SO, Basically at the time the original iPhone was created they could not figure out how to provide good talk time together with 3g speed internet browsing. Talk time and being able to listen to music on the phone is very important on a phone that is designed to do both. Win some lose some. Technology has changed since, now it is more feasible (even if its only a year later) they came up with a good talk time and also ability to enjoy the 3G technology. I CANT WAIT FOR 7/11/2008...

I don't know much about the services the companys they are partnered with but maybe they woudn't benifit from 3G capability if they are not providing it.
