I'm having problems. Configured as the tutorial and it worked correctly, but sometime in the game, I shoot the enemies, but the shots do not cause damage! Is there any way to solve this problem when it occurs?
alright so, I'm looking through your gbx forums and I see that you fixed the whole "aiming in first person while in third thing" but I'm not really quite understanding exactly where I'm supposed to set it up and what exactly i'm supposed to comment out with the semi-colon. Could I ask you to please make a video explaining this?
and my character is on my left side of the screen but when i aim it goes into first person and pulls the gun to his face from the right. is there a way to hold a weapon left handed?
I got it all to work except that when I try to shoot enemies (without the iron sight) it goes completely berserk! How did you get it all nice and clean when you shoot enemies?
Maybe you still have your WillowImput.ini and WillowGame.ini files? Can you upload them? I cant get it to work. 3rd person works, but from scope i see just my head and iron sight dont work at all...
what camera settings do you use for your scaling, i tried 13/0/1.75 and i have trouble picking up items and opening chests without swapping back to first person
@xampwnu Improved over the first video, not necessarily the game itself. Also as you can see in the video, I'm 1) aiming and hitting enemies just fine, 2) have my controls bound so that when you aim-down-sights, the game switches back to first-person.
Please learn to read, see, and think before flaming my videos again, and have a pleasant day! :D
@xampwnu use ur mouse/gamepad/controller, position the crosshair over the enemy ur supposed to be shooting at, press the LMB/wadever button tat is assigned to shooting. that's easy for 1st person. 3rd person? do the same thing.
I love how it goes first person when focusing aim, but mine only goes first person when it has a scope of some sort and without one it just zooms a little and the cross air disappears. how did you get that gun in the vid to do that?
Yeah i also noticed, it works with Roland and Brick but with Mordecai there are problems with aiming. I dont know about Lilith because i didnt played her yet.
Besides this, Borderlands in 3rd-person kicks ass and i thank you Ultimate Carl for providing the information and the link to do that.
It seems that in some map the aiming of the gun goes wrong and you accidentally got your character in that map. For example I play Modecai lv 50 in Old Haven and it was fine til I switch to my Lilith lv 20 and she was in Fyrestone. The aiming gone wrong there and I thought it might be lilith. But later on when I use my Modecai to travel to Fyrestone he has the same problem. So it may be the map that is not for thirdperson.
Hey can you try and go back to fyrestone at the computer and try shooting in directions? I'm using brick on another computer and still have that problem. Seems areas like towns where you trade are having this isue. I got that with new haven too near the 3 shops.
Yes, but either you have to be hosting the game, or the host has to have the same settings or something... I don't remember exactly, but they figured it out somewhere in the thread.
If by "ripped" you mean "acquired illegally", then shame on you. :P If you just mean you backed it up or took out a CD check or something then that's fine. Either way it shouldn't matter.
And no, you don't have to play through the entire game (?). You don't have to get INTO the game at all, all you need to do is change at least one control in the options. Doesn't matter what it is or what you change it to.
Unfortunately, not that I know of. I'm sure it's possible, but since it involves fiddling with settings that are hidden and not normally accessible on a PS3 disk there's no simple way to do it. D:
PC. A 360 would likewise be hard to do it on. It's because it involves tweaking .ini files, which are installed to your hard drive and easy to find/edit with a PC, but the equivalents are buried somewhere on the disc and more heavily protected for a console game.
Hi, I've got Third Person itself working fine, But I can't seem to get it to go into First Person when I aim, could you maybe add my email and help me out with this? Thanks.
I think I missed your PM... Anywho I haven't messed with these settings in a while so I hardly remember it. The best I can say is take a look at the thread I linked to in the info and post a question if you're still having trouble.
Yeah, it's a known issue with playing like this. :/ Since it's not officially supported there's not really any way to work around it unless they eventually patch it in officially.
Really? Huh, haven't had that problem, even with Brick. May wanna adjust your camera position if you haven't already, there's instructions on how to do that in the thread I linked!
It happens to me randomly and I dont even use this. I'll be scoped in a 98 accuracy sniper, then have the shot go so out of place I cant even see where it lands without turning.
Dude, when i do it and zoom in i keep seeing brick's fucking birthmark, is there anyway so taht when i hit mouse2, "ironsights" that it goes into first person zooming mode, and then when i stop aiming it automatiically goes back into third person mode?
I've heard about that... Make sure you put the binds in both locations of the .ini, there's two spots. If you did and it still isn't working then... Hm, I'm not sure. D:
At the end of the [Engine.PlayerInput] and [WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput] sections. Even then it may not work unless you're hosting, I always end up hosting because I have a more stable connection than my friends. :P
I would, but I'm unfortunately at work right now and wont be done with that and class for a few hours... At which point the forums will probably be back up anyhow. :P
But, once the forums ARE back up I may post my settings on the thread for reference.
I followed the link to forum instructions but it was a bit vague in terms of placement. Also if I need to put it in Baseinput.ini instead of Willowinput.ini could you help me with that? Thanks again!
Mm, nothing goes in BaseInput.ini, you're looking for WillowInput.ini. In the 6th page of the thread someone posted his entire WillowInput.ini you can check for reference.
You'll find it in something like (depending on your OS) "Documents -> Games -> Borderlands -> WillowGame -> Config". In the same folder there's a file called WillowGame.ini, which is where you place the camera position. You wont ADD anything there, just change the listed options under the [WillowGame.WillowPawn] heading.
If you're still not seeing it, I can try to PM you more detailed instructions.
For reference, in this video I'm playing with FOV 100, CamScale 5.5, CamScaleRight -1.65, and CamScaleUp 1. Note that the different characters are different sizes, however, so you may want to adjust this depending on who you play (for instance, with those settings Brick will cover almost half the screen including the middle of it, making it extremely difficult to see or aim).
I'm playing on PC here, yes. Since it required .ini editing (and in the case of the colors, hex editing) then I think it's theoretically possible to do in a console, but would require some hacking and be quite a bit more complicated. Well, I'd assume anyhow, I've never really done any console hacking/modding.
Thank God Borderlands isn't originally third person, because it would look like that gears of war crap.
