  • The announcer seems like a nice guy, but the vehicle is a bloated WHALE.

  • @bboucharde At the time that this car was built, that was what people wanted. If you spent 10 hours riding in this car, you would BURN your present car.

  • @cadrolls OK, ...... except for the understeer.

  • @bboucharde Although I would prefer a tad of oversteer in my car, in THESE cars, the understeer was a benefit. It actually scrubbed off speed that allowed the driver time to plan his next move in an emergency situation. I know that sounds kind of weird (don't try to make sense of it) but, if you ask anyone who owned or drove one of these cars, they would know what I meant.

Ride comfort in these cars was EXCELLENT! You could sleep on a vacation trip.

Can YOU do that in YOUR car?

  • @bboucharde I just looked at your YouTube site and discovered that you are just 29. Although the newer cars are technically more advanced, they can NOT hold a candle to the cars of 1976 for ride comfort. 1976 was the year that riding comfort was taken to new heights. Why? Lincoln challenged Cadillac in 1974 for ride comfort. Cadillac responded. It spread to other G.M. makes. If you NEVER do anything else while you are on this earth, PLEASE ride in a 1976 Cadillac someday. You'll understand.

  • @bboucharde By the way, I see by your name that you are an American of French descent. Nothing wrong with that. :)

The MAJORITY of people who moved here from Canada chose Cadillac as their luxury car of choice. Every French Canadian in my neighborhood had a big, soft riding G.M. car in which to go back and forth to visit their relatives in Canada.

Hop♥ down to your nearest Cadillac dealer and join them.

  • The 1974-76 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight (as well as the 74-76 Olds Delta 88, Olds Toronado, Buick LeSabre and Buick Electra Park Avenue) were among the first US production cars to offer an air bag option beginning in 1974.

  • So it gets 9 miles a gallon instead of 5.

  • @NICAZOID This car got 14 M.P.G. on the highway and around 7-9 in the city. I hope I have cleared that up. Was it of ANY concern back then?

Not in the least. On a long vacation, people thought NOTHING of filling up twice in one day. It is VERY difficult to convey that to anyone under 50. In other words, it was the TOTAL inconvenience of stopping for gas that was the concern, NOT the price.

Someday, ride in one of these cars and you will know why people CRY (I do) that they are gone.

  • If I am not mistaken, this car is equipped with air bags. About 20,000 Buick, Chevrolet, and Oldsmobile full size cars were put on the road in 73-75 to test the new ACRS system. You can tell by a close look at the steering wheel. It is not the standard Old's designed 3 spoke, but had a large square center with four spokes.

  • @PacificEdibleSeaweed Air bags were an option on this car and did not come as standard equipment.

They were BEAUTIFUL cars, weren't they?♥

  • he seems pissed off

  • Nice back seat for slammin pussy

  • "Impooooved gas mileage". LOL!

  • @miamad yup.. from 10 MPG to 10.5 MPG. or should that be 10 FEET to the gallon? :)

  • Real little windows. A real touch of class. LMAO

  • It's possible, but not 100%. The ACRS airbag system used a compressed gas canister in addition to the pyrotechnic inflator typical of today's airbags, and the gas may have escaped in the nearly 40 years since. It would be interesting to find out if any have deployed in a recent crash anywhere.

  • Those cars were so classy... class, today's Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, and whatever else any Japanese "High Class" is out there can not compete with! That was the golden age!

  • @GayUOPXBoy10 u kidding? u ever been in a lexus? silky smooth...no wonder olds went bust

  • @tednguyen Yes...as a matter of fact I was in a shitty 2009 Lexus Extra Shitty 350 last night and I hated every minute of it!!!

  • The black version of Mr. Rogers

  • The car he's in has the rare ACRS airbag option.

  • @davek12 You think that airbag would still function if the car were crashed today?

  • Notice that car had the airbag system in the steering wheel.

  • Comment removed

  • I just saw one of these parked in front of a dealer for sale

  • That is a great commercial.

  • geees milage

  • Hey! It's Cleveland from Family Guy! sort of..... :)

  • and how about these little windows. lol

  • For 1975 & 1976 those little windows made GM a winner with styling. The Sedan DeVille, Electra 225, Bonneville, Caprice, Delta 88, Impala & Lesabre were good looking cars with those windows. It's unfortunate that beautiful styling only lasted for 2 years

  • The one in this commercial looks like it has the optional airbag...look at the enlarged steering wheel hub!!

  • @dakota975 I think you're right!

  • Improved gas mileage my ass, that 455 with Cat and EGR robs the HP and sucks down fuel.

  • Nuh uh... it got 9 miles to the gallon highway instead of 8 like before!!!

  • @Todd82TA

With an alloy plenum and intake with an air flow regulator, you can get 15 mpg or higher. 1 mpg difference is hardly efficient.

  • @bfgoodrik Yeah... I was being sarcastic. I had a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a 350. I have no idea what kind of fuel mileage it got. I only know that I worked less than three miles down the street and I'd drive it to work maybe two or three times, and I'd have to fill it up every other week. It ran awesome though... of course... for those three miles, it was wide open throttle almost the entie way.

  • @Todd82TA

Yeah, letting it stretch out and run, lol. Those 350s at 100,000 you had to replace the timing chain and gears, they stretched and rubbed the timing cover, however, those were really dependable cars. The 455 had no problems other than at 150,000 the rings wore bad, but still high compression.

  • @bfgoodrik I actually have an Olds 455 big block that I blew almost 5 grand rebuilding and in parts. It's a 69. It's just sitting on a stand because I have nothing to put it in. It's not even broken in yet.

  • @Todd82TA

Oh man, I got two cars with them and one sitting apart in my garage until I get the time and motivation to get something to installed in something. Fuel is kinda pricey now, I mostly drive my Excursion diesel these days. Lets see what the future holds.

  • my dad saw one of these spun around in the middle of the road one day going 35 mph in reverse, by his boss

  • I wish i had a 76 4-door Regency

  • I love seeing these vintage commercials. I own 2 '76 Ninety Eight Regency coupes and they are amazing cars. The ride, comfort, options, style, power and reliability are incredible. I'm very happy to see that they are finally starting to get the respect they deserve. I have a commercial for the '76 that I will upload on here soon.

  • We recently took one of my 98's on vacation from Connecticut to North Carolina. The car ran flawlessly and was perfect for such a long trip. We got over 17mpg averaging 75mph.

  • @IPLAYEDWITHMETALLICA

Dec 6, 2009 - Waitin' for that '76 ad here sometime. Thanks.

  • the sux6000!

  • That would be a 76 Malibu with a body kit.

  • These are fine cars.

Luxurious seats and they rode well, too.

The only thing is, I wonder how much of a gas mileage improvement there really was from 74 to 75. I'd think you'd get maybe 12 mpg with this.

  • My parents had one of those. They were huuuuge. I think they got about 10-11 mpg if I remember right. But then gas was 16-20 cents a gallon.

  • I have a 1977 98 with pristine white leather. best 1000$ I have ever spent

  • thats the thing, you hit it on the head, Collectors overlook these cars as well as rice lovers, that leaves the smart ones to pick up 70-mid 80s luxury cars that have been taken care of. There's so many great deals out there, I really would like a Buick Skylark from 68-72 though.

  • he is horribly great at that car advertising. he makes himself sound stupid. but yet it makes me want to get it

  • Oldsmobile Delta 88 and Regency 98 were the best cars ever !!! Beautiful luxury, and well built. Very smooth ride and can survive the worst accident. The motor was so easy to work on too. Those cars just will not die on you. I still see alot of those cars in mexico, with the worst body damage but still running STRONG !!!

  • Thank you again for this one too. I own a Olds 98 and a Toronado.
