Nice to see someone mentioning Joseph Campbell. I guess you got the right point of his work. If we don't use it just as a metaphor, we kill it. That's exactly the problem of major religions today. They turned a spiritual system of myths and metaphors into literate claims, thus being competitive, arrogant and divisive.

The word atheism ignores the whole point of not believing in a God. It implies some sort of choice, and forces others to reason that you are ignoring as opposed to completely dismissing the idea of a deist power. I completely understand the point a person is trying to convey with they introduce themselves as an atheist, but why not use "Hi. I am a nihilist." It avoids the "game" entirely, and reserves no seat at the table for religious talk.

ThomasZD-You have misunderstood the abstract expressionism , metaphore, and the transformation of the myth. The fact that I am possibly one of the few to come forward in such a way shows possibly I am the only one at the table and other refuse to sit with me. But being alone isn't all that bad because I end up being free from the blanket of false presumptions that come with labels.

Truth is a reliable description of reality, past or present. This is a much debated definition in philosophy, but I think we can all agree with that basic point.

Belief is the psychological state in which an individual is convinced of the truth or validity of a proposition or premise without the ability to adequately prove their main contention for other people who may disagree.

Faith is a form of belief usually with specific reference to a God or Gods.

Since being convinced of the truth of something is belief, I figure that the best thing to be convinced about the truth of is truth itself :) so my thinking stems from the existance of an unknown ultimate truth, and looking for the best method to find that truth.

It is the lack of belief in God, a specific God, usually Yahweh. Atheism is about opening the mind, or is supposed to be. Actually Atheism is not open minded you are confusing agnosticism with atheism and they are diferent. Kashi1987 find out about these things before you spout ignorance. Agnostics believe in nothing but the possibility of god is alright. Atheist by definition denies the existance of one and is exactly the opposite of what you said.

The term Evangelical atheist isn't yours, nor is it a new one. Having said that there's nothing wrong with being passionate about what you believe. It's healthy though to always consider the option that you may be wrong. ;)
