@Mr84C --- doubt that mate when on average a auto is a second slower than manual on 0-60, in a manual 325 is about 7.3 seconds, the ST220 is 0-60 7.5 seconds bmw is slightly lighter by a mere 5kg, auto is 35kg heavier. 0-60 in an automatic 325ci is 8.3 seconds, 0-60 in 330ci auto is 7.5 seconds same as St mondeo ha,ha,boom, boom. the 330ci manual is quicker 6.8 seconds, but it is 10bhp more and 5kg lighter.,
but early 330ci never get their 0-60 times anyway thanks to their throttle delay.
@Mr84C ---besides a second is can lost by poor reaction, (not directed at you just saying.) and swift gearchange makes a difference although id have to concied that a sport ci gearbox is pretty sweet at whipping down in to second, but you shouldnt really knock the mondeo it does drive well , and what they cost and the equipment levels compared a se bmw, damn good value. mines reliable as fuck, had it four years never had to anything but service and m.o..t and wear and tear stuff tyre brakes.

Don't really care, Ive had a 330 M-sport and now a Mondeo ST TDCi. the BM 325 is pants you should have saved up for a 330 or M3 :-) although the driving was terrible an highly dangerous to others on the road looking at the amount of traffic at the end, not impressed!

Haven't found figures for 325i yet but it's gonna be slower than the 330i, and even the 330i can't beat the st220 after 100mkh. If you work out 100-200kmh the st220 is actually 2 seconds quicker than the 330!

Sure the BMW is a great car i dont deny that. BUT the mondeo is good too, and you cannot compare them based on engine and speed specs. The mondeo st220 is an elegeant luxerious and sporty saloon. The recaro interior is very beatifull and it has great value for the price.

I even wondered with all the hype why anyone would buy an M3 with such performance from a 330. I have driven my brother's 325ci and its great. I love BMWs, my next car will be an M3 hopefully. However the 325 is no match for the ST220, even a 328 isn't enough, a 330i Sport could take it on though. Top car for the money the ST220 - respect!
It's border line really, I mean 231 bhp in the BMW - but sometimes they come out higher - and 220 in the Ford, although they often come out higher too. Handling wise - the most obvious difference is RWD - FWD, however the St220 chassis is so good it copes fine with up to 250hp, the 330 is less sporty, slightly softer - but then RWD is naturally a more stable platform - I dunno, I'd rather have the 330 I have to say, but I respect anyone with an ST220!
The ST220 (226bhp) is lighter by about 4 or 5% though, and front wheel drive, so it leaks out less bhp through transmission losses. I've heard that 0-60 mph goes slightly the BMW's way but the next 60 mph beyond that it goes totally the ST220's way.
But I'd say the 330 in sport form is stiffer and more sporty.
You're right about the minimal transmission loss for the horizontally mounted V6 and gearbox, however the 330 does have about 15 lbft more torque, so we have to take that into accound as well. Some 330's are lighter, depends what options you have. Wouldn't say it goes the Ford's was up the top - I'd say they are about equal. Love to see it though.
I've been lucky enough to see it in real life, my 330-owning friend would never talk about it since (he said the mondeo must have been tuned and maybe it was), but what a shame nobody has a video of this match

uff el st220 tiene 226 cv y es un 3.0 con 6 cilindros en un V.. pero wueno un 325 c.i tiene q dar mucha caña... eso es por q no le saves pisar colega...
efectivamente el st tiene el motor y caballaje que mencionas y el bmw 6 en linea de 2.5l con 192hp, si se corrio bien el bmw de hecho trae transmision steptronic por lo que no ay manera de equivocarse, el st andaba muy duro en alta por eso lo deja.
e tenido el gusto de manejar un fusion v6 y no trae para ninguno de los dos carros a pesar de ser el mismo motor del st. El peso y la transmi automatica no lo dejan desarrollar como deberia.

The ford mondeo ST220 has a 3.0l V6 strapped under the bonnet so it is clearly going to wipe a 2.5l engine. As for the comment about the ST220 getting whipped by a BMW M3 (as both are top of range for their cat's), the M3 has a 4.0l V8 engine and so it should whip the ford! But on the bright side... the ST220 is almost half the price of an M3!
What about the E92 M3, the E46 M3 and the M3 GTR? They have a 4.0l V8 :P Though yes, I admit, the regular M3 has only a slightly larger engine than a 330 -.-

I agree with Samrules888. FWD cars suck! Why are most supercars RWD? Better balance, handling and handle huge power easily. You can keep your cheap ass FWD with its torque steer and understeer!
well neither of these has huge power although the mondeo has more than the bmw, and ok you get wheelspin lower down, but that just makes the 0-60 seem less good than say a 330i with similar power, but mondeo then goes and makes up for it over the next 60mph! believe me i have been there and seen it!
look at the reviews of this mondeo, you won't find any of them slating the handling, they all think it's great for fwd and holds its own against a good rwd

The mondeo has the same engine as a v6 ford fusion (which is fast) and the ford fusion is based off the mazda 6 (which is fast).

Gees... all along i thought nothing could match the 330, judging by the hype here in Southern Africa. Maybe motoring journalists in southern africa are just too BMW loving. I even wondered with all the hype why anyone would buy an M3 with such performance from a 330. I have driven my brother's 325ci and its great. I have driven my sister's Mondeo 2.0 AT and its more comfortable. Qulity slightly higher in the BMW. More car for yr money with lovely Mondeo. Ford FAn

I love BMWs, my next car will be an M3 hopefully. However the 325 is no match for the ST220, even a 328 isn't enough, a 330i Sport could take it on though. Top car for the money the ST220 - respect!

It's border line really, I mean 231 bhp in the BMW - but sometimes they come out higher - and 220 in the Ford, although they often come out higher too. Handling wise - the most obvious difference is RWD - FWD, however the St220 chassis is so good it copes fine with up to 250hp, the 330 is less sporty, slightly softer - but then RWD is naturally a more stable platform - I dunno, I'd rather have the 330 I have to say, but I respect anyone with an ST220!

The ST220 (226bhp) is lighter by about 4 or 5% though, and front wheel drive, so it leaks out less bhp through transmission losses. I've heard that 0-60 mph goes slightly the BMW's way but the next 60 mph beyond that it goes totally the ST220's way.
But I'd say the 330 in sport form is stiffer and more sporty.

You're right about the minimal transmission loss for the horizontally mounted V6 and gearbox, however the 330 does have about 15 lbft more torque, so we have to take that into accound as well. Some 330's are lighter, depends what options you have. Wouldn't say it goes the Ford's was up the top - I'd say they are about equal. Love to see it though.

ya me cansaron todos esos jodidos que dicen que si se quieren matar que si no les importa la demas gente. si estos coches andan a esa velocidad es responsabilidad de las compañias ponerle todos los sistemas de seguridad que traen y por eso es seguro, si anduvieran a alta velocidad en un tsuru por ejemplo entonces sería muy inseguro pero como su motor de licuadora no lo deja pues ni que hacerle aunque de por sí es inseguro el coche aunque no corra así porque ni abs trae.

efectivamente el st tiene el motor y caballaje que mencionas y el bmw 6 en linea de 2.5l con 192hp, si se corrio bien el bmw de hecho trae transmision steptronic por lo que no ay manera de equivocarse, el st andaba muy duro en alta por eso lo deja.

The ford mondeo ST220 has a 3.0l V6 strapped under the bonnet so it is clearly going to wipe a 2.5l engine. As for the comment about the ST220 getting whipped by a BMW M3 (as both are top of range for their cat's), the M3 has a 4.0l V8 engine and so it should whip the ford! But on the bright side... the ST220 is almost half the price of an M3!

well neither of these has huge power although the mondeo has more than the bmw, and ok you get wheelspin lower down, but that just makes the 0-60 seem less good than say a 330i with similar power, but mondeo then goes and makes up for it over the next 60mph! believe me i have been there and seen it!
look at the reviews of this mondeo, you won't find any of them slating the handling, they all think it's great for fwd and holds its own against a good rwd
