  • Yup...that's a true Sheltie..they must herd..control and play..that's why we love them !

  • 0:51 ARE THEY KISSING :)

  • I don't know how to word this but I find this video "beyond cute". It's a level of cuteness I couldn't imagine until seeing it with my own eyes.

  • Cats are evil....

  • I love how the cat is like' Meh'

  • Aww that's so cute! :) Shelties are adorable!

  • How old was your Sheltie here?

  • @daphneisthebest I think he was about 5 years old. He's 10 now and still doing fine, though I don't see this kind of play much anymore.

  • @marnixava Thank you for responding. :) I’m thinking of getting a sheltie for myself! I’ve been watching way too many sheltie videos, it surely can’t be healthy for me

  • I prefer the ears pointing up… I love Shelties!! I’m getting mine soon! I can’t wait!! :D

  • Our dog does did also too our cats

  • If your sheltie isint a working hearding dog there is no reason to alter its ears but if you use your dog for hearding other animals you should alter them because where thire bent they pick up more sound . so lets say your dog is hearding sheep and theres a predator not far away he'll hear it better if his ears are bent. But i dont use my sheltie for hearding so his ears are still pointy :)

  • @amparent37 Where did you get the idea that floppy ears allow a dog to hear better? I think that in general it's just the opposite. It is no accident that when alerted, dogs try to stick their ears straight up. I suppose it's possible that ears which flop a little might help focus certain sounds (depending where they're coming from). But I believe that in general, dogs that can point their ears straight up are able to catch more sounds.

  • it's videos like this that prove that cats are more intelligent than dogs

  • Hahahaha my Sheltie makes the same exact noises :D so cute :D I don't know much at all about dogs but I'm guessing dogs of the same breed all make the same noises. Haha.

  • @robmerrill888 Mine did too. If I was blindfolded, I'd say this was my sheltie playing with the cat. He played with the cat the same way too. Just make the cat black and you have my pets, lol.

  • this is great! i have a sheltie and a orange cat that do the exact same thing, however my dog takes it too a whole other level. our pets wrestle! ur dog is extremely cute though!

  • What were they making out @ 0:52

  • i love shelties soooo much. Got a huge problem with cats, totally hate them

  • lol my sheltie and my orange cat play too!! LOL (p.s. you should glue your dogs ears down... he looks like a big furry taco dog!) =D

  • @TheSimsAreAmazing I would never glue my dogs ears down. I also would never cut their tails or ears. However they're born, I love them as they are. They're my pets, not show dogs.

  • @marnixava Some breeds SHOULD have their tails cropped. This is because some breeds have such long tails that they will continually injure them.

When they are puppies, it's just a snip, and a stitch, and they are done. When they are adults, and IF they happen to have a tail that gets injured all the time, it's fairly major and risky surgery. These things are done for a reason, it's not just cosmetic. Ask a vet about cropping the tail of an ADULT dog, they'll tell you the same thing.

  • @fuzzywzhe It may be "just a snip and a stitch" to you, but probably not to the puppy. I'm not 100% against cropping, but I would never support doing it just to make the dog look "right" according to some standard.

  • @TheSimsAreAmazing how about u just rip your fuckin ears off and shove em up your ass u piece of shit

  • @SMDB82 geeze sorry my goodness!

  • @TheSimsAreAmazing well shit wtf did u expect was gonna happen with that kinda of ignorant comment? glue a dog's ears down, are you kiddin me? that's like cuttin a cat's tail off cuz it looks like a snake.

  • @SMDB82 we glued our shelties ears, it dosent hurt them. we only glued them down because he's a show dog and you have too. its not like we chopped his tail off!

  • @TheSimsAreAmazing

Glueing their ears down does not work. The "set" of the ears is a genetic/hereditary trait. Many breeders believe glue and braces will "set" a dogs ear. This is untrue. The only way to change a shelties ears is to surgically alter them by having a surgeon insert wires. Who would want to do that :(

  • @Dovey200 umm noo, we glued our shelties ears down it worked fine.

  • @TheSimsAreAmazing

Yeah it worked because the dog was already genetically predisposed to having them. Therefore even if you didn't glue them they still would have turned out fine.

  • @TheSimsAreAmazing

Our Shetie and cat play EXACTLY the same way!!!

  • Shelties are the best dogs. Crazy smart and loyal.

  • @qmamzmwm Cat crazy. Cat follows dog. Cat always sleeping next to dog. Cat loves dog.

  • @qmamzmwm fuck you cats suck

  • @qmamzmwm wow relly dude you relly just had to say that

  • This is the most wonderful video!!!! I've had two Shelties and they just melt your heart!! Thank you for doing this happy, happy video!!

  • LOL our shelty sounds just like that and gives our cat a hard time too

  • The cat is just like "whatever, dogs are so silly".

  • Very patient kitty, lol. One day I want a sheltie of my own. :)

  • My sheltie passed away last year and I never realized how much I would miss that playful sheltie growl...cherish every moment you have with them.

  • I have to thet are sweet dogs

  • oooo cute :3

  • Dog thinks cats are for chewing ;))

  • Kitty pwned sheltie at the end.

  • my sheltie does that 2 except shes a little more shy

  • Haha!! Like all of shelties :D

  • im getting one on monday lollllll

  • I also have a sheltie and an orange cat that love to play-fight.

Who in the world are the sixteen people to give such a cute video a thumbs down?!?

  • We have a sheltie, and we had a cat. They were so funny together, just like best friends! This video makes me so happy!

  • Aww bless ginge won in the end. lol The cat was so patient then bang his turn .lol

  • Cat: "Take that, Lassie, and that!" xD

  • cuute :D my cat is scared of my sheltie pup tho... and the lil puppy's less than half my cats size :P

  • My cat terrorizes my dog, I swear he can't even sleep alone

  • They are so cute together.

  • 1:30...........pay backs a bitch!!! lol go kittttyyyyyy hahah so cute =D

  • Okay, one more... I have to get one!

  • lol how cute !

  • rough and tumble sheltie's

  • i like how the cat nails him to the cupboard door at the end aha

  • LOL 1.33

  • That is a cute doggie with kitty! :)

  • T__T I hate those Sheltie noises. aghhh.

  • @LovesHidan

Really? They crack me up :)

I guess I'm very partial to shelties tho :)

  • Cats like, whatev

  • My cousin shelties (Cookie and manfred) when they chase and play each other, they make noises just like that.

  • Awghhh! Too cute. My sheltie was much larger. I want a little one like yours :D

  • 1:14 SUPER COLLIE TO SAVE THE DAY!

  • esse gato é bom

  • puppy collies are the cuttest thing in the world!!!!

  • @dragodroper This dog, "Java", is a Shetland Sheepdog and was about 6 years old when the video was made. I only say this because some people do think he's a Collie puppy. They also often think he's a she, probably because he's smallish and cute.

  • @marnixava well ididnt know

  • @marnixava and also i have a collie labrodor mix and my dog's dad is a full collie and they look exactly a like sorry that i coudnt tell the difference!

  • @marnixava WOW 6 years old!

whats the difference between a collie and a sheltie, besides the size?

  • @dragodroper I've never had a Collie, but from the ones I've seen, the eyes in Shelties look a little rounder to me. I understand they were quite different dogs at one time, like 200 years ago, but back in England they were bred together for a while. I believe that was like 150 years ago or so. So they're related, but still considered different breeds.

  • @dragodroper It the size and the colour..everybody say that it's the version of a small collie, but it's not.Are totally different breeds.Check about Sheltie and Collie and you will see what I mean...:)

  • @dragodroper It's the colour and size.:)

  • @dragodroper : While a Shetland Sheep Dog looks like a smaller bred Scottish Collie, (Lassie type), the Sheltie has a very different blood line. The Sheltie's closest living related breed, is the Norwegian Spitz. And they both descend from the classic Viking Dog. While there may have been some blood mixing with the Collie, as "dragodroper" said, Shelties remain a very distinct breed from the Collie.

And IMHO, the smartest and best dogs, ever.

  • That dog is determined to get the cat to play with him! When the cat finally does, he pins the dog in under twenty seconds! Is that cat good or what?

  • I bet that cat's a boy.

  • 1:12 rescue was awesome LOLZ Break it up.

  • I love that play growl!

  • i love it when shelties growl like that, especially boys. i have a male one that used to do that but only interacts like that to my dad haha

  • LOL, the cat's just like, gooo ayyy-wayyy !

  • your dog is so cute and looks to have a great personality! I'd like to get a sheltie in the next few months- did you get yours from a breeder? If so, could you tell me their website/contact info? thanks!

  • @psantoi Yes, we got him (Java) from a breeder 9 years ago. It was Moonshadow Shelties in West Point, California. They used to have their own website, but I don't see it anymore. However, you can find references to them in Google . We very much love both our Shelties, but Java is really special.

  • @marnixava the cat hinks te dog is its mom?

  • @TheTherealnigga Yes, we think the cat regards the dog as his mom. When the cat, "Webster", was a kitten, he used to "nurse" from this dog, "Java". The nursing went on for a few years, but no longer. They are now 8 and 9 years old and we often find them sleeping together. They still play together too, but not quite as often as when they were young.

  • @marnixava do cats often regard other creatures as thier mom somtimes

  • @psantoi Sorry to butt in, but I just wanted to recommend checking out the Shelty Rescues if you're looking for a new dog. Puppies are cute, but adopting an adult has a lot of benefits and rewards.

  • If i just close my eyes and hear that noise, i remember my own sheltie :)

  • loved it,,,thank you

  • What a cute doggy!

  • sounds like its laughing! :)

  • that sheltie looks and makes the same noise as my sheltie, simon. is that a common noise for shelties to make when they're playing? cause my other sheltie that died last year also made that same exact noise

  • @GreenEyedBeauty1297 The grunting noises made by the Sheltie is the single most common thing mentioned in the comments to this video. It seems that is very much a Sheltie trait. Though only our smaller Sheltie makes those grunting noises. Our larger Sheltie just makes a lot of different breathing noises to communicate, but not grunts. Of course they do both howl at sirens and bark at anything that is out of the ordinary.

  • Our 6 month old sheltie makes those noise ALL THE TIME. Mostly when he's playing around. We call them his "pig noises".

  • @GreenEyedBeauty1297 Of course. My bitch does that constantly when playing with my sire (also a Sheltie).

I'm sorry to hear about your own pet. :(

  • The cat ALWAYS wins in the end, LOL!

  • Wo0fy = ENFP. Cat = INTJ.

  • I LOVE the dinosaur noise shelties make.

  • hahaa the dog is like >:O the cat is more ._.

  • haha funny voice :O

  • It's so funny to see at first, the dog was almost trying to tickle the cat, or just get a reaction. Then, the cat showed the dog how cats play (grabs the sheltie around the neck), and the sheltie tries this and has more fun with it. SOOO cute!

  • That's so cute! Thanks for posting it.

  • Ha they shared a kiss, how romantic!

  • Thats hilarious

  • that was funny. your dog is all smelling the cats mouth. lol

  • My dog died a while back and I'm feeling a little homesick. This little video reminds me of my own sheltie and how energetic she was when she played. My cat never liked her but they play fought too. <3 Good memories

  • I have a cat just like that Ginger Tom, except it's even more obese/muscly. It once saw a huge German Shepherd and did that cat thing where they get ready to pounce: needless to say I had to shoo the bugger away otherwise my boisterous cat would have got all 2 stone of him ripped to shreds!

  • hahaa! so cute! that cat is like back away dog...just back away.

  • 0:07 was best haha and i like it how the shelties growl haha:)

  • My dog Lassie (A Blue Merle collie) does this to my cat XD

  • That looks just like my old dog Taffy that died back in '96. She died of old age at 15 years old. Rest in Peace Taffy(1981-1996)

  • you have a tolerent cat. Our poor shelties don't stand a chance against our cats! It is funny to watch them try tho...

  • this is why i love shelties...he's playing "rough" but every "bite" is careful, gentle, and playful

  • That cat rocks! Which did you get first, the dog or the cat? I have two cats and am looking for a good dog to join them. I love collies!

  • We got the cat as a kitten when the dog was about a year old. The dogs are Shetland Sheepdogs, also known as Shelties. They look like small Collies, but they're different breeds. Shelties originally came from the Shetland Islands and some were bred with Collies ~150 years ago.

  • Funny how excited the dog gets compared to the cat. Especially in that short clip between 58 secs and 1.06

  • Very cute!

  • shelty noises!!

lol...they all sound like that, too funny!

  • @pressrolls I agree. My sheltie makes the exact same sound.

  • he,s in love with this cat...

  • Lol I almost used the bathroom on myself lol!!!!!! That was funny!!!!! 5 stars!

  • I laughed out loud at 1:14.

  • Lasie vs. Garfield !!! Great video!

  • lol

  • i wish cats were the same size as dogs so they can both play together i have 2 dogs and one of them weighs about 110 pounds so if he plays with a cat he might break its legs or something

  • In our case, our small Sheltie is 16 lbs and our cat is 15 lbs, so they're nearly equal in weight. But despite what seems like fighting, they are very close and they are playing. Every day they sleep together, even though there are lots of separate places where they can sleep. I have several pictures of them seemingly embracing each other while sleeping. Our larger Sheltie (35 lbs) is different. He rarely wants to have anything to do with the cat.

  • Way to go, cat! What is your name? We are Shiva and Jaya and we love dogs!

  • That's that wonderful herding instinct that those shelties have!

  • sorta sounded like quacking! but still awesomely cute!

  • This is why everyone should have a dog AND a cat, especially if they're gone during the day. They keep eachother company (if they get along, that is).

  • I totally agree, and it's fun to watch when they play together

  • Hehe, I'm happy to hear that is a friendly fight =). I love how they both wag tails there in the kitchen-part.

  • Oh my god, our sheltie and our cat do the exact same thing. the cats just minding her onw business as the dog growls and nips at her. the cats just calm and battin at her with her paws and will randomly charge at her with her paws out. its so funny and cute

  • lol i guess those are just sheltie noises!! i felt like i was watching my dog!

  • Beautiful sheltie reminds me of my sheltie. mine makes the same noises when playing.

  • My sheltie makes those same noises!

    Beautiful dog!

  • wow so does my sheltie

  • KISSING ON 0:52

  • I've seen this before only my animals that looked like these guys were alive.

Our tan cat's name was Morris who was about 10 and passed away in early '08.

Our sheltie's name was Nigel and he passed when he was 16 years and 7 months which was actually about four months ago.

I wanted to say they never played like this but always got along.

Also Nigel just like yur sheltie makes that same noise. Dad always called him a piglet when he made the noise.

RIP: To my best friend Nigel and cat Morris.

  • Brilliant.

  • It's funny because this could almost be a video of my orange tabby and sheltie, they play-fight just like that. It seems they're not as unusual as I thought :)

  • You should try to get a little movie of the two and post it on youtube! I'd love to see another pair like the one we have. This dog (Java) and cat (Webster) sleep together (the cat often being the pillow for the dog's head) and play together every day. They are really like a couple.

  • I love the two times when the cat just sits there innocently then randomly attacks the dog...hehe

  • The cat is using a "Rope-a-dope" strategy. Let the dog wear itself out bouncing around, then go on the offensive.

  • So hard to wear out a sheltie!

  • i have a shelty and they are the best dogs eve. UR SHELTY IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL it looks like u keep her (or him) very clean and brushed. beautiful dog

  • xD The sheltie barks and bites while the cat just tries to slap him :D

  • I wish my cat would get along with my dog. =(

  • thoroughly enjoyable to watch!!!!!!!!!

  • my dog is the same i wish my dog grew it fur already please tell me when did your dogs fur grow

  • Well, they had fur when they were born, but their white collar area didn't grow large until they were about 8-12 months old.

  • lol. i love sheltie collies because theyre like my dog which is a rough collie apart from th shelties are smaller

  • shelte power!

  • haha, the sheltie shows up growling and the cat's like "excuse me wtf are u doing"

  • 1:18 LOL

  • AHHHHH.....:)))

  • so funny! i have a sheltie and an orange striped cat too and they play the same way. my dog even makes those same noises! haha. very cute!

  • Thats pretty cute! they are totally buddies!

  • that last move by the cat pwned the dog.

  • Lol my sheltie hates cats after one scratched him on the nose when he was young :/.

Yet he seems fine with my nans cat

  • That cat's very patient. c;

Much love for both Shelties & kitties. <3

  • hahaha the sheltie said "ka!" @ :17 lmao!

  • Haha, how cute. I've noticed a pattern. I have two tri-colours and a sable. My two tri colours have the exact same bark and growl, and this sable in the video has the same growl as mine. Weird. :)

  • That is just adorable!!!!!

  • that's so cute ^^

the cat is a little fat xD (sry i love cats <3)

  • Our little(?) 8 month old sable Scout, also plays with Varek, a Turkish Van (cat); just like yours does. Varek loves it! (They also clean each other's ears.) Our 3 yr old sable bitch, Sophie, also used to play with him until we recently got Scout . Varek was at first quite put out, but is happy now he has another play mate. B.T.W. - your dog looks just like Alastair, (Sophie's father) who belongs to a breeder we know here in South Australia. (We figure you are probably from U.S.)

  • LOL. The end is funny.

  • Omg I have a cat that looks exactly like that cat and I used to have a sheltie and they would play fight all the time.

  • Haha the smallest dog makes hillarious noises... xD so cute <3

  • at 1:19 is when the cat makes his first move. lol wonderful vid. INSTANT FAV

  • omg!! its just like billie!!

  • that looks like my sheltie and cat when they fight!!

  • It was lovely to hear the shelti playing with the cat, my boy has since past and it was lovely to see a MacDougal playing he is know cremated and sitting on the lounge window looking out like he did when he was alive.

  • aww cute

  • Rotfl the cat looks like it's drunk^^ "omfg leave me alone"

  • There is another sheltie?!

  • Yes, we have two Shelties. The other one, Linus, is the larger one at ~35 lbs. This one, Java, is only 17 lbs. Linus is rarely plays with the cat (Webster). Webster and Java are very close. They often sleep together, usually with Java using Webster as a pillow. When Webster was a kitten of about 12 weeks old, he would treat Java has his mother and try to nurse of off him. He still does it on rare occasions.
