  • I actually like this one more.

  • They changed it due to muslim critics saying (true fact) that the chants had a verse when translated in english saying "I know their is no god but allah" which 1. Probably piss them off & 2. Took it as an insult.

  • I like this sound though. Personally, the best version IMO is both of them layered on top of each other and synced up.

  • Both are equally good in my opinion. I DO like the original design of the Mirror Shield/Switches/Blocks much better, though.

  • The Fire Temple was more hell than the water temple imo.

  • @gameaddict51 U think dude? i though the water temple was hell! The boss and dark link was fun to fight, but o overall on my first ever time in that place i spend hours trying to crack it, Fire temple i did not like at all, but i love the song (Both versions i might add) but the best temple in my opion is the Shadow Temple, i like its style :P

  • @CrimsonPlauge The Fire walls, the room where you could fall back into the bridge area, the stupid ice dancers, plus it looks like hell. It's pretty annoying. In fact, all the temples imo are except Forest and Spirit.

  • The Fire Temple was not the only to mention ALLAH (God). BTW, you don't say ALLAH like (A-LAH, but EL-LAH) Even Jesus Christ mentioned ALLAH in the Gospels. Don't believe me, read The Gospel of Matthew.

"And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Ela, Ela, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"" (Matthew 27:46)

Please read Mark 10:17-18, among loads of verses making clear that there is no God but God. There is only ONE God.

  • @jbohnoff Too bad there is no god, and religion is ignorance.

  • i like this version more, that chanting makes me shit my pants 0_0

  • I like this version better since it makes you feel like your in a temple thats pretty much a boiling hot furnace instead of some arabian temple. And I think it fits with the creepy almost lonely vibe the temple had.

  • There never was any controversy because the original version was never intended to be released as it was BECAUSE they anticipated controversy :P

Still, the original version sounds amazing.

  • Nice, but we all agree the original is better, should've been included in the remakes.

  • This sounds kind of creepy...lol but it's still awesome! However, I like the original better.(:

  • The chanting version is better.......

  • I think in the PAL Version the blood of Ganon is green, but the chanting and original symbols are still in the game.

  • I miss the original music for the Fire Temple, I had an N64 cartrige for OoT that had the original music for this temple, the star and crescent symbol and Ganon's red blood. . . . I like the original versions of it better, this theme just doesn't really feel like fitting music for a dungeon in the middle of an active volcano!

  • @YoungMagicalLifeform does it really matter?

  • I liked the chanting, it gave more "suspense" to this temple.

  • I personally like this one more, but maybe it's just because I had the version with this song.

Which is weird because my mirror shield still has the star and crescent. Guess there were a few versions.

  • @ButtersGettingHard

Yes, there were 3 main versions for the N64:

Version 1.0- Had Ganons red blood, chanting and the star & crescent's.

Version 1.1- Had a glitch removed/HOWEVER some 1.1 versions had the chanting replaced w/ this theme.

Version 1.2- Had the star and crescent's replaced with new symbols, & chanting completely gone as well as Ganons blood changed from red to green.

The version you had (like mine) was probably either rare or just a mistake (I had the same one).

  • Original version is much better! I wish they could have found a way to maintain the original chanting sound without it being the islamic wording. :/ The high pitched screeching just desn't fit well. :/

  • Creepier than the original!

  • esunviruuuu esunviruuuu es un viruuuuuuUUUUU aaaaaahaaaahaaAAA

  • Finally! Somebody uploaded the right one!

  • I like the original better, but this fits in better with the other tracks in the game.

  • Too similar to the Shadow Temple.

  • Honestly, this theme is better. It matches the other tracks that use this voice, such as temple of time, shadow temple, ect.

  • This version is really cool too, but I'm glad I have the original. =D

  • I hated the old one, those hums were SPOOKY!

  • Happy, Muslims?

  • the shadow temple chanting isn't so bad, but then at 1:15 it's suddenly DISCORDANT

  • And they put this one in the 3ds, son of a cock! >:(

  • @AltronZero They had to. Too many stupid people complained.

  • I will agree that the 1.0 sounds better but its would also make me never enter the Goron temple again!

  • Original is SOOO much better imo...

  • In the different musics, it feels like a different dungeon.

  • i like this one better...

  • Sounds too creepy and too alike to the Shadow Temple :/

Why did people have to bitch about the original? How is it POSSIBLY at ALL disrespectful? Same with the Crescent Moon too. Wtf. Muslims own the moon now?

  • @warlordgorgutz1 It's even better than that, muslims can't claim to get upset about the star and crescent because they're not allowed to have religious imagery. Obviously the people they're afraid of offending is.. basically everyone else, who sees that and thinks .. crazy things.. of course, officially it's the symbol of the ottoman empire, and for the record those people WERE monsters.

  • @warlordgorgutz1 Nobody said anything to nintendo. they just removed the stuff out of respect. We all know how careful and respectful the Japanese are. They also changed the color of the blood Ganondorf spits, this to make lower rating.

  • @snake1mi I highly doubt that, but seeing as you or I have no evidence to support either side of the potential argument and I don't even have the will to try to fight your comment, I'll just say "Okay."

  • @warlordgorgutz1 muslims can go fuck off.

  • @warlordgorgutz1 I've always liked this one better I have to say, it has this chilling ambience and it just makes you think of Zelda and that magical land Hyrule! The original reminds me too much of real life and real people It just doesn't sit right with me.

But you're spot on about the crescent moon thing! A good point that made me laugh!

  • @Rinweapon I though it was more chilling for it to be filled with chanting. Makes you wonder, "What could be going on in this temple?" And when you find out later that Volvagia was eating the Gorons...pretty messed up if you ask me.

  • @warlordgorgutz1 Arabs have some of the weakest minds in the world... I dont usually generalize cuz its racism... But in my personal experience, it's true for every arab I met...

  • @warlordgorgutz1 NO ONE bitched about ANYTHING. Nintendo removed it because of the fact that it MIGHT have caused controversy, something they'd rather avoid.

  • I like both versions just as much as each other. The old one is creepy, and really adds the atmosphere to the Fire Temple. However, this version has some nice harmonizing voices over the top which make it very nice to listen to.

  • I wish I had the chanting. :/

  • My cart has the original chanting one, although I haven't played it in quite a while, I remember because when I was playing it with my cousin, we would start laughing every time the chants rose up because it sounded like a choir of braindead people mumbling.

  • i love the 3ds version! This does creep me out though (in a cool, amazingly spectacular way!) XD

  • @Sokairix ain't really a 3ds version, it was first introduced on N64 Zelda, in the version 1.2 cartridge ( the later and most common version distributed)

  • @Hirotoro4692

Ocarina Of Time on the Zelda: Collector's Edition disc for GameCube used this version for the fire temple. Personally, I liked the chanting better, and I play the GC version.

  • i have the chant version on mine. yay

  • Grey carts, Gamecube, Virtual Console and now the 3DS I can confirm have this version of the song

  • Sensitive Muslims...

  • @SonicWinds The Muslims had nothing to do with the song being changed

  • @SonicWinds it was NOT the muslims being sensitive which had the song (fire temple music) changed.

go to zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Temple_(Ocarina_of_Time) and scroll down to the 'controversy' section. it was later found out that the un-chanted version of the song was designed before the game was ever released, perhaps to avoid possible controversy in the future.

  • Comment removed

  • @Hirotoro4692 It is more likely that the modern Fire Temple Music was originally Beta Music, and after the complains about the Chanting Version it was put back as main version.

  • This one is so boring GORON MUSLIM CHANTS FTW!

  • this is the one i grew up with and personally i like it better

  • Odd..I remember having both this and the chanting one when I played...though it may be due to me playing both the gamecube and n64 version

  • @XxBakerxX72 it's the Shadow Temple

  • OH GOD THIS IS EVEN CREEPIER WITH HEADPHONES, HOLY FUCK

  • can some please tell me why people are saying version 1.0 and 1.2 and 1.1? were there different versions of this game? it would be great if someone would answer this. and if there were different versions of the game what are the differences? it cant just be the music

  • @Jarshwin the "different versions of the game is the music of the temple of fire, because the original have chantings from islam, the change is in the version 1.2 the other change is the ganondorf´s blood in 1.0 is red and in 1.1 and 1.2 is green, and the last change is in the game cube collector edicion, the gerudo symbol is diferent. the original version no have changes, the music of temple of fire, ganondorf´s blood an the gerudo symbol is the original,

  • @Jarshwin and sorry for my english is too basic, i speak spanish, but i live in cancun, mexico, so i have de need for speak english

  • Think someone could splice together 1.0 and 1.2? That would be interesting...

  • I'm curious witch one will make it into OoT 3D

  • chances are this one,and if it is,i'll be glad

  • @GreenKingOfLions This is the one in OoT3ds. I saw leaked gameplay of it.

  • @Lishy1 PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SEND ME A LINK! I NEED TO CONFIRM THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!! PLEASE!!

  • Sorry, I cannot find the video anymore :(

But a lot of french people seem to have it early, so maybe you can find one of their playthroughs. Just trust me on this.

  • @Lishy1 Awww man, hope its not true, i really love the chant version...its what makes the fire temple for me :(

  • @Plektruma

well...okay guess I just jumped to insane conclusions...

you know screw the controversy this track is still rather creepy lol.

  • should have never changed it...should have just told those racists crying racism to fuck off and die.

  • i like this one better cause its more zelda-like . . . . . and its the one i played through with

  • Its preatty creepy how the bass is playing over the chanting parts

  • Wow with headphones if you listen really closely you can sorta hear the islamic chanting still. Neat.

  • @OrdonianGamer I can't. I think you imagine you hear them. I also got that. If you think about the original version, you hear the chanting. :-P

  • @KoploperMau They've changed the chanting into part of the song, so you can still hear it, you just can't hear the wooorrrddsss xD

  • this reminds me of stone temple in majors mask

  • this version sucks.

  • Ah, this is the version of the song on the Gamecube, which is what I have.

  • I like this one and the original, this one sounds creepy, the hums sorta remind me of Silent Hill

  • I don't really like this version... I don't know it doesn't really fit the fire temple to me. I prefer the other because it gave a completely different and more fitting (to me) feel. The weird screaming/whining is annoying (again, to me). Maybe if they kept the deeper bass-like chant it would've been better... but not as good as the original.

    Thats just my opinion anyway.

  • someone knows how i can upload this version, please?

  • 9 people forgot to put on the red tunic

  • @Bluepikachu7 how ironic you have nine people who like your post

  • @BKerve5894

Haha yeah, but now I have twelve, which completely throws off the irony. But who cares? This is kickass music!!!!!

  • @Bluepikachu7 awesome dude just awesome!

  • @Grikkle Awesome about what? Uh, was it the fact that I think this music is kickass?

  • @Bluepikachu7

You can do this without the red tunic, I almost managed it with only 3 hearts (the less hearts you have, the less time you can survive without the tunic), and I have done the water temple with 3 hearts without the blue tunic.

  • @satan915 OOh, nice, but can you do that in master quest? double damage, mirrored.

  • @Bluepikachu7

I don't have master quest but I'm pretty sure I could do those temples as long as I am still getting 24 seconds with 3 hearts under water or in hot rooms (if your saying double damage also only gives you 12 seconds with 3 hearts, I might have to get more bottles and stock up on fairies) and the mirrored would just take some getting used to.

  • @satan915 No, it's still 24 seconds, and the puzzles are a ton harder. I'm sure you'll have trouble. It's in the Ocarina of Time 3DS game. It comes with master quest.

  • @Bluepikachu7

Psh 3DS I'm sure I'll have trouble just getting used to the controls for that game on a 3DS but none of the puzzles are that hard (and I've already memorized them all so if it's just a build on the old puzzles it'll just take some more time) normally and video game puzzles are usually easy I'm sure I'd figure it out and then its just a matter of how good I am at facing the monsters.

  • @satan915 Acually, on the 3DS it's completely remastered with MUCH better controls, in my opinion. Oh, and don't get too cocky.

  • @Bluepikachu7

Ok I've finally gotten the urge to buy a 3ds and Oot 3DS. Now that I've gotten used to it the controls are about as good as the N64 but sometimes my thumb keeps slipping off the analog stick when I have to hold it. I completed the master quest now. I gotta admit there were a ton of surprises and I had to use a walk through for ONE little part (a crystal eye switch barely visible "if you were looking" IN the eye of a shadow fiend picture... really nintendo?). MQ is weird lol.

  • @Bluepikachu7

Continuation, from MQ is weird: I half expected to fight previous bosses as enemies/minibosses lol. Anyways I WAS able to beat the fire and water temples without ever using the blue or red tunics in 3DS master quest (and the fire room in Ganon's Castle) but I had more than 3 hearts. At the easiest it's probably barely possible in the fire temple with 3 hearts & no fairies just to be fair.

So now I'm going to try a 3 heart run of MQ which should keep me busy for a little at least.

  • @Bluepikachu7 The temple can beat wiotuh the red tunic XD

  • @megamanolo34 I know, it's just, it's a pain in the ass for a lot of people. How about this:

10 people fell down from the 5th floor and burned their asses!

  • @Bluepikachu7 Yeh,I did it witouth red tunic, was a total pain of brain and all..if you comit a error all be lost -_-.

  • @megamanolo34

Oh yeah and if you thought it was hard, try doing it with 3 hearts max and no fairies (except when you get to the boss use at most 2-3 fairies) and the water temple without the blue tunic is easier (besides that one room underwater where you had to kill several enemies I had to use 1 fairy) but you should still try it. Also try doing it in the Fire Room in Gannon's Castle (you might need a fairy).

  • @megamanolo34

Hey that's kind of what me and him have been going on about!? Read before you post.

  • 9 people have no taste in really good music! (Hope this didn't offend anybody. . .)

  • This music is out of place in the Fire Temple. It belongs in the Shadow Temple because the high-pitched whining makes it sound undead like. This has no business being in the Fire Temple. The chanting version is the superior version because it fits the Fire Temple more and has more epicness to it...

  • It's just. . . not the same. I can't imagine playing it with this. . . it sound so fake and rushed );

  • I prefer this version, for two reasons:

1: It's the version I grew up with.

2: It just sounds more Zelda-like.

  • I wish the original music was still played. Even though it scares me o___o It doesnt seem the same without it. And can anyone tell me.. did they really take the part out where gannon spits blood? Just curious. :/

  • @XXSillyKatieXX Yeah. Just look online you can find the original collectors version for like 25 bucks.

  • @XXSillyKatieXX

Yes, they did. Instead of blood, it's this weird green stuff. =/

  • @MandLhatemileycyrus Thats retarded. But thanks for telling me.

  • i never even knew this version existed, ive been playing zelda with the original chanting and never thought anything of it till i tried to listen to the song just now. thats crazy that they had to change it.

  • Personally, I liked the old one better, but that's just because I'm very 'meh' over voices that sound blatantly synthed in, and the other one sounds like real people. I'm actually surprised there was an outburst over the first, since it's not like you can make out any words. I also wouldn't immedeately jump to "islam" when I hear it either.

  • @grayharlequin

"Allah hu Akbar" You can clearly hear that in the chanting. And so what if you can? I can't believe people honestly got offended... A prayer is being used in a Zelda game. I'd be freaken overjoyed if Nintendo used a Catholic prayer or reference... People just need to stop getting their panties in a bunch over video game music.

  • @JenovaMember NOA had a pretty strict policy regarding religious references back then.

  • Frankly, I prefer this version. The other version just sounds... creepy. I'm not intending to offend any Muslims here, but the context and background music that Nintendo set the "chanting" to just makes it sound so disconcerting to me. My cousin had a version of the game with the original music, and I was always afraid of the Fire Temple when I was young because the music freaked me out. I was so relieved when I got my copy of the game and it had the new music.

  • This theme is just better.

  • This is the one I heard when playing the game :|

  • This version ruined the Fire Temple for me.

  • i vastly prefer this version, i just found the chanting annoying, when i was a kid i muted the fire temple because i couldnt stand the looped chanting. :S

  • i prefer this one, just seems to fit better.

might be because i had this version as a kid though, who knows.

  • Nintendo was probably afraid of getting beheaded or suicide bombed...

  • to be honest i had the changed version and prefered it over the chant one.

  • Whoever had the 1.0 cart tends to like that version better, and whoever had the 1.2 cart feels the same. I personally like the previous better. This, to me, just doesn't mesh quite well enough for me to like it better than the chanting. The original had a sort of awe-inspiring, reverent feel to it, as if it really was a temple, while this one just sort of sounds not as sacred or reverent.

  • it's strange, my version had this changed(for the better imho)music but the mirror shield was the origional style with the crescent moon and star

  • I heard this version first, and to me its 110% better

  • btw the previous version is not a "chant",

it's more of a looping to prayer calling

  • [FACT]

All cartridge versions, whether it had the chants or not, were created at the same time (1998).

    [QUESTION]

Why does some versions have it, while others do not.

  • @Awezumi so you think they made 7.6 million copies in 1998? i doubt it

in the first month they sold 837,000 copies. back then, that was practically unheard of, so they wouldn't have made that many more copies for launch.

also version 1.0 was only available in Japan(November) and North America(November), 1.0 was never sold in europe where was released like two weeks later.

  • @TheRichPoorMan

Completion date reads 1998, with the same date regardless of version; I'm just passing on what GameTrailers have investigated.

  • Stop bitching about it everyone! If you want the game with the shit! Go find a N64 with the game.

  • I am just glad i have the original version with the original song in it so i can sing along all day.

im sorry if it offends some people but i like the song and it is not my intention to offend anyone with the song. AND STOP FUCKING WITH MY GAMES.

they took out turbans out of any of the future Hit man games because "groups" complained that it offended them.

next thing you know Mario has to change his voice because he is a stereotypical Italian plumber.

  • @IcomeINpeaceisim Nah that will never happen. If people are offended by Mario's voice, then they should have said so 16 years ago.

  • I have the muslim chanting cartridge, gotta say this one took off all the mystic in the temple :/

  • what puzzles me about this music is while my cartridge has this revision of the music, my mirror shield is untouched. the version i have is sposed to not have the changes done but the music is this song rather than the chanting one.

i guess thats some solid proof that nintendo made the music change before anyone complained about it

  • Fact is; The game that is on the 1.2 cartridges was made at the same time as those on the earlier versions and still had the chants, there was no outcry because they were all made at the same time, question is... why do some regions and versions have it while the others do not.

  • Why this music reminds me of Metroid Prime-music? :S

  • eeeeuuuuhh EEEEEUUUUHHh eeeeeeuuuuhhhhh EEEEEUUUUHHHHHH

Way better than any Islamic chant.

  • i like this version better anyway

  • I'm so glad when I got the game it still had the religious banter, I think it made the temple.

I didn't even know there was a different version until a couple days ago.

This one just doesn't sound right.

  • -wit- Really? You don't own the Legend of Zelda? You should it's a great game (;D)

  • I guess I don't have the 1.2 version. :D

    Now to check Ganon's blood...

  • I've never even heard this version...I thought the other one made the Fire Temple a lot more intense.

This sounds like a Shadow Temple theme mash-up...blergh.

  • Nintendo should have never released the first one so that we never knew of its existence. However now that we know the original was superior it's hard to accept the change. I'm glad I bought this game early as I have version 1.0 ergo, I have the original design (although containing quite a few glitches). And knowing now that there is no way to get the original in any other form since even the VC version on the Wii is Version 1.2, I have to keep my N64 just for this game.

  • Personally I don't care about the muezzin one, I think this one is a lot scarier.

And maybe because my childhood is stuck to this one too...

  • The original is better than this. The original chanting actually fits the temple.

  • This is the version I had, I like this more than the 'chant' version though, kinda glad they had to remove the first one.

  • hmmm, I grew up with the first version so this version seems very odd. It sounds like they took sounds from the shadow temple (in fact I'm pretty sure that's what they did) I don't mind if it's different in the 3DS version since a lot of things will change, I'm just glad I have the very first unedited cartage I can still stick in and play.

  • so they just replaced the islamic chants with crappy midi quality strings... at least they could have redo the entire song

  • This was pre-ESRB. They also changed other aspects of the game, like the crescent moon/star blocks (and Mirror Shield design). Ganondorf's blood turns to green vomit, and other minor changes.

With ESRB, Nintendo was able to get a game rated, and include racier elements. They started by co-developing "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem" with Silicon Knights. Play that game, and Zelda looks like Teletubbies.

  • @DillPickleet Which game did they change the design for? The version of ocarina I played was the one with the second version of Fire Temple (I only know now it had a previous version), but the symbols on floor switches and mirror shield were indeed the crescent moon and the star (an inspiration for sketches of mine btw). are you talking about Majora's Mask, were the symbol on switches was that mask?

  • @swrutra Sorry, I should have been more clear. They made the Shield and Block change in a third or fourth update for the game. The only way you could get this is buying a new cartrige, a Game Cube version, or buying it from Wii Marketplace.

  • @DillPickleet Ah, I see, thanks for making it clear. Other than that, guess you're other huge Zelda fan, right? It's curious how I see discussions about games being a way of free speech or whatsoever. In my opinion, games simply are not culture, they are made so that every culture can enjoy them. Not being culture doesn't mean they are not good, and Ocarina of Time is the game of my childhood.

  • I really like this temple's music. It fits the temple well. Come to think of it, all of the temple themes fit their temples really well.

  • I like this one better=)

  • I don't care if they changed it, I got it when it came out and had the original engraved in my brain. This one SUCKS lol

  • this is the most freakin creepy song i have ever heard in a video game. seriously

  • Seriously, people need to stop acting as if this version ruined the game. It's just a small change compared to the entire fucking game! Get over it bitches!

  • Why do so many people hate this version? I actually think the chanting in this version fits better with the fire temple since it has more of a fire-like feel to it. The original chanting is good too but it seems to fit more with the Gerudo culture than it does with the Goron culture.

  • I like this one better, the other one scared the heeby jeevies out of me as a kid.

  • I myself am glad for the change, mostly for the fact that I just enjoy this version more. My version of OoT had this music and it's the only one I knew as a kid.

  • i sorta like this one better, especially since this is something you'd actually expect to hear from a Zelda game

  • the music from zelda really adds soo much to what is already such a great game,, Zelda= best video game franchise ever!!

  • I love the pics for this megabrain, where did you get them?

  • this version is gay. This just sounds like beginning of the fire temple music combined with the Creepy Shadow Temple music. I like how every temple had it's own distinct song, but now the Fire Temple doesn't have it's own distinct song :( I am so glad i have the original game -__-

  • original music was so much better. So glad I have the old cartridge.
