something to be admired noh?

  • also, there's a misconception that the languages of the phils are dialects. a dialect is american english, vs british english vs australian english = all mutually intelligible to each other, therefore 1 language w/ various dialects. bisaya is a language, as is tagalog, ilokano, kapampangan, etc. we have 170 languages in the philippines. they are not mutually intelligible to each other, therefore they are languages. a dialect would be the tagalog spoken in manila compared to batangueno tagalog.

  • the joke goes well for americans but it's a bit off bec pacquiao is a typical filipino name in the phils. no one would've made fun of him. i had a classmate with a filipino name, but her surname was 'sugatan' & she had a lot of peklat on her legs! yeck! now that would've been made fun of, but not pacquiao. anyway, regardless, love rex!

  • I always thought that there was some sort of tension between Filipinos and Mexicans, particularly in boxing. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. But I think it's great how the audience (I'm assuming most of which are Mexican/ other Latinos??) was really cool with Rex up there...

  • u da man REX!!! bring it bak old skool n educate the young filipinos in tru pinoy comedy fashion!! lolol

  • @nenabunena there's a proper place and time to speak and learn a language. mind you, i didn't say he was dumb trying to learn a new language. i said he makes himself look dumb trying to speak it even when he's not ready to. don't try to change what i meant and make me look like the bad guy

  • @imflyyall a proper place & time? the best way to learn a language is to speak it with others. any1 who can speak more than 2 languages is smart. manny is fluent in 2-3 filipino languages & is learning english. americans only know 1 language. who's dumber? he doesn't look dumb. maybe people like u are the ones who make other filipinos feel dumb by berating & degrading them publicly calling them fobs. i think ur weak by succumbing to peer pressure & colonialism, it makes u look dumb.

  • if paquiao didn't try so hard to speak english just to fit in and spoke in his own native language instead, he wouldn't look dumb. the manny paquiao navarette showed was way much better than the real one.

  • @imflyyall what? he looks dumb learning another language? y is that unnatural? do you speak just 1 language? who are you to dictate someone is dumb trying to speak & learn another language?

  • ha ha ha ha your the man Rex he hehe

  • Just watch and try to enjoy the video. I'm Filipino and this was funny as hell.

  • This just made my day. Lol

  • its comedy deal with it!

  • pretty funny the mp jokes. "i'm going to get stronger, and i'mma find you i will find you." loz

  • @NamesROverated your just jealous cuz your not mexican

  • not funny

  • ill get stronger and ill fight you! hahaha this guy is dead set hilarious!!

  • I'm TEAM Mayweather, but this was funny because all the time I kept thinking to myself..."This mofo looks exactly like the LION from the Wizard of Oz!" LOL hahahaha

  • Salamat talaga kay PACMAN, lahat sila pinag kakakitaan.

  • Sweet Bejesus people, I'm a Pinoy. Stop fighting about it please? Unless any of you have lived here, you can't speak for anyone,

  • The Philippines at on time had the 6th best education rank throughout the world. The teaching of English (hardest to learn) has changed the economy with oversea's workers, Call centers, and Foreign Investments. Erap (Shamed Ex pres.) changed speaking the way English in the Philippines. I hate to say it, but you can tell the educated ones or happy go lucky Filipinos in seconds. My Cousins can speak english when calling for money for load for cell phones. 10 years same Life same place. SHAME

  • George when pacquiao gonna be in your show?LOL

  • The fact is people who can speak good english doesn't know how to construct or write good grammar. So some Filipinos have the hard time in speaking fluent english but they can write a very good english grammar. That's their advantage.

  • pacquiao is not tagalog...Pacquiao is visaya

  • Filipinos also make fun of Fil-Ams who try to speak Tagalog. But the fun is not meant to offend. The ire is reserved for Fil-Ams who don't even try to speak the language even in the Philippines. If the US has a condescending term like FOB, then the Philippines, has "Amerikanong Hilaw" or worse "Amerikanong Pango."

  • Wow. Someone is really offended about this? Clueless. Fil-ams..yeah it's true we make fun of our accents. But it's with love. We make fun of the way our parents pronounce words, we make fun of our own culture. Again it's with love. Because we embrace who we are. Yeah I'm born here, but when I eat with a fork and spoon my other Fil-Am friends laugh..they're not making fun of me..they're laughing about how even though we're born and raised here somethings still get passed on.

  • Mr: George Lopez I'd love to see Manny pacquiao on your show ha ha ha

  • @1natgeo well you must not be filipino or you just have no sense of humor because if anything, most filipinos can actually relate to his comedy, however racist they are his jokes are pretty much true. Have you seriously heard the jokes lopez does? If you think about it, they're almost similar so it's not uncommon to see them on the same show. and really, if you can't find this funny, then change the channel and go watch your dave chapel or whatever it is you watch.

  • Hew flew at the San Francisco's Cobbs Comedy Club after this taping and he was off the hook. This was just a small part of a hella... I say hella... funny routine. The other stand-ups were funny ass hell too, but he was the headliner. My gut and jaw were aching after the show.

  • Thanks for keeping it real Rex...it's only normal for people to get butt hurt over the truth..just remember comedy is about laughing along with you.. Not at you.. Relax people.. It's okay..

  • Wtf lol

  • It wasn't that good. He could have done a better stand up.

  • rex navarette and george lopez should do a comedy special together

  • Good act, just need to clean it up a bit. Funny stuff!

  • @5280CB no, man, by stand-up standards, that was very clean!!!

  • Somewhat funny :P

7 people didn't turn off their TV during the post fight interview

  • @1natgeo i understand where you're coming from but you gotta understand that the audience isn't filipino and so his real jokes won't be as funny unless the audience can relate and understand so yeah o.O

  • @ohsnapsitzcarel agree with you on that

  • gago

  • @1natgeo wait..first of all if you will insult people.. make sure you spell them correctly.. it's FILIPINO NOT with the PH!!!! just coz our country starts with PH doesn't mean you spell what you call us the same! and hes is FILIPINO. yea he's not as funny on this one gotta agree with you on that one! :)

  • Proud to be Pinoy!! ^_^

  • hahahaha he's soo funny

  • he's lucky he's still alive after the show. the man is braging about Paquiao. Pacquiao beat lots of mexican boxer. He got lucky mexicans in the audience didn't beat him.

  • @avatar3554 Well, why do you think he opened with the "Malaysian Mexicano" bit? Also, a lot of Mexican boxers have beaten fellow Mexican boxers, if you get my drift. It's a bit of a double whammy there.

  • @avatar3554 what are you talking about...Mexicans love Manny...sure they always pull for the Mexican boxers, of course they do, I wouldn't expect any less..But Mexicans that love boxing love Manny because he fights like a Mexican fighter, and they appreciate his ring skills. To top that off he's a class act. He never talk a bunch of crap, when he put Margarito in the hospital he was there to visit him. He's just good for boxing in general.

  • @avatar3554 It's all good, We're Latino too :3

  • really funny dude!

  • at least Manny speaks english not like others that need translators

  • @jakoolaction Bernard Hopkins speaks English and I can't understand wtf he says sometimes

  • Rex, sir, you did it again.

  • Pinoy power, pinoy power guys

  • Q: What Is Your Last Name?

    A: PakYaw - PakYaw Too Bitch! :D

  • His other stuff is much funnier.

  • i think he is a huge fan of MANNYS,, he even said he had bragging rights to ''SHOW OFF ''MANNY to his friends,, i do not hitnk he meant any harm, and i think MANNY would giggle too,,,

  • That was hilarious. Wow, people, they're jokes. If you're offended, then you're wound too tightly. As an African-American married to a filipina (11 years), I've heard plenty of black comedians making fun of black boxers' english (i.e. Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Leon Spinks). Rex is not making fun of Filipinos. He's joking about how Manny speaks. Manny is laughing all the way to the bank so just enjoy the jokes. I love watching Manny fight but his post fight interviews ARE hiliarious.

  • @usacyrano Maybe I just couldn't relate that much to his jokes since he is a Fil-Am and I am a Fil. Maybe if it's a native Fil like me it wouldn't be much offensive. Anyway, let's all end this argument now. My comments aren't meant to offend anyone either. BTW, congratulations to you and your wife.

  • @dirtlifter007 No offense taken. Peace.

  • @usacyrano

That last line waiting for a Filipina nurse at Kaiser for translation was hilarious. ROTFL.

  • PINOY FOREVER

  • 5 dislikes??!!!5 people without sense of humor. don't take life too seriously. and Pacquiao doesn't care if you asswipes stand up for him!. Good job Rex!

  • attention: onion skinned newly migrated pinoys. if you're easily offended by this. then you're in for a rude awakening. toughen up a bit. you're in the dog eat dog country now.!

  • @skorpyonayts1169 lol "dog eat dog" that could easily be turned into a filipino joke there too xD

  • Haha fawkin hilarious..

  • I'm sure Manny would laugh if he sees this. You guys with the short chords, LOOSEN UP, LIFE IS TOO SHORT!!!!!

  • I've been watching Rex before he got big and if you've seen a lot of his stand up...it would be less offensive. It's the same thing as when blacks comedians joke about black people...indian comedians making fun of indian people...its all the same all comedians do this

  • Guys! cmon its joke... just laught it up and enjoy your day, whatever they say Manny is still he champ!

  • Manny, stop pressing the dislike button

  • My question to Rex is this: If you are ashamed of the way Pacquiao talks, does that also mean that you are ashamed of your fellow Filipinos who just immigrated to the US?

  • @dirtlifter007: REX IS A STAND-UP COMIC!!!AND ITS A FREAKIN' JOKE!!!

  • 3 mexicans disliked this video

  • @itzthatsway False. I am a Filipino and I dislike this video. It is very offending to me and to native-born and newly immigrated Filipinos

  • @dirtlifter007 good for you

  • @dirtlifter007 wow ur so easily offended

  • Many considered Pacman as the greatest boxer to date and the pride of the Philippines. Manny is a fighter and not linguist! yes, you speak impeccable English but that's bec. you grew up here U.S. but can you speak bisaya or even tagalog? you damn ass.

don't piggy back on Manny's popularity by making fun of his English..you are not funny at all!

  • @ronvalence I DOUBT IF REX MEANT ANY HARM TOWARDS MP. I EVEN THINK MP DOESN'T CARE. IT'S JUST YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE MAKING A BIG DEAL ABOUT REX'S ACT. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING ACTUALLY. AND NO THANKS, NO BISAYA FOR ME.

  • @ronvalence it's funny cuz rex navarette speaks perfect tagalog and has been a famous comedian for years alot of people just show their ignorance here your all too sensitive making fun of an accent is in every culture fact alot of filipinos make fun of manny's accent even the filipinos who are in the philippines so everyone please shut the fuck up

  • @ronvalence yes he can in fact talk perfect tagalog. If you haven't noticed this is exactly how ALL comedians work. White people make jokes about whites, blacks toward black etc. it's no different. and he's not just making fun of manny for how he speaks, but towards the entire culture. Deep down inside, and you know it's true, most filipinos do speak that way with the distinctive accent. So if you're seriously offended, well you must be fresh off the boat ;)

  • @NamesROverated Lol! Another Fil-Am calling the real Filipinos fobs. I suggest you watched this video entitled FILIPINO PRIDE???? (PART 1) . This video speaks the truth about the attitude of Filipinos in America towards other Filipinos.

  • @NamesROverated i agree with your post but your last derogatory comment calling him a fob is out of line. u filams have no pride in yourself & your people, you belittle them calling them names like fobs? u should check out maharlika's video on this issue. he's an american who notices filams denigrating millions of filipinos by calling them fobs from the motherland. most filipinos speak 3-4 languages, how many languages can filams speak? most dont even know what they are. bastos

  • @nenabunena oh come on, fob is hardly an insult. Well, I guess this just further proves that you guys can hardly take a joke. And besides, my post is somewhat true, natives or "fobs", generally can't take a joke cause it normally doesnt translate or the humor doesn't tranlate either.

  • @NamesROverated It is an insult, its meant as a malicious insult. If u hang out with well-bred people who come from good upstanding families, ul notice they would not use the term FOB. Only the poorly bred & more disrespectful ones would ever use that term as a form of denigration. They can't take a malicious joke targeting them? Sure, it doesn't take much logic 2 infer that. I wonder if u were ill-treated how well u would take it? IMO ur a kano, a true filipino would understand

  • @NamesROverated uhmmm... most Filipinos (Immigrants) in United States. Filipinos in Philippines? Only if they are old and/or on the northern parts (Ilocos Region) of the Philippines. Most Manilenos and Illongos speak like Fil-Ams and Most Visayans interchange e and i in sounds.

  • He is hilarious !

  • dude dont make a joke with pacman find another joke man,,its really not good, insulting mannys capabilities to speak english man.. your so shame man , making a bad joke to our hero. i like you rex but for this im out... man its not good!!! damn fuck!!!

  • @madafakar007 MAAAAN MAAANNN MAN. THAT'S ALL YOU KNOW? MAAANNN

  • It's not very nice to make fun of Manny Pacquiao's english capabilities or of any person for that matter. He has been trying hard to speak in English because he wants to be embraced not just by Filipinos but by Americans and the world as well. I know it's not Rex intentions to make fun of him but I just feel offended.

  • @dirtlifter007 Oh come on, man. Pacquiao is a dollar millionaire (and maybe even a peso billionaire), he can afford the best fucking language coach money can buy. Literally thousands upon thousands of middle/working-class pinoys working in the call center/BPO industry speak FAR better English than Manny, and they only had very basic language training. I think to say Manny has been "trying had to speak in English" is absurd. He can try much much harder.

  • @indorock These pinoys that you are talking about ARE high-school and college educated and Manny isn't. They have been "training" all their lives but Manny is not. So it's not a good comparison. And if you look back to his very first fights and compare it to now, you will see the improvements of Manny.

  • @indorock the thing is, he doesn't need to and he doesn't care. he has millions, he doesn't need to speak correct english grammar, accents, etc. there's no really advantage for him to speak good english since he uses his fists not mouth in the ring unless he works as an employee in abroad then yes there's an advantage but when someone has millions already, they don't think how they need to really speak good english since he can buy everything

  • @ayawlex that's the most ignorant thing i've heard today thanks. To state that money can substitute intelligence is exactly why the world is so fucked up these days.

  • @indorock right.. so i guess all those rich japanese people who doesn't even know how to speak english (worst than pacquiao) are dumb/slow then coz they didn't need english to work in their country? or the europeans who aren't good in english and didn't feel to really learn the right way? you think your statement isn't ignorant?

  • @indorock english is not the only language and doesn't mean you are intellectual coz you know how to speak the proper american/british accent. just because he speaks bisaya and not english doesn't mean he's ignorant. check the world stats again, the american people are good in english have low literacy, it's the countries who are patriotic and are not good in english who have better IQ in ave. stop being ignorant

  • @indorock I disagree with you. I can't bum a cigarette in english in the Philippines without having to repeat myself 3 times.

  • @indorock : So explain to me why he needs to speak English better than he does? He doesn't live here in the states. He's a millionaire in his country, so there's no need for him to leave it. So why does he he need to "try much harder"?

  • @mrkuyaveej You'd have to live in PH to understand. Tagalog is the language of the masses, English is the language of the learned. Everyone knows this. But it's more than that. Even your average taxi driver who earns 10000 pesos per month speaks better English than Manny who earns about 1000 times as much. We're talking taxi driver, not an Ateneo graduate. If they can master is, so can Manny. He has literally no other excuse except for laziness. And you're wrong, he spends half his time in USA.

  • @indorock I have lived in the PI...well i've spent a lot of time there and your just espousing colonial mentality. Same as saying mestisas are more beautiful than morenas and all that BS. My point is who does he need to please?

  • @indorock he lives in the phil and doesnt need to learn english just to impress anyone... he's a fighter not a talker and he shouldnt know that much english considering where he came from and how he dropped out when he was in elementary

  • Haha, this guy is hilarious! The Chinese Chicanos! xD
