  • hey allan, did you attend st.louis institute of music?

  • @dragracerlarry No. I am mostly self taught.

  • @allendale1962 Good job man can you give me some pointers please because i am sincerely trying and aspiring to play Tiger Rag myself. Thanks. (:

  • @16yearoldwhiteboy I learn by listening to artists that I like. I take teir style one measure at a time until I have memorized the piece in the way I'd like to perform it. hope that helps.

  • @allendale1962 Yeah that's a nice idea thanks great job i hope I can one day play this fluidly! i love the glissandos too make me wanna dance. how long did this one take jw?

  • thank again mr . dale for give such a wonderful moments it´s been a while without visiting your site, and i was really missing it, regards from chile

  • @inbano68 thanks.

  • @mildseverity Thanks!

  • Wheres that left elbow "roar?" :)

  • I don't know! I did my best.

  • This song has been around forever. My late father-in-law had what was probably the first recording of this by the orginal dixie land jazz band on one of those old time 78's. I really appreciate hearing your redition. It is fantastic.

  • thanks!

  • Haha oh that's quite alright, if you take a year to get anything I request on this site I am perfectly content. Sorry I bothered you.

  • Oh sorry I have one other one that I think would be cool to see played in your style....16 Tons, by a lot of different artists but I remember it from Tennessee Ernie Ford

  • OK... but you are cut off from the request line for now. I have too many songs to do! Sorry. I am not getting paid to pay, so I have to do what I can and catch up as time allows me to. Sincerely, Allen Dale.

  • You should get paid to play

    :-)

  • Thanks! Wish I did! LOL

  • I guess I have a few to add to the list whenever you have time. The Battle of New Orleans by Johnny Horton would be an interesting one to try. Maybe The Man In Black by Johnny Cash

  • I will add Battle of New Orleans to my list. I don't know man in Black. Sorry.

  • Agreed. We can all wait until you are ready with new songs

  • Is there a limit on requests haha? Do I have a cool down period before I can request another song?

  • I'm kinda backed up for the moment. Might wanna wait a little bit. If you DO have suggestions, I'll write them down, but don't look for a speedy reply. Thanks.

  • No problem. Take an afternoon off . . . if you really need it. Grab a nap. Have a quick sandwich from the deli..

    We're patient.

  • From the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in either 1917 or 1919.

  • thanks

  • SMOKIN' HOT!!!!

Everyone's better than the last one. You have a fabulous repertoire and have done all my favorites.

I tried REALLY hard to come up with some songs you HAVEN't done. Here's a short list that i think you could set a new standard:

    McNamara's Band

Virginia Reel (I think there's a version on the Lord of the Dance CD)

We're In the Money (from Forty Second Street)

. . . and this may be obscure but it could be a lot of fun for you . . an Irish dance "Treble Reel".

  • I'll keep those suggestions in mind. Thanks

  • Why I never thought you'd get to the song this fast, I appreciate it a million, and you really know how to work it

  • thanks

  • Yeah M-i-z Z-o-u! Thanks Allen!

  • Thanks

  • I love the 1948 Tucker Sedan! I didn't know they made a movie about him.

    Thanks.

  • They sure did. There are even YOUTUBE vids featuring Mr. Tucker and his Automobiles. Just type In Tucker Aotomobile.

  • Hey allendale1962, Did you lose some weight?

  • About 25 pounds or so. Wemt from 215 when I moved here to 169.

  • One of the world's greatest ragtime players =)

  • thanks!

  • Super !

    Found this on the web:

"While compositional credit for the tune is fuzzy, it is generally credited to the members of the Original Dixieland Jass Band who first recorded and copyrighted it in 1917: Nick La Rocca, Eddie Edwards, Henry Ragas, Tony Sbarbaro, and Larry Shields with lyrics by Harry Da Costa. "

  • Thanks!

  • royraaijmakers,

If anyone could play the Tiger Rag in a marching band on the piano, ol' Allen could.

  • Thanks!

  • WOW! brilliant! this reminds me so much of the good ole days! i could imagine this song to some old western bar fight!

  • LOL.

  • haha, cool, we used to play thet song with the school orchestra. (not like that of course)

  • thanks
