  • i know i just know that you have potential and will one day have a manga you draw awsome

  • When you rub out the pencil, do your ink lines get a bit faded, cuz mine do its not exactly a crazy amount of fading but I can tell that it has?

  • you are great mangaka bro!!!!!! i see future in you work!!!

  • hey when you are a proffsional in the future will you still post these videos on youtube?

  • @lanciavsmukuro123 hell yh!

  • You ink over the original pencils? D:

  • how do you know where your going to place each panel and how big and what shape?

  • doujinshi pouser....

  • HELLO WHYT! its PHATION / RUdragon. IM FINLLY ON YOUTUBE^^

nice work you did here, hmm what size paper you using, and do you have a light tabel? it make it Ez-er to clean up your sketches. and i should put how i make my work on here to. keep up the AWESOME work^^

  • Hey do you know where I could get those Sakura Inking Pens from? Greatly appreciated! c:

  • What size paper do you use for your final (inked) pages?

  • How do you get different values with the same pen? I use sakura pen a lot, is there one I do not have?

  • why do you star by inking the speech balloons. And why does the pencil page haven't got text in them. I said this because when i make a page i draw, add text to the speech balloons and ink. And when i ink i only star from left to right, top to bottom. My English is bad, I know. Hope you understand

  • @OanaTheMeerkat i draw the balloon first because the pop out of the panel, if i drew the panel first then the lines for the balloon will cross the lines for the panel, hope that makes sense. and the only reason i have not put in text is because i will scan the page and put text using a computer software.

  • does anybody know if there is a proper size to do manga on paper, cause i know they cut some off the page when they print i think.

  • @Jawbonesword50 Most people use A4 sized paper.

  • omg youve got talent <3

  • how did you learn anatomy?

  • @Naru9327 reading other manga and learning from them with practice

  • That looks amazing! My favorite manga artist is Hiro Mashima.

  • Um hey everyone I just started a twitter and I'd like follower to critique my art because I want to be a mangaka too! It would mean a lot if you guys could take a look at it. ^^ follow me @tobitguren on twitter. <3 profile pic is spongebob as of now. Thanks.

  • beautiful

  • is that a 005 micron you are using?

  • @GrezSlash nope i use 01, 03 and 05 but 005s are great too

  • How are you so good at making panels? I always make my lines crooked or something. TT_TT

  • is that a sign pen?

  • what do you call that pen?

  • I love micron pigma pens

  • hey whyt manga, when u draw the panels how do u make sure its perpendicular for the lines

  • @Manga8442 honestly i judt go with the flow, if it looks perpendicular, im doing it..lol...but you could get deleter b4 type A comic/manga paper cause it has guidelines to help ya, im actually thinking of using it. here im using type B

  • @WhytManga ok thanks,my sis just told me a few minutes ago that if u use a set square and put a ruler on the paper and put the set square on it it makes a perfect right angle(not sure if u unterstand if u don't then try it yourself.)

  • You're pretty amazing! D: I'm really impressed!!

  • Awesome. But that "you and me" sounds so retarded for me and it sounds again and again and again LOL. Gj anyway

  • What about inserting the text IN the text box. Cuz I do not know how to do that.

  • @BonkersTheBear i have other videos on that

  • badass.

  • dude you're amazing! I love your drawings they're so detailed!

  • the 1 person who disliked this: Screw u

  • wtf i find that really weird, that's such a coincidence.

how can i find Eminem's name on every video? kind of irrelevant..

i'm a huge fan of Em,that's weird that i'm finding something related on every video..

  • whoa, your art is amazing, if i didnt know any better id think it was professional, great job.

  • Great vid man, keep up the great and inspiring work.

  • @questionmark14 thank you man

  • DAMN! some people leave the shittiest comments against you....like people rant/commenting on the materials you use....and how you make your manga..WHYTMANGA keep going (:

  • Over the last two hours you and SaiyanArtist have gotten the most votes.

  • @kazanjianm really? cause i just checked again and i think RonaP just used us to whip the floor! HAHAHA..i should feel a little down but its just freaking funny hahaha..oh and thanx again for everything

  • your style is so cool, you have much talent

what size pens did you use?

  • i love using a brush/ micron/ nib pen combo. nib pen and micron to hit most of the detail while the brush i use for most outlines and such.

  • nice drawing i would like to learn how to make manga too

  • I don't get it. Where's the manga? The combination of the shading and line quality looks like an American comic, that just happens to have an east Asian theme. The inking itself is great, but how is this a 'manga' inking tutorial?

  • @daroseille go read mangas like "vagabond" and "slam dunk", the shading and line quality are even more than mine, and manga's like them are the definition of MANGA, seriosuly check them out and you might want to take back ur comment....lol...and oh and i never said this was a tutorial

  • @WhytManga More what? I'm familiar with both manga. Your work bears no stylistic resemblance to either titles. Your lines have very little variance, whereas line variation is a major feature of manga, even in the detail work. They also use cross hatching to create rounder forms and shadows.

My mistake on the tutorial part. I think I must have linked to your video from an inking tutorial.

  • @WhytManga I just looked up your toning video, and the inking there looks completely different from this. I am confused. It looks like you used different materials for that.

  • @daroseille i did use cross hatching. no resemblance? well u have seen just 2 pages, so you cant really say and thats why i wouldn't argue with you on stuff like that. I used the same materials for the whole manga (still in the works), same style same everything.

  • @daroseille You do realize how many mangakas cross hatch right? : P

  • Ah.. This is really amazing, I'm a bit jelly-o :[ cuz when I start to do this, my drawings end up really really messy xDD, you're amazing ;-; <3 waaant gimme your hands rawr xD

  • Really good job man, and thanks for the tips!

  • hey, i have a pen like that! good choice, hah

  • I've always loved microns because of their precision and the level of detail they can invoke. You were exactly right in your response to annieruoklol, it's the artist!

  • microns ftw!! you are deff a big inspiration man!

  • No offense to you, but I can not stand it when people, solely, use microns. They are good for somethings, but they can never compare to using nibs and brushes.

  • @annieruoklol no offense to you really, but i laugh when people say what you just said, here is what i know, THE TOOL DOES NOT MATTER. WHAT REALLY MATTERS....IS THE ARTIST., its not what you use, its how you use it, i dont care which you think is better.

  • @WhytMangaStudio yea i agree with you. you can buy a buinch of high end products but if you draw like shit (not trying to offend anyone cause i draw like a demented 3 year old) then it doesn't make any difference expect that youre wasting time and money. but this looks amazing! i love how you colored it in. the one complaint i would have is just the choice of music but that's just me being picky XD love the page.

  • @WhytMangaStudio Although it's true that the quality of artwork is primarily determined by the skill level of the artist, proper equipment does play a role. Even the best manga artist needs proper tools, and microns/technical pens do not provide the level of control that nibs do. So yes, the tool does matter, and is very evident in the final product.

  • @abc12369499 i see what you mean, but microns give me as much control as i need and im cool with, who knows, if i master nibs, i might prefer them to microns, but will i use nibs over microns now, when im better with microns? nope..im not gonna use nibs just because some pros use them, when it comes to control, i dont agree, cause i dont currently have that much control with nibs, but thats just me, thats why i say use what you are comfortable with.

  • @abc12369499 obviously to an extent tools matter for example you might not want to use a ballpoint pen to ink...lol..but in this case, it does not matter

  • @WhytMangaStudio While that may be true in some respect, but the types of tools that you use do make a huge difference in your art. Do you really think that half of those ancient Greek sculptures would have lasted as long as they have had they been made out of cardboard boxes?

    I think not.

  • @annieruoklol Jim Lee inks with microns and sharpies...and he sucks too huh?

  • @FromHC2Metal Actually, he does.

  • @annieruoklol George Perez uses pens like this. Wanna say that to him as well??

  • @annieruoklol erm whats the problem? He's still done a wonderful job so i dont see the issue.

  • what kind of paper do you use??

  • @nuno97100 check the description

  • do u use normal paper or manga paper? oh and by the way u r really good. do u want to be a mangaka or r u one? XD i think ur awesome at drawing!!!!

  • What kind of paper do you use and what size is it?

Very helpful video by the way :)

  • do u use a computer on your work?

  • did you get that ruler from Michigan books and supply or somewhere i have the same one

  • Thats pretty cool.

  • Sakura micron pigment liners FTW!

  • Daaamn....so talented. Dx

  • Very helpful ;)

  • Whats the paper size?

  • how long did it take to draw that?

  • @mysteryangel247 like an hour or 2

  • what for paper did he used ? a4?

  • Just wondering, why do you use a Micron over a nib?

  • @Bass because 'm more comfortable withe the micron, I've never actually sat down to learn the way of the nib..lol..but i do, maybe i might switch, because i have good things about the nib but i have also heard bad things too. doesnt really matter what use, what matter is ur end result...at least to me

  • @WhytMangaStudio I see. It really does come down to preference then. Nibs take a bit longer to get used to, but in the end the working process will be a lot faster than using Microns. So far I've never had any of the horror stories happen to me with the G-Nib, though I've seen people really mess up their pages with the Speedball ones.

  • Marvelous... ;-;

But how come your inking doesn't fade when you erase the pencil lines? TT^TT

  • @FieryPuPdoggy because im gangsta like that..loool

  • @WhytMangaStudio Fine then Homie G >3>

  • @FieryPuPdoggy It depends what sort of pen you use, i use faber castell for my fanart and whenever i erase lines color never fades black or any other

  • this music sounds like samurai champloo. awesome job by the way

  • Awesome inking!

  • Love how you inked that page. I'm having a hard time inking mine because I'm used on inking pages through PS.

Maybe you could give me a tip on inking cause sometime my hands rattled so my inking becomes dirty.

  • what comic u make in this vid?

  • @zackyzackzahid Samurai Top Hat...to be released Soon

  • Hi one question, what kind of marker or pen is that? and will it be easier to use that an ordinary nib pen?

    thanks! =]

  • @kiarzzz123 i used sakura micron inking pens and sharpies, sharpies are easier to use, if you really really want to be professional about it....then you could use caligraphy brush (or ordinary brushes) and india ink (or ordinary ink) honestly medium dont matter as much as the finished piece...use whatever you know how to use and are comfortable with.

  • is that just computer paper or is it a certain brand?

  • @gaaraartist its deleter B4 type B paper

  • love this vid :D

  • Maybe try switching to a cover stock or Bristol? Your work would stand out more if you changed your media. Not to mention your work would become more durable and have more longevity if you plan on scanning it and transporting it around place to place. Have you tried moving away from tech pens and tried inking with brushes? It would add an entire new dimension to your work. Anyone can use a pen to draw, it takes real discipline to learn to ink with a paint brush

  • Your very confident with your strokes

  • @ArumagedonOfficial yeah the art in RAL GRAD is just plain BEAUTIFUL. thats the best way to describe LOL

  • Please respond to my PM -_-;

  • Excellent stuff! I really like your style.

  • everytime i erase with inking drawings the ink fades....

  • La musica es loco!!!!!!!!! lol Oh hell yeah!!!

  • i like that micron marker, and your drawings.

  • what song is this love it

  • i freakin love your drawings dude. you inspired me to draw more details.

  • Everyone wants to know what kind of tools an artist is using. Just use any pen to ink with. Get yourself another one when you hate the tool. I use whatever is close to me. Sometimes I feel like using a mechanical pencil. Sometimes a regular one. Sometimes I feel like I have to ink the drawing. Simetimes not. Dont worry about tools. Start drawing.

  • Muy Bueno

  • @Deadly088x gracias

  • @WhytMangaStudio Sabes hablar español o usas traductor?

  • hey was this song that you have free or did u have to get permission

  • @artgonzgonzales i got permission

  • oh yeh and awesome :P !

  • what size does your inking pen have? my smallest is 0,1 and i find that way to thick ! also its not a inking pen (like g-pen) so not as smooth with my shaking hands

  • @Schoening91 You can actually get a micron pen that is size "005". I got it in a micron pen pack that was $17.00 at Michaels or just your nearest art store. That may be helpful for your "shaking hands"! Haha! Hope that was helpful :)

  • which pen are you using? great job by the way!! :D

  • @JumpArt12 its b4 deleter paper

  • ...WOW.

  • really good artwork, u should be really proud of your talent, but there are things missing. u should put SFX, a lot of perspective and use screentones and also do some other minor things to make it be a real manga.

  • @Klaus7412 title of the video is inking a manga page, not making one. i dont ink tones...lol.., i put tones, sound effects and text in manga studio, so actually nothing is missing. the video is strictly inking, i have finished manga pages on my deviantart but they old, so they are good but im better now. thanx 4 d comment

  • @WhytMangaStudio Why are you lolling at screen tones? Much better manually than digital. CLASSIC!

  • @raytawatari i tone in manga studio, whether you think manual is better? i don't care! I'm the one drawing. when you tone you can do whatever you want. I lolled at inking the tone WITH INK (its funny because you cant use ink to tone, you need actual screen tones i think), i think you assumed i meant screen tones, if thats the case, you were wrong. in my opinion, it depends on who is toning and not what toning method is used. both traditional and digital methods are GREAT IF USED CORRECTLY

  • @WhytMangaStudio You're absolutely right. I gotta apologize for my other comments too. Care to PM me about the usual mangaka stuff? I've been drawing for 8 years now, have a couple of stories & I'd like to exchange some techniques and all. We don't have any mangaka around here...Hm.

  • @WhytMangaStudio where can i find screentone? and how do i produce a complete manga page? im new to this :P

  • @alejandrothefader there are many ways to make a finished manga page. one is manually with inking like shown above, buying screentones (online. deleter is one brand i have heard of but i know there are probably others) then you have the digital process which i prefer. i use photoshop but there are other programs like manga studio, comicworks ect that are specially for producing manga. hope this helps.

  • @Origamiman979 thx, you did!

  • @alejandrothefader glad to help :D

  • song is fire. what is it from or is it original? either way i want it .

  • How do you do your shade lines

    like |\\\\|

  • do you add in the text on manga studio? and if you scan youre work do you need to get rid of any uneveness or marks caused by the scanner?

    btw you rock!

  • @thekillerose scanning is the correct way, and yes you must clean the scan, BUT, theres the oldschool/traditional way, ... put the paper on a typer, :P

  • @WingsOfInferno wow! i never thought of that, thanks :)

  • @thekillerose yup, u also tone in mangastudio

  • @WhytManga kool thanks :)

  • Why R YOU SO PROOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is the difference between a4 and b4

  • what is the differece between A4 or B4 paper size

  • @catamontreal1 b4 is for comics..i think...lol anndit bigger and better to work with, especially deleter b4 paper

  • @WhytMangaStudio

Yes all professional mangaka and manga magazine in Japan use B4 size. B4 is the standard size for Japan professional manga.

Does any one knows what size USA use for professional mangaka and offical magazine publisher?

  • @WhytManga nice! what size of paper did u use? (B4. A4, A3, etc)

  • @LazyOne07 b4

  • How long did you take to do one page? .... I am thinking about doing a private manga for my friends and family to read ...

  • @ILuvMyMasterChu 3-4 hours

  • my favorite manga artist is definitly Takeshi Obata, artist of series Hikaru no go, Death note, and currently working on Bakuman, and artist of the one shot Uro-oboe Uroboros and Hello Baby.

  • Comment removed

  • what kind of pen did you use?

  • @Fulmetal102494 sakura micron inking pens

  • @WhytManga very cool, for the blacks i notice you use sharpie, how do you like it? does it work out well for you, i use a brush pen i bought at an artstore i never thought about trying a sharpie, i just figured it would bleed through the page

  • How do you hold the camera? o_O It's amazing! D:

  • @YukiTenshinsChannel i use a tripod and i place it in front of me..thanx

  • awsome work keep it up

  • Anyone else get tired of bishop after awhile?

  • Comment removed

  • plz put this on deviantart and also check mine out its yankeesfan33

  • @TheSeng221 No it's not

  • My favorite manga artist is shirow miwa, the creator of DOGS bullets and carnage

  • My fav Pigma is 03, I try to stay away from 01, too thin and mines ran out so fast but idk how so that's why I don't like it. Well, I haven't read the YYH manga but I've seen the anime which has made Yoshihiro Togaru my favorite b/c the story is fantastic and I'm sure the art is too for the YYH Manga. I like Tezuka/Toriyama b/c they don't have that modern manga style and it gives me a cartoony feel. You also seem to be heavily influenced by Tite Kubo.

  • Its ya boi bishop. Lol good song good art. Love the new all traditional art style.
