a "real punk" doesn't sell out his band (like Bad religion did with signing for Atlantic back in the days...)... I'm quite happy they did, or else i would never have found there music, but i don't think you can call them really punk... That's what i heard at least

@domien1989 true. But, some punk bands, can go big without completely selling out. Its not like their music changed once they sold to atlantic, just like nofx. Alot people know them, they know they are punk, but they are still popular. Bands like green day on the other hand and the offspring ruined the punk scene, and what people define as "punk rock". Good bands, not punk, never were, Still sell outs. Bad Religion isnt.

Who cares if they are older or younger... And yes, they got pretty commercial, they sell a lot, and so? Why must the "non-commerciality" be the only reason to listen to a band? I listen to Bad Religion because they're music is powerful but melodic, and lyrics are always smart and full of metaphores, and what's more their songs always have lots of choirs, which give them an epic characteristic... Sorry for my English.

There is no solid sound that defines punk. Bad Religion are punk, or at least that is what I think. Punk isn't the same thing to everybody. A lot of people agree on things, while tons of others disagree. BTW, sounding like other bands isn't the point of punk.
