"Jesus, Jesus, there are those that say they love you
But they have treated me so God damn mean
And I know you said 'forgive them for they know not what they do'
But sometimes I think they do"
It's so sad that this is how Christians are viewed today. But it's true, and I hope that we can change that and not push people away like the church so often tends to do. I'm just glad someone finally had the courage to write this song. This song says what nobody had the courage to say. Thank you, Noah.
i have watched this video at least 30 times. i love this man. he is amazing. his music makes me think and smile. he is a huge inspiration. i wish that one day i could meet him. thank you for posting this.
Your right, I assumed you kinda knew what I was talking about when I said "flavorless and stagnant". My fault...
Yes people are always gonna be people. We will still makes mistakes, fear and doubt situations in our lives.
What I was saying is when people remain "neutral" in their lives, it makes them "flavorless". Like a husband refusing to be open, honest to share his emotions with his wife, is an example of "stagant". Where you make the decision to not make a decision at all...
The Bible repeats many times "to ask and you sha'll recieve." It also says "He is close to the broken hearted". And JESUS even said "i didn't come for the healthy, but i came for the sick.
There are many things in church that people are very hush-hush about. And it's not done intentionally, it's just fear of ridding their reputation.
Noah has done nothing wrong except ask the questions that people have constantly in the back of their mind. The questions God only answers.
Yes, God is not intimidated by our questions. He actually says "I wish you were either hot or cold," and this means not literally, but figuratively. He wants us to be close to him or at a great distance, because "in between" (lukewarm) is flavorless, stagnant and has no progress...which leads to no questions or answers.
There is an answer for everything Jesus stated that "With God all things are possible".
@TheTrapp2010 That makes no sense... Let's say positive atheism is point A and God is point B. To get from Point A to Point B, wouldn't you have to go through Point C, a "lukewarm phase", a midpoint? Progress in our relationship with God implies that there is a sliding scale on which to gauge progress, not just a Point A and B. And please don't use vague and baseless words like "flavorless" and "stagnant"...
I know Noah Gundersen personally, and this song isn't so much about what you think is messed up with him. It's about the world and how there is so much to live for.
This song is incredibly sad. The fact that the church has burned this kid so badly, and that the love of Christ has yet to penetrate his heart, though he wants it so badly. Its the face of the lost world.
One of the most real, and beautiful songs I've heard in a long time.
@ThisPlaceLiesWithin "Jesus, Jesus, there are those that say they love you, but they have treated me so G-damn mean." It seems he's been hurt by Christians...
@TrooperJ We don't reflect the love of Christ as we ought, because pride and condemnation have become standard in modern Christianity, not brokenness and utter dependence upon our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
@TrooperJ Excuse me? Maybe Christianity hasn't "penetrated his heart yet" because he's still seeking a rational argument against the points he's bringing up in this song!
@TrooperJ Hey, I appreciate your thoughtfulness, but I'd urge you to consider this song as the direct result of Christ's love indeed penetrating his heart (to use your language).
