Not only was the collection impressive, but the knives you spoke of that have seen combat and the fixed blade that was pulled out of your friends leg gave me goosebumps. would the blood groove on the cut down bayonet work effectively?

@billymayer1000 I'm not sure any blood grooves are effective at all. They were originally called fullers. Some companies added them to cut down on the amount of steel used to make a knife, and sometimes they were used to stiffen a blade. If you think about it, if you stab someone, you do not usually leave the blade there, so a blood groove would not have a chance to work. Even if you did, tissue and skin are pliable so they would still be an obsticle for a blood groove to work. Just my thoughts

@GunznGear It was my understanding that blood grooves make it easier to overcome the suction force when trying to pull a blade out of someone. I was thinking blood grooves work by the grooved section of the blade being having smaller area than the stab hole, causing less suction when pulling the blade out, but it appears that the cut down ones have the groove all the way to the tip end of the blade, and wouldn't work?

@billymayer1000 That may very well be true. I relayed what I've been told before, and I'm certain the some knives may have different reasons for fullers/blood grooves. Actually it would seem that a blood groove would create suction, but I'm guessing. While I do know some of the dialogue surrounding blood groves and fullers, I certainly do not have knowledge on blood grooves as it relates to suction. Sorry
