While I don't hear a lot of difference between metal flutes, the differences between these wood heads is striking, to say the least. I liked the second one most (boxwood?). The last one had a very haunting sound that I liked as well.
All of them SOUND great. Thank you very much for playing. I've been on the fence for a LONG time about switching to wood heads, and I play on Altus flutes. I just can't seem to get the sound out of metal that I want. Thanks bro.
They were all quite lovely, but to me, the boxwood was the CLEAR winner; the timbre was absolutely gorgeous and the projection was surprising...headjoint #5 was also a very close 2nd place. I'm about to start the wooden head-hunting process myself, and you have just completely changed my mind about considering boxwood...great video! :) (I love the Brahms, too!)
@OoMrBenoO I play an Altus Limited. Sorry for the late response.

Hi John. No, not Howell Roberts. The first was a DiZhao, then two were Kotel and two were David Chu.

I liked the last head joint you played. It sounded as it was the easiest to play in tune and had something really special in the core.

Humidity helps wooden head joints. Are they Howell Roberts?

I like the boxwood too - the lightest colour wood. Not quite so clear to me, but I jumped around to make a comparison. It just seems warmer.
