  • Singing "Raining Blood" in a veil. Tori is AWESOME! A very beautifully haunting version of a killer Slayer song! Love Slayer! Love Tori! Both together is a beautiful thing!

  • Fuckin erie...glad my guitar player turned me on to this!

  • Tori Amos is realy slatanic!

  • Honestly I cant understand a word she squaks and the Music doesnt resemble anything from the song... "Trapped in pergatory" thats all i recognized...

  • it sucks... not allot of thought into it...

  • "Beck's bass player [Justin Meldal-Johnsen] suggested I do a cover of Slayer's Raining Blood...I was reading about what was going on in Afghanistan--the way women were being oppressed, the destruction of religious statues. And when I heard that song, I just imagined a huge juicy vagina coming out of the sky, raining blood over all those racist, misogynist fuckers."

-- Tori; Spin Magazine, Oct 2001

  • @avatarmn great imagination...great vision...

  • tori at her best!

  • I was at this show. It was 2001, so it was shortly after 9-11. I felt this was her exorcising the patriarchal regime of the taliban over women. This was so powerful live.

  • 6:11 is the best.

Its like being swallowed into the pits of hell.

Maybe she is swallowing you into the pits of hell lol.

  • watch?v=bx2I0Cvprp4

  • just as, if not more so, evil than the original. Definitely more disturbing. Totally love it. Kudos to tori for doing it & slayer for appreciating it.

  • Bet Slayer cover ever!

  • As a Slayer fan, I like this version just as much as the original. This is just dark and really puts me on edge, where as the original just gets me pumped for a concert and I will always place it as the final song I heard at my first Slayer concert. Either way, I like Tori Amos, and I'll support her music.

  • u're fuckin'right! She did the cover in her on way and she give to the songs a new kinda life...I like Slayer too...MUSIC give..emotions to the people...

    sincerly

    Mr.Rose

  • Tori completely rearranged the song and turn it far more EVIL!

  • slayer said acquittance, tori said acquisition. i wonder ..

  • one of the best covers i've ever heard

  • I'm just glad to hear that the usually inept pop music culture of our society is getting A taste of true musical inspiration, courtesy of Slayer; and Tori Amos's version of "Raining Blood" taken from arguably the greatest Metal album ever written, Slayer's "Reign in Blood". and that's exactly what Slayer accomplishes in this account,as well as all other such related forums, They REIGN!

  • Tori is a genius! I do not know of Slayers music much, but this song is so haunting. The piano composition is incredible!

  • ofcourse slayer liked it, how could they not

  • A true masterpiece...no one will ever match this as a cover. Sonic beauty at it's finest. Love her! \\m//

  • I don't really hear Raining Blood in this, except for the lyrics

  • @IVIALJA use some logic. what gender rains blood every month? there ya go.

  • @spadeinfull Hahaha. Awesome comment

  • @IVIALJA thank you, i try :)

  • @spadeinfull LMFAO Good 1 \m/

  • I am both a fan of Slayer and Tori. Imagine the two versions like Slayer's is fit for the moment of Apocalypse, and Tori's is the echo of that song - now in the moments after the beginning of the decay, in the first moments of hopeless, terrible certainty.

  • Gorgeously scary!!!

  • Cool song, but i cannot sight any trace of the original 'Raining Blood' in this one...

  • This is almost as scary as the original. Great interpretation of one of the greatest metal songs. I wish that all artists playing covers would be as original....Oh and Slayer über alles!

  • I wanna see her costume more clearly cuz it looks totally awesome and creepy. Like Tori, herself!

Also, I heard Kerry King say that it took them a while to even realize what they were hearing.

    Awesome vidya

  • She also did a cover of Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit". This one is a bit hard to recognize at first, but I do like this version; quite creepy, but also heartfelt.

By the way, I am a Slayer fan, and also a Nirvana and Tori Amos fan.

  • I'm a Slayer fan, and a Tori Amos fan...I thought this cover was great! ^_^ Real musicians tend to just love music, and appreciate each other's musical expressions. They don't start armies and war with each other. They just love music.

That's something I would normally think that would not need to be pointed out. Oh yeah. This is earth. Where the morons are kept.

  • A Slayer fan does not have to like this cover of the song, true. But to say that true Slayer fans would blindly hate it is fuckin' goddamn stupid! Slayer themselves liked it (as stated many times before here; they gave her fuckin' t-shirts for God's sake!), so I guess Slayer are not not fans of themselves...

  • That's true. I'm a Slayer fan and I like this version.

  • what a piece of shit!

  • shit

    tori amos sucks

  • Beautifull "remix" by Tori. Impressive.

  • I think the guys of Slayer would be ashamed of their fans after reading these comments.

  • Hahahahahahahahahaha

  • this music is the soundtrack 4 a rainy day in a nazi-kz anno 1943, reflect a wonderful picture of sorrow & sweet decay in my mind.

  • It's different, but I'll take the original any day.

  • holy fucking shit this sucks anus hairs

  • WOW this is terrible. Fuck Tori Amos. Take a awesome song and fuck it to death. Fuck everyone who likes this shit.

    FUCKIN' SLAYER

  • I love here

  • Tori Amos brings me physical pain. Si, I guess this is still BRUTAL!!!

  • i can't figure out what part on the original raining blood she's singing?

  • well, she starts at the beginning... I can't really understand her well enough to know if she goes through the entire song though, or in order... But she most certainly starts at the beginning of it.

  • @lordatramentous She sings the entire song. If you open up the lyrics in a seperate window or tab and just follow along, it's pretty obvious, but trying to listen to her sing them is well-neigh impossible. I really wish she'd sang the song quicker because it seems to actually really suit her fairly well, and the piano work is great. It just needs to be a bit faster because every single word she sings is held for too long.

  • do you listen to slayer?

  • araya should beat the shit out of her

  • lmao

  • Araya land the band liked the cover, in fact, they gave her slayer shirts

  • slayer actually sent her a tshirt for her effort. i think they liked it.

  • K. King and the band said if that song was played they wouldnt know what it is or any of the lyrics unless sombody pointed it out =P

  • weird but good version!!!

  • someone should start a moshpit \m/

  • shes one weird ass chick

  • What the fuck is this???cant understand shit

  • Oh wow.

  • This is the best version of this song live, Tori PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE one day release all your recordings, they are so em effing perfect!!!!!!!!

  • L0L

  • it has nothing to do with raining blood...she just took the lyrics

  • Comment removed

  • wow this is bad

  • I love this, her voice is piercing and stunning.

  • You don't have to say she fucked it up, you can just admit you're not open to other styles of music. Tori covered this in an artistic way. She took the music in another perspective, yes, but the lyrics still bring the same message. It's only the kind of magic she changed. Not seeing the real message in Slayer's song is too bad, because it is in fact, a deep song. Not liking tori amos cover because you don't like her style is totally different from not liking the cover because it's bad. It isn't.

  • dude..i love this style of music...belive it or not...just...a cover should at least stay in its own catagory...its kinda like if a punk rock band cover beethoven...it just doesnt work at all...thats just how i feel....if it wasnt anything metal...id love what she did...but the fact that its one of my fave metal bands....it just ruins it for me

  • thats right dude. ill take that as a qoute

"you can just admit you're not open to other styles of music."

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!she made an awesome song suck...like flyleaf did with smells like teen spirit....and it doesnt even sound like shes singing the lyrics...dumb bitch

  • hahaha Dang! No need to go that far! Simply go on to another video.

  • Comment removed

  • you sir, are the dumb bitch. this is a beautiful rendition of a brutal song

  • shut the fuck up...any TRUE slayer fan would fucking agree with me...fucking twat

  • i love slayer, more than any other band, i also love hawkwind. you! are a closed minded dickhead that things that if its heavy its good., you are so wrong, go and listen to Radiohead and learn what music is all about

  • @theflyingmadcap wow...cause you totaly know me...i love radiohead...and im also a huge nirvana fan...i even listen to beethoven...so why dont you just shut the fuck up...oh...and you are a fag who likes to try and change everyones opinions on everything...we didnt have to start this shit...you choose too...all i said was...this is shitty...cause it is...in my opinion...you dont have to like it...hell i dont have to like yours...but i dont say your wrong...and your a fucktard for having it..

  • your fucking gay a lil bitch

  • Finally I must say she has great talent to deform and cripple songs that much, so you don´t can identify them. Well, it dont want to spam on this video. But in my opinion a cover should sound at least a bit like the original. This cover is for me only putting some lyrics of a well known song with a realy primitive tune together.....even to copy a song requires more skill, especially in a metal way....

  • This cover totally reminds me of what Alanis Morissette did with "My hump" lol.

  • I like Slayer and Raining blood is one of my favorites songs from them. Tori Amos has the balls to grab this song and twisted in an totally different version, simply amazing. I heard Kerry King and Tom Araya liked this version so much that they send Tori some Slayer Tshirts! :) A true artist doing a cover is not to copy it, its make a version of its own and Tori did it, sorry if the slayer fans cant accept it.

  • @Kaneda1972 I'm a huge Slayer fan and I think this is cool. I like how she added her own style to it. I'm surprised anyone would touch such a legendary song, but she took it and made something different out of it.

I will say, however, that I prefer the original. :)

  • @Kaneda1972 we might accept it more if you could use proper grammar.

    neither artist needs a mouthpiece.

  • epic fail.....just a shame

  • i agree super epic fail

  • I don't hear the resemblance. And i gave it a good listen, I don't hear it. Lyrics, the notes, i just don't hear it at ALL.

  • In trying to find the performance I attended during this tour, I found this one. You HAD to be there. This song was one of the highlights for me that night. It crept all over my skin and I could almost swear I wasn't breathing for those 6 minutes.

  • kerry king debe estar queriendo cortarse los huevos en este momento

  • This performance is exhilirating! I would kill to see her on Halloween, you can tell she really enjoys it and incorporates it into the show

  • neither do i, i dont recognise anything even at 3 mins

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE Tori AND Slayer. I've even seen both of them in concert. I was in utter disbelief when I heard that Tori did this cover... imagine my joy when I learned that it was true! =D

I REALLY, REALLy want to see a better view of her in that bizarre looking Halloween costume. It looks so weird from this video. Pure Tori =] God, I love that woman! <3

  • lol some people are terrible at life. Kerry King himself said it was fine to do it and said that it took him about a minute and a half to figure out where she's at, and he's right. When I first listened to it it was around a minute thirty that it clicked.

  • Do you guys not realize that Slayer had to approve this cover if Tori wanted to release it on a CD? Obviously they liked it or else they wouldn't have approved it. So, quit it. Tori brings a new light to this song; it's incredibly dark. I respect her immensely and just because I don't like Slayer's version, I don't feel the need to act like a two year old and shit all over their music.

  • What all you haters don't realize is that a cover is an interpretation of the song done by the artist who chose to cover it. You're supposed to make it your own. And she obviously did that.

  • Fuck you haters

Slayer liked it by the way.

  • sorry slayer! i hope u never see this

  • i am sorry this is horrible.....

Although I really like smells like teen spirit cover

    but this is gay

  • I really wish I could've been at THIS concert!

  • I'm scared... someone hold me!

  • She's really gutsy as an artist and not many would take on the covers she does. As for this choice the lyrics are intense and deeply emotional and she plays that spiritual conflict up really well. Slayer does it boldness and anger, Tori takes it with sadness and reservation for accepting that dark inevitability, and burden that it will carry.

  • Such a strange woman she is. One minute she is doing Eminem covers. The next she is doing Depeche Mode. And now Slayer. Wtf. Do ya thang girl. I ain't hatin' in any way. <3

  • strange little girls was a cover album. aperfectcicle did one, metallica did one, and hell, marilyn manosn has enough tracks to do one.

  • bad taste joke. ignorant metalhead.

  • Well, it wasn't a joke to begin with, i really meant that.

If finding this cover to be totally disrespectful towards the authors, then let me be as ignorant as anyone could be.

And for the record, i'm not a pure metalhead, my musical (yep, thats real music, not garbage) collection include blues, folk, country and many many more styles .... needless to say that Amos is not amongst them. Slayer's music cannot be transended without the skills and mentality needed to give true meaning to their songs

  • Slayer didn't have a problem with Tori Amos doing this song on a concept album she created, covering songs by males in a female perspective. It is not disrespectful towards the authors when you receive permission AND make it your own interpretation. I am a metalhead as well (and listen to Tori Amos) and I can understand if you don't like it but you should at least respect the art put into this music. It's not ignorance, it's closed-minded.

  • Well, Slayer are selling themselves on a large scale, so I don't think the permission is that much granted (personally).

I am all for covers being made that are not complete copies from the originals but this is just a bridge too far. As I mentioned before, the essence from the original is totally vaporised. Yes, the cover IS somewhat scary/moody/haunting, but it doesn't capture the concept of the song. I do respect the courage to take this song to a whole other level, but she failed 100%.

  • first of all, they even commented on the song so, yes, they did grant permission. The only way you fail at a cover is when you try to make it the same and fail miserably. The fact she interpreted the song on such a different level to the point it seems like a new song is actually an example of a very well done cover. You don't have to appreciate this version as much as the original, but at least respect it.

  • Them commenting on the song only results in more sales, remember the music industry is a very very hard bussiness environment. I'm willing to believe they gave their approval but I refuse to acknowledge the fact that Amos made a very well done cover, the essence and beliefs of the song are totally gone.

And, as I mentioned before, I do respect the effort but I will blaspheme this version perpetually.

At least respect my freedom of thought and speech, even if you totally disagree.

  • funny idea.

    pretty boring though.

  • Did that actually happen?

    Hah, that's pretty interesting :)

  • i fell asleep.

    try necrophobic now.

  • She needs more instruments.

  • Funny Story

I just realized that I downloaded her cover of Joe Jackson's "Real Man" mislabled as Raining Blood a few years ago

no wonder why I couldn't tell any similarites between the two...LOL

  • one of the strangest covers of all time

  • This sucks.

  • Nah man, you just ahve no taste in music.

  • I have a taste in music, she's just singing so slow that it gets annoying.

  • Dude that's what Tori Amos does. It's what shes known for

  • ppl who post on youtube fail at life.

    ...oh...wait..

  • She made the song so much more frightening than slayer ever could. I get chills just listening to this. It is very very dark.

  • this is some freaky shit

  • I can hardly recognise it till she sings -'from a lacerated sky'

this is dark and disturbing but well covered for a female vocalist.

  • 'For a female vocalist'

So you think women are less able musically and artistically?

  • i thought it was obvious to everyone by now =D+D+D+D+D

  • she took a fast fucking song, slowed it down by half the speed add in her own element and came out with this. It doesnt feel like a slayer song at all and i love it. SLAYER \m/

  • its way slower than half the speed...

  • That wouldve been awesome if blood rained down on her like it did for Slayer during the Unholy Alliance Tour.

Slayer rules and Tori Amos is great as well.

  • Slayer loved this cover.

  • These comments remind me how gay Slayer fans are, hahaha.

  • These comments remind me how gay Tori Amos fans are

  • Weak comment, Tori Amos is a Slayer fan. All these comments remind me how intolerant people are of other music they don't enjoy

  • i hate when people bash music just cause they don't like it

  • is she heck! she just did it to be cool. like madonna ripping off panter's a new level riff. i cant see her listening to slayer and actually enjoying it at any point in her life. slayer ftw tho

  • She had to listen to it to feel it dude, I'm not into her music that much, but look at the title of the song, I don't think her fans would be to glad to see a title like that. This being said by me, a true EMO (NOT) check my channel !..!

  • they know what to expect with her countless unusual covers. i just dont think she is a FAN.

  • It's not like the lyrics are bad. If you read them, they're as dark and brilliant as music gets. You don't have to be into thrash metal to feel the music.

  • oh im not argueing that the lyrics are bad...in fact they are anthem-like and pretty cool, it suits the music. but i really dont see how someone isnt interested in a genre but still be able to feel the music. in all honesty, the lyrics and what tori did to them totally ruined it in my opinion. so on that basis alone i would truthfully say that she didnt feel the music. im not saying it should have been thrash, but not THIS!

  • I'm just saying she could have read the lyrics and felt the darkness/emotion in them without actually falling in love with pure thrash metal they were used in originally. She by all means maintained the darkness in the song. I wouldn't say she ruined it, but I suppose it's a matter of opinion.

  • i suppose it was how she percieved the lyrics and chose to express it that particular way. but i just dont want anyone to be under the illusion that she did this as way of bonding metal with her style of music....far from it, in fact.

  • LMFAO i get you man

  • This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen or heard.

  • It seems like she just took the lyrics and made a whole different song. Oh well, points for creativity.

  • how is this raining blood btw? it dosnt exactly sound like...... anything....

  • I never realized the dark potential of this cover until now. Scary.

  • Actually, since this was on one of her albums, then Slayer signed off on it...so either they are pussies, or they liked what she was doing. Either way, she's getting paid for it (as are they) and you aren't...so, Bite It.

  • Slayer more like Slay Her right

  • rofl xD

  • Creepy. I prefer the Slayer version.

  • look at his user name^ that's one cool dude

  • I agree. How does trash like that even learn to spell.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow your really fucking macho.

    Even slayer liked it.

  • God hates us all. Tori Amos particularly.

  • No dude, ejaculating during your sleep is actually something you should care about and see a doctor, not yet another chance to glorify your weirdo "i'm-famous-coz-i-was-sorta-raped" queen.

  • interesting.

  • wow thanks a lot tori amos you bitch.

  • fuck tori amos

  • Should've done Angel of Death instead

  • So fucking gay.

Slayer should gangrape her and then sacrifice her to Satan.

  • They should skip straight to the sacrifice. Satan responds best when his offerings are undefiled.

  • Wait, this is Raining Blood? WTF dude???

  • gay

  • Amazing. Best song Dead Can Dance never recorded.

  • wtf lol

    creepy shit

at first i was wtf, i cant hear any lyrics from original but then i realised its all strectched out

Im a thrash man but yeah, this is impressive

  • your a gay man haahah hey dave!
