@ladyraven30 i'm always amazed at how many comments i see on this series about it being a kids show. you're right, it wasn't a kids show! i wonder why so many people think that. perhaps people are confusing it with the animated crypt keeper series that came out in the 90's (i believe it was the 90's anyway) that aired on saturday mornings, as a cartoon. it was indeed much milder than this graphic adult HBO series, but somehow crossed in people's brains? :)

The 'boils and ghouls' is likely a hangover from the comic books, which you yourself mention as being controversial in the first place. I've seen a few of the books. Pretty gruesome drawings(I mean that in a good way lol). But this is a live and graphic depiction of said comics. Then, it was originally aired on HBO, so it was a free for all on language, sexual themes etc etc etc
