Thanks so much for posting this. This is the Woodsy Owl PSA that I remember best from childhood.

I remember that I could never understand the line that comes after "Give a hoot, don't pollute" in the first verse. Now I realize that it is "Your good outdoor manners show." What a strange construction.

FYI: Actually, the lead singer is Dave Kimber from Montrose, CA. I (Nate Haase at age 12) got the opportunity to be one of 3 children background singers with cousins Felice Smith Seaman (then age 10) and Laura Smith Rule (then age 9).

I love this PSA too! Thanks for posting it! It IS the first Woodsy Owl PSA, and I believe, the only animated one. I remember it well.

@spy4863 But there was a second animated Woodsy Owl PSA in 1974, where he sings about dirty birds ("Look around and pass the word, tell everyone you know, and never be a dirty bird, no matter where you go, HOOT!")

@heine71 Are you sure? I just don't remember a second Woodsy Owl animated ad, but I could be wrong. I do remember the live action Woodsy ads as well. If there is another animated ad I'd love to see it!
