  • wow man this is great . WE DID A VERSION TOO. come check it out.

  • joey, your voice is friggin gorgeous :)

  • Great voice, but it sounds like a cabaret, it's not rock anymore.

  • very well done.

just curious....i hear the piano...and what is the other instrument....bongos? or a drum set? Just curious...

  • Moritz has a great voice but please emote a bit...maybe? But the voice is lovely.

    Ilsa is just alright.

  • love the voices .. it does sound a little rushed.. but its still great ... good jobs guys and i have to go against all these losers, the guy playing Moritz ... love his voice... but it could definitely use WAYYYY more emotion...like acting???? where is it? this song is suppose to be way intense , but that doesn't change the fact that the voices were awesome!!!

  • OMMMMMGGGGG I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!

i am DYING to see it, but my parents wouldn't let me if they knew what it was about, i'm only twelve. i'll be thirteen at the end of may though. advice from someone who's seen it?

  • thats really great =) keeeeeep singing!!!!

  • jeez guys i think they're good...

  • i dont reall like his voice

    but hes good

    i guess

  • Great job

  • mortiz is too whiny...don't try to copy blake bashoff, its a peaceful and soft song, with emotion as its only intensity. the tempo is too fast in this rendition as well

  • no offense.. but this was done almost a year ago, and blake bashoff just started a few months ago. just lettin' ya know. =]

  • yea what are u talking about copying blake bashoff if anything blake would be copying this guy. So idk what the hell ur talking about. Bashoff joined the cast in the winter.

  • the guy whos playing moritz needs to add a hell of a loto more emotion into this

  • Sounds rushed.

  • I did it better at my variety show Sorry :{

  • The guy has a good voice, but it doesn't fit the the music, it's too "Pretty musical vibratto-y" and not enough power and rasp with kickass attitude, he needs to learn that it's not supposed to be sung pretty. To be honest...it's kind of crappy all around. There's no performance or emotion in it. Just two people sitting on chairs....singing...boring.

  • The boy can sing, indeed.

But like everyone is saying he needs a tad more emotion.

I'm only a kid but I've performed alot in my time and I know.. Trust me.

&I agree that Blue Wind was a little bit fast.

    But overall great singing !

  • agreed with tainted and garlic

good voices, no emotion or time keeping skills yayyyyy!...no

  • yeah the drums were off, the girl coulodn't keep time, and neither of these guys can perform rock. Broadway perhaps. The guy still had a surprisingly good voice though. Good singer, just not for this show.

  • This didnt do it for me. I really enjoyed their voices, but this song requires a level of intensity and emotion that these performers just aren't putting out. It just seems that everything they are doing is just surface level and not deep.

  • fast

  • Blue wind was way to fast. It is a very flowy song that is on the slower side with pauses in between. The whole story the song is telly is just gone.

  • I really enjoyed the duet, but the drum... thing...?

was a little confusing. i agree with everyone though. more emotion, and what could help with the portrayal of this all would be better blocking, it was a little awkward...

but it's easier to criticize than to do it, i know that being a singing and performer myself.

    but well done :)

  • i think it got a little fast, the tempo should be touched up a bit but i lik it

  • wow me encanta

  • Great job. You guys are awesome. I wish I could sing have as well as you two.

  • Not bad at all. Most people who think they can sing and do covers of ... pretty much anything tend to over-stylize, which is just terrible. The girl started doing it at some parts, but it was forgivable.

Considering the range the two had, they did a very, very good job.

  • Very good. The guys voice is really good. I just think there needs to be a little more emotion, you know? And the girl, she rushed the song. It's supposed to be flowy and slow. Just slow it down. Make sure you can get every word out and defined before you can move on.

  • They both have fantastic voices, but I don't think they're translating the message of the song.

  • I think the guy has a great voice, he just put a cabaret-like spin on it, therefore the true emotion of the song is lost. His agility is fantastic. The girl is alright, and sings it with a pop-like style, which I'm not a big fan of, but they had the artistic liscense. I also didn't hear any sort of the "team-work" that the original recording has. This version is mainly focused on the guy.

  • i totally agree with you. He needed rock it up. it was too perfec his dicton was almost too good. JGJ's way is how i like it but it was refreshing almost to hear it done differnetly. Overall they did a good job though.

  • i just saw joey as mark in altar boyz in chicago. amazing!

this video is great. both have awesome voices. agree with the edgy aspect but i still liked it.

  • The guy has an absolutely phenominal voice!! The only thing I would suggest is to add a little bit more character to his voice. The girl was excellent as well- the only thing to suggest is to watch her vowel sounds on a couple of lines, but both you guys sound great!!

  • The guy was pretty good...he didn't quite have the brash feeling that really makes this song seem like it's being sung by a suicidal teen, but at least he kept the beat and pulled it off with some style...the girl here was all over the place rhytmically.

  • I pretty much agree-guy sounds great girl sounds very good also, although deffinitley a little too fast (I deffinently couldn't do a better job LOL). What is this from, a theater company production?

  • ooh, the acoustics are HORRIBLE! :( They both did pretty well, especially for being in a room with such deplorable sound

  • Basically a ditto of what gorramdoll said. The guy's singing is very stagey for the song and the girl is singing so fast!

  • I <3 the guy's voice!! HOLY CRUD!!!!!!!!! The girl did okay, but nothing like Lauren from the actual show.

  • the girl is a good singer but shes rushing the song. it seems like at some parts the piano has to rush to keep up with her.

i like the guys singing, though.

  • the guy isn't a bad singer or anything, but he's singing it in a REALLY musical-y way. I *do* think he's singing it with passion and energy, just his singing style is weird for this song.

I don't like the girl's singing. Maybe it's just the video but it sounds like she's slightly off key and her rhythm doesn't seem to, well, exist.

    I like the piano.

  • Tempo and blend.

Lovely voices, both of them. Need characterization for this song, but it was a PERFORMANCE, not the actual show, so I'm not too worried about it.

The song does call for a rockier edge. But it's still lovely.

  • Chels is awesome in this song and Joey, first time hearing him and he sounds amazing

  • This is really wonderful. That boy has a lovely voice. Is the piano playing from the off-broadway score?

  • honestly.. i think their singing is greatt!! some guys did it at my school and i loved how theyy preformed it but this is really good too!! the guys voiccee soundss really healthy and projected.. loved it really congratss!!

  • This was great! Really, really great! Kudos!

  • joey's voice is really really good, give him a break! It's not like he's doing a freaking show. there aren't many guys who could do that falsetto like him. eh, chelsea was good. she seemed like she was rushing the song a little bit at some parts though. when they got into the duet it sounded really nice. :]

  • I was there. They were the shit. Shut up about that stuff. Ok? They were bongos, rimshot-boy.

  • They're bongos, promise.

  • maybe he's just a singer not an actor

  • WOW people are so critical, they are doing a benefit, how about good job that ur giving of your time... and they do sound amazing.

  • I agree. The guy didn't seem like he was putting any emotion into it! The drums that you think are bongos are rimshots. If you don't know what those are, it's when the drummer puts his drumstick on the rim of his snare drum and hits it against the edge while he holds the other end of the drumstick against the head of the drum. They're both pretty good though.

  • Okay, the bongos confused me a bit. I swear I was hearing bongos rather than real drums. But, anyway, I agree with the other comments. The guy wasn't into it enough. It seemed like he was more into showing off his voice than actually trying to portray an emotion.

  • Yeah, I thought they were really good!

  • I kind of like his version of it. Maybe I'm strange. Some of us don't want to lose our voices by the time we're 25. I really liked it.

  • They're good singers, but I don't actually feel them putting passion into the song. I don't think of them as people singing as Moritz or Ilse, just as people singing.

  • joeys fierce...nice falsetto! if thats how u spell it...?????

  • Moritz doesn't have enough of a rocky edge in his voice.

  • not bad...actually very good...the girl sang beautifully....and the guy sang the song like any singer who loves musical theater would...the problem was that i didn't see Moritz and Ilse....they both need to relate themselves to the characters...esp. the guy...the rock voice will come after he pulls out a little more "Moritz"

  • Both of em are really talented. It's def. a different spin on the song. It was written to be a bit more rockish, but it was still a very good performance

  • Their voices are very pretty, there's no denying that. My only problem is that the guy sounds a little too happy for the context of the song. And the tempo is off as well.

  • i agree, good voices the guys vioce is rly good but is ment to be more rockish, better for a character like morchoir.

  • I think the guy has a really good voice for it. He is "singing out" more than he should though.

  • Jonathan Groff didn't sing this in Spring Awakening, Johnny Gallagher did.

  • Both have great voices, especially the girl doing Blue Wind! But I'm not found of the amount of vibrato the guy used in DDS. Jonathan Groff mentioned that he had to lose the vibrato for the show, the music just wasn't inteneded to have that kinda feel that you get from that much vibrato. Take that away, and I think this would have been a much better rendition (not that it wasn't great to begin with, I just think it could have been better).

  • great vocals on both. they need to work on the tempo and stage presence.

  • great job guys!

  • I agree about the tempo. It was a little off. I also agree that his voice doesn't fit the song, but at the same time, he's got an amazing voice and I think if he worked on the performance aspect of the song a little bit, and not just the actual singing, it has the potential to be really, really good. I would never be able to sing so well, so I think they're both awesome anyway. :)

  • Oh, and also, it's hard to comment when you have the amazing, awesome, wonderful Johnny Gallagher singing it to you through your stereo speakers whenever you want. LOL

  • What happened to the tempo at the beginning of blue wind!?

  • pure voices have suicidal thoughts too, ya know...

Their performance is awesome. You guys are just being nitpicky.

  • i dont think it's being nitpicky at all. nobody is denying that this guy has a great voice. all im saying is that the emotion of the song is completely lost when done with the "typical broadway" sound.

  • Good voice, but not for this song.

  • WOW! his voice is beautiful! very inspiring. awesome job dude.

  • I never said his voice was bad. However, this version of the song seemed somewhat pointless because the entire purpose of the song was lost due to the fact that there's no grittiness in the sound.

  • his voice is simply amazing!! sheila and sarah claire and lucky to know him!

  • the guy definitely has a good voice. a little pitchy in the beginning, but he got on track quickly. i agree that the voice is too pure though...but still good.

  • his voice is too pure to sing this song, its about suicid
