I haven't the foggiest: in the original RPG, they'd be dressed in anything that was practical, concealing, and easy to find. In other words, things stolen out of a charity clothes bin.
Weird;the nosferatu have a strange taste in camouflague,, or there are things that get thrown into the slavation army bins in L.A. whose origins are best left undiscovered.
Then again, Nosferatu live in sewers; at the end of the day, after chasing after misplaced sewerage workers and planting microphones around Sabbat warehouses, their clothes are all going to be the same shades of brown and green.
But I was thinking of the sort of thing at 1:49, 1:58; that sort of 'S&M tuxedo'.
Anyway, it's been a wee while since I last played, the next time I install i'll experience vampire life as a female malkavian. Does VTMB 2.5 have differant costumes for the histories?
The Nosferatu deserve real camouflague, the latest in Land Warrior developments from the US army,, not the energy beams and phasers of course;just the newer armour and surveillance devices.
The Brujah can have the latest russian developments, being social reformists ect...
As far as Nosferatu go, I think most of them would wear what they'd been wearing at the time of their Embrace, and they'd just add armour pieces and equipment to it as time goes on. So you'd start out with a particular set of clothes unique to the character, and build up from there.
However, I think the Brujah would probably have anything that symbolizes rebellion, depending on their personality: one might have the Russian Reformist regalia you speak of, another would dress as a neo-nazi.
Wardrobe for the Gangrel; A kiwi farmers attire; Black singlet, swandri, a pair of gumboots, a swiss army knife and a pair of army surplus four-pocket-basic-fatigue pants.
No underwear.
Toreador :: The latest in emo/steampunk styles, by the most obscure, exclusive and of course;expensive names in fashion. No 'Bling'
Underwear optional.
Ventrue
The most sombre of victorian business attire. The suit that would make Serlock Holmes cry with envy.
Interesting ideas: of course, there's still the Tremere and the Malkavians.
Tremere would probably wear a mix of the fashionable and the practical, with a certain amount of occult iconography. Finely-made jackets lined with kevlar, with cufflinks doubling as magical talismans, that sort of thing.
As for Malkavians, they'd probably wear anything uniquely suited to their derangements, from the straight-jacket to the lab coat.
I thought about that at work today, but the more I tried the less I could make my mind up.The Malkavian'style'escaped me entirely, with obfuscate anything from flourescent pyjamas to a barbed wire bathing suit would be appropriate. You're right with the Tremere; a finely made jacket[suede?] with well tailored trousers and some hard wearing dress shoes. It wouldn't be what they wore as much as how they wore it; any symbolism would only be apparent to the trained eye, or the sophisticated vampire.
I don't know how using obfuscate would create injuries, I was more thinking of the discipline being used to obliviate the masquerade violation[!] For the sake of arguement I envision the Tremere wearing cotton boxers, the Malkavian would of course go 'commando'. After letting go of so many other mortal trappings, death, taxes, fastfood, comprehensible speech patterns,.. wearing underwear would be a relic of an antiquated illusion.
The average Malkavian PC in Bloodlines would indeed be morbid enough to use obfuscate to create the illusion of barbed wire clothing.
But, and this is the point I was trying to make 22 hours ago, would the Malkavian be so dedicated to horrifying mortals that he or she would use obfuscate to MIMIC the injuries gained from wearing barbed wire clothes?
And can we please stop talking about vampire underwear? It's becoming too bizarre even for me.
Would a Mlk be so dedicated to horrifying mortals,he/she would use Obf to mimic injuries from barbed wire, Yes, there would be such a vampire. The wee instruction book that came with the pcgame explains that a malkavians 'affliction' can range from advanced delusionary paranoid schizophrenia to a near vegetative state.
RollingOntheFloorLaughingMyArseOffAndScaring TheCat at '...please stop talking about vampire underwear...' My apologies for making you, or any other reader, feel uncomfortable.
I know that Malkavians can have a wide range of psychological disorders, but in Bloodlines, you're restricted to a fairly whimsical case of schizophrenia and possible multiple personality disorder- coupled with enough morbidity to account for an entire planet's worth of coroners.
Them's the breaks, though- I think giving the player a choice of derangements for a Malkavian PC would be a little too much fun:
I mean, the game's addictive enough already, right?
I was considering: Brujah;George Bush's iraq speechs; played in reverse.
Gangrel; Rachmaninov. Nosferatu; considering they are infomation huckster the sound of a thousand dial-up modems trying to connect should be music to their ears.
Malkavian; Mr Bungle. Toreador; H.I.M. Tremere; The best of Enigma, layered with the catholic mass, in latin,, in reverse. Ventrue; Bach. Vivaldi and a bit of Chopin.
:) They're just wild guesstimations based on my limited tastes in music.
Don't forget: Nosferatu aren't just information brokers, they're also spies. Given their sense of humour, they'd probably like the Mission Impossible theme played on some sewer pipes.
Either that or the dying yowls of a Toreador's ghoul being drowned in raw sewage.
I think its wikipedia that tells some of the story; although being made redundant a few employees stayed on to complete the 1.2 patch, onto which most other patches are made for. [What's the latest patch, I got the 5.04 but I read/saw somewhere it's up to 5.2...]
I'm not certain about patches- I found one for the game a long time ago, but these days, the only way I modify the game is through its soundtrack.
Odd thing, though, isn't it? When a game's released unfinished in some way, the developers end up giving gamers a truly immersive experience in repairing the damn thing!
I used to love downloading patches! It gave so much replay value to some of very first genre-setting pc-games. The only hassle [after updating]was not being able to kill monsters with half their bodies hanging out of solid walls i.e. Quake. In later games, that really upped the level of immersion[Thief1&2] care would have to be taken to note new guard patrol routes ect.
New dialogue options became available in other games[DeusEx,Baldurs'Gate, other RTS's].
Have you ever changed a soundtrack to a particular game?
Oddly enough, on my second try of a RPG, I often try to do that- particularly with KOTOR II, because I couldn't stand the dour music anymore- and it really enhances the gaming experience in it's own ego-pleasing way.

Why do the Nosferatu have a leather bondage thing going on?

I don't think so: it's been quite a while since I used the histories, but it'd be a wonderful alternative to the bondage gear.
In fact, there's a list of the histories on GameFAQs; what would you think the alternative costume choices would be for each one?

"a barbed wire bathing suit."
Continue your suggestions, please: I'm going to lie down and try to stop thinking about that particular one.
I mean, would the Malk also use obfuscate to create the corresponding injuries as well, or would that be too realistic for one of the Madmen?

4me the immersion of VtMB is in its simplicity, the only distractions are story orientated(;todays DX10world =bland[?])
I was thinking briefly of a band, song or genre that best imparts each of the clans virtue ;;some poetry of their existence.
Any insprations?
SiliconBong 3 years ago
hmm... I'd have to think about it.
Besides "Macavity," a good song for the Nosferatu would be "Gollum's Song"- appropriate considering the subject matter.

Sorry. But yeah, it'd probably be a good idea for a sequel: what do you think the protagonist of the first game would be up to?

SiliconBong 3 years ago
Slip of the mouse: suffice to say, I broke up the conversation- sorry.
Smegfromhell 3 years ago
That's OK, I didn't see any notices that anyone had replied in such a long time so I thought the subject was a dead issue.
Do you think VTMB could be remade witht he renderer in DX2 Invisible War?
SiliconBong 3 years ago
Perhaps, but if someone does remake it, it won't be Troika: they apparently collapsed some time after releasing VTMB.

Usually I try to turn the music off, on the first try of a new game,, and i'll play one level below the hardest difficulty level.
I think pc-game music has only recently started to show some significance, as a factor in making the perfect pc-game.
Although the theme to quake[1] was awesome, and may have been the first time I bothered to include the soundtrack in my gameplaying experiance.
