Thanks for posting! Missing many of these the first time here in the States. These videos are much appropriate. Marc Bolan was an original. For creating glam rock, and influences on others, Marc should be in the Hall of Fame.
Consider Joe Namath in the NFL. Joe Namath was elected more for what he did for the sport, than actual stats. Marc may not have had a long career, but during his time, No artist was as popular in U.K. and Parts of Europe.
Marc as Elvis - no, but I still love it, remember waiting to hear the new T-Rex single in the summer of '76 on Radio 1, this was it, then punk happened, but he bought into that and showcased some of the best earliest British punk bands on his kid's TV show; the best of England- hypocrisy, third-world economy and revolt.
Amazing. The singer and songwriter of the original version of "I love rock n roll" is introducing Marc in this clip. This is rock history and most people don't get this fact watching the clip.
Yeah, and you can see the Arrows singer over Marc's left shoulder at 2:41 on the soundstage in this clip dancing along to the music, clearly loving it!
Marc was the sexiest man I've ever seen. This was supposedly his "chubby", "short locks" stage...well, if that's what chubby looks like, I'll take it! As far as I'm concerned, Marc was adorable at any stage. This is one of my favorite songs....definitely a man ahead of his time. RIP, beautiful boy. Keeping a little Marc in my heart.
The totally irresistable, irreplaceable Mr Feld. Skinny, chubby, long hair, short hair; he was the most gorgeous man that ever walked the planet. RIP my beautiful baby. Gx
Marc was solo at this point in his career. His "Dandy in the underworld" period in 1976.
Like everyone else did in those days, Marc was miming to a track, and although he played the guitars on the pre-recorded track, there was no point in "plugging it in" since it would have hindered his lively performance.
...Whoa. I just realized that Marc Bolan looks kinda like Johnny Depp. I never noticed that before I saw him with short hair. Or am I just seeing things?? Well, anyway, they're both hot.
have u seen the film breakfast on pluto staring cillian murphy he looks quite a lot lke marc in that film i think he"d be good as marc in a film about marcs life
Agreed. For the longest time I thought JD should do it, but that was before I realized how much Jack White also looks like Bolan. Plus, Jack could definitely do his own singing. His voice doesn't sound radically different from Marc's, it's just lower and a little more nasal. He can do that vibrato thing just like Marc did. The only problem is, Marc was kind of small-ish, and Jack's a hulking 6'2".
the gison les paulin the video was marcs favourite guitar , but a couple of weeks later he bought a new black gibson les paul to prevent his oldest and fav one from further damage, but one thing i dont know is what coulour was it ?, i cnt make it out properly !! plz tell me !! lol
Hard to believe this single completely bombed back in '76. Marc's name was absolutely mud at the time. He had been slagged mercilessly by the music press for years.
Although this might be considered his "fat Elvis" period, I still love Marc. He really got himself together, trimmed down and was looking fine when he sadly left us. RIP Marc.
His presence is just overwhelming. He makes the simplest songs, but adds something to each one and I don't know what it is. God, I love him. I really like his short hair, too -- looks sophisticated. X)
this has been my favorite song since i was 7 years old.

Hairdressers often suggest that you cut your hair shorter to look thinner. . . . . don't believe them, it doesn't work.

It's a round promo item, sort of a flat pinback button made by EMI marketing for his 1976 album Futuristic Dragon.

Marc Bolan must have listened to the Rolling Stones brown Sugar a few times before writing this song.

A documentary? Don't you mean biopic? Personally I think Jack White should do the BIOPIC instead of JD.
