  • Wayside Chapel does a great job. I live around the corner. Since they have had the injecting rooms, there have been no syringes on the streets of Kings Cross, the place is impecably clean. We are no longer the drugs capital of Australia, that has moved west, and per capita, it is now Canberra. The injecting room saves lives and does not promote heroine. The users are given pastoral care and encouragement to stop using. This is how it works on the streets.

  • The police are bullying low life users, they are not targeting the high flying drug traders. That thuggery makes us angry in Kings Cross. We know who the dealers are. They pay the police. Everyone knows that. Even the Korean grocers. The KX police never question the dealers as they get a cut from them. You can see them taking the money in broad daylight. I will film it and upload it one day. I promise.

  • saintfletcher , thank you for your insight and local knowledge.

The injecting rooms seem to be helping then - that's great. It's a shame the publicity about their success has not been as pronounced as the John Howard inspired crack-down of the late 90's.

If you do film them be very careful because no police officer taking bribes is gonna let you walk away freely if they've just seen you bust them.

They will confiscate your camera saying you used it as an offensive weapon - or worse.
