sounds like a Deathstar.... avoid those drives like the plague they will fail and take all your data with them.... They have glass platters and the heads do tend to scratch all teh magnetic coating off the drive... the clicking is the heads resetting so they can read the data but cant..... smash that drive with a sledgehammer if u can
the almighty 'deathstar' avoid those drives, NOT reliable at all. just as bad if not worse, than a MAXTOR!

I'd recognize that sound any time. You've got the Deathstar failure. Great to know that IBM made such 'reliable' hard drives.

IBM Deathstar it sounds like.... Very prone to failing and should be avoided..

I was able to save about 85% of the data off the drive, using Spinrite.
