Someone needs to teach chess players how to shake hands after and before a match. They do it in such an effiminate and weak manner - like they're not men.
At 3:01 the cameraman is like hmm let's look at Magnus... then "OH SHIT, he's making a move" That camera pan was the most action in recorded chess history.
@SteelPokemonFan It wins the rook but with a huge compensation for white. 1... Ng3 2. Vhe5 fe and 3. Kf2! only move Ne4+ 4. Be4 de (double pawn) and g5 with an unclear game
I don't think Carlsen's game was "clearly" better than Nakamura's. Do not forget Carlsen is struggling for compensation cause he got three pawns for a piece (however it wasn't three clean pawns).
The move 15 g6! would have crushed black, but that was obviously a very hard move to spot, especially since the e5 knight had been protecting the g6 square before it went to g4 and even so it is still overprotected.
any significant mistakes(the computer thinks 12 Be2 is better than 12 Bd3 although I'm not sure I agree...if the black knight comes to c4 white will have to exchange his bishop for knight anyway so why not play it actively to d3 where it puts pressure on black's weakened kingside) and indeed he is right!
Interestingly enough it was Naka who was first to blunder (even though he obviously prepared this opening) with 14...Ng4. You can almost see on Carlsen's face that he doesn't understand how black could be getting so much play in a position where White hasn't made
Probably no clapping due to the fact that other games were going on. What a STUNNING result! Carlsen losing with the white pieces, and against an obscure line of the french(.. . . g5!? )Nothing like a surprise move in blitz to unsettle your opponent! Nakamura is a class act, NO doubt about that.
@medicplz The position was lost too for Carlsen after the knight fork on the king and rook. Anyways, forcing your opponent into time trouble by making the position difficult for him so that he errs is a strategy in blitz.
@warLock21X or maybe it's just too big to fit his other fingers?? if he wanted to show power he would wear it on the right index or left pinkie, like a signet ring.
@esquadmiller however, nakamura was obviously winning in the final position anyway haha, so it didnt matter. Time would only prolongue the inevitable defeat of mag.
Carlsen should have won! After R x h6 instead of taking back with the rook, he could have gone g5! After R x R bishop x R check and Nakmura loses bishop b7 ;-)
Yeah, pretty creative play by Nakamura. You would expect this move in... some variations of the accepted King's gambit, not in the French Defence... Nice effort by Naka...
@bumblebee1607 Question is... At what point do you think GM Carlsen's opening prep ends ?. I love the way GM Nakamura likes to leave the main lines and find creative ways to play and WIN.

Nakamura looks so cocky.. well he should finish top 10 in blitz ok maybe a bit lower like 12th place but totally not lower than 15th place.

@bumblebee1607 That is not exactly true. It's quite a common idea to undermine white's center in some French variations by g5, as Naka did
