@Vampirewolph36 No, Michael Bolton STOLE one of The isley Brothers songs. Pat Boone, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis STOLE songs and a wild image and called it "blanching." This was a cover song and so was Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan. They were paid for the use of their songs. Little Richard wasn't. James Taylor made a classic song, but come on. More heart? Please.
apparently there is a Tammi Terrell version of this song which will be on A Cellarful Of Motown 4 to be released later this summer. How exciting is that!
this song remind me of my father ,he passed away 8-1990 i remember when he use to play all the Isley brothers on his fisher stereo lmbo i miss my DAD but,i have this kind of music to keep him ALIVE in my heart <3
Believe it it not this song is née to my ears! I live it but I was born in the 90's so maybe that's why It sounded so familiar. As a child I'm sure I heard this and many more... But when your so young who's even counting?! Lol
This is the epitome of soul as I know it having grown up in Washington, D.C. Take a beautiful song (Yes, James Taylor) and make it something more. What a voice - smooth jazz as in WOL radio.
The Isleys pulled an "Aretha" when they recorded this song. They took James Taylor's song and sang it better than James. Taylor wrote a damn good song (among other good songs) but he didn' t sing it like this. This version is so good that it's become the standard that other versions are measured by. I love the Isley Brothers--they're great!
You had the strength to sing this song with me three weeks before you passed, mama so, R.I.P. Mrs. Allene Rogers...I love you and will keep the Isley bar-be-que-Benson and Hedges Lights (no menthol, please!) , finger-poppin' memory going for you, my dear. July 19, 1937 - May 5, 2009
I used to sing this song on those hot summer nights in tampa when the old folks and teenagers would put this album on the turntable in the 70's and you would listen to the whole damn album and sing all the songs. Kids today don't even get 3 good songs on a cd but we got the whole ticket and experiencend the ART of the Isley Brothers. I thank all those acts in every genre during the 70's that what they did was art and it was amazing.
This is me and my mom's favorite all-time song. We would sit on the porch on hot summer nights and belt it out together. Ma is ill now and cannot sing it with me anymore... I dedicate this song to her. Thanks for the memories, Mrs. Allene Rogers!! I'll keep singing all the Isley's for you...And thanks to the person who posted this great Isley hit.
@browndove06 I am very touched by your post for I know all to well the value of memories and the impact music can have on those precious memories. Keep singing for Ms. Allene and keep making memories with your family - cause in the end all we have are memories. Peace & Blessings
@browndove06 May God Bless you and keep you in his loving care...very touching post. There isn't nothing like these really great old school jams. peace~

@Vampirewolph36 You're entitled to your opinion but you are wrong. James Taylor wouldn't say that.
