  • a nice song

  • So many haters on here.... all bcoz rafi was muslim......

  • @kamscall Well you should see the hate from the muslims when Rafi sings a Bhajan.I remember fanatic muslims came to the streets protesting when Rafi Saab released a non film Bhajan Album, at least these people never did that or resorted to any other extreme measure .Sir Hate is a two way street , I love Rafi and all artists from the Golden era but the hate you mentioned is the result of something greater, mend that cause and this hate will disappear automatically without any effort.

  • A very good song from a very good movie, all the songs composed by Dada were too good.Performances were superbly executed by all,Dev Saab,Suchitra Sen,Dhumal,Nazir Husain,Rashid Khan.Last scene is unforgettable,SS as a bride bidding good bye to a sad Dev Saab, & in background the song 'Chal ri sajni',enhances the mood.

  • R I P Raju Guide

  • THERE WERE MILLIONS OF rAFI AND lATA IN iNDIA BUT THEY WERE NEVER GIVEN THE CHANCES TO SING.REMEMEBER RAFI A VICTIM OF ISLAM, NOT A REAL MUSLIM. HAD TO RELY ON OTHER CULTURE TO BE A SINGER.

  • Indian cinema has the 'star' system where a cult like following is created by ensuring that other singers are suppressed to ensure stardom of one person for the express purpose of making more money for the industry as a whole. This is a strategy that has worked for Hollywood a well as Bollywood and other woods. There were many singers as good as Rafi, who we all agree was a good singer.

  • RafiJi is no doubt Great, but I wonder why nobody thinks about the sheer genius of Sachin Dev Burman..I agree there will never be another Rafi and would like to add that there will never be another Music Composer as great as S.D.Burman...

  • :) no words

  • GOOD SONG INDEED

  • GREAT MUSIC, HEAVENLY SINGING.

  • Top lyrics, top music, and the divine voice of the King Rafi Sahab.

Can not rememember since when I have remembered this song.

  • MOHAMMAD RAFI IS GOD OF SINGING.....NO COMPARE.......LOVE YOU RAFI SAHAB

  • its true there wouldnt be any one like Rafi he was great and greatest

  • The most handsome Dev Anand, the greatest singer Rahi saheb what a combination

  • There is no divide like Bengalis etc here . The songs were composed and given to great singers of the time that is all.

  • I love Mohammed Rafi Sahib's voice and in my eyes he was the greatest thing what could happen to India. No one can ever take his place in the indian music industry, he was the King in all kind of songs. This song was written by Majrooh Sultanpuri, music S. D. Burman who appreciated working with Mohammed Rafi Sahib. Khushy 100.

  • India will never produce a singer like Rafi, he was provided with a divine melodies.

  • That's a very wrong way to say it. You are implying that only India will never produce a singer like Rafi. That's narrow thinking. You should say that there will not be a singer like Rafi in this world.

  • Yes you are right.

  • @gunchibaiyya

    Man wow!!!

It touched me!! Kya bata kahi hai..... Very apt n concise....

    Awesome.....

First person i have seen to have said it and thats you...

    Salute to you bro...

Your these words are going on my FB status...

  • Somebody said something to that effect a long time ago. We wait for people to die and then we worship them.

In his last years of his life Mohammed Rafi was dejected by the music directors of that time. The two famous music directors that come to mind is R.D. Burman and Bappi Lahari.

They used Kishore Kumar exclusively and the rest of the Mumbai film industry crowd followed.

May he rest in peace as he has given to us a depository of quality vocal music.

  • sir every one has his time, when 50 s and 60s was Rafi's era far far dominent on kishore and others. Rafi was favourite of the Legend naushad, shanker jaikishan,o.p nayyar, c.ramchandra. those composer never liked kishore. so what if the trivial composers like u have mentioned didnt use him. do u think Bappi or whatever is a composer.....no way. Rafi had has his time when he was need of every composer even R.D.Burman had no choice but to use his voice.

  • @asifsongs

I have read somewhere that C Ramachandra did not like Rafi. I wonder if he used him at all, as he as Chitalkar. Also other MDs who did not like Rafi are Anil Biswas, Salil Chowdry and RD Burman. Wonder if Rafi being a muslim had anything to do with it?

  • @ChrisLawNZ

He has used him in lot of Movie as Saqi, nadyya key par, albela and many more but suppose he didn't like Rafi still he had no choice but to use Rafi's phonomenal telent in order to make his songs super hit. The MDs you have mentioned might have not liked rafi because he was no1 choice of the music god Naushad and we all know these MDs had have problem with Naushad. Similarly rafi was 1st choice of husnlal bhaghtram, S.D burman,o.p nayyar and many more.

  • @ChrisLawNZ

Remember when some one touches peak in any art, he create a lot of critics and potential enemies in that field automatically. So no wonder if Rafi has got some had these people who didn't Like him because he was muslim or most famous or 1st chioce of top musicians

  • @ChrisLawNZ -Rafi Saab was was very good Person,I too dont like his songs much, but being a muslim or anyone does not change any indvidual personality, and if this is so it is wrong,i know many good muslims who are gentlemen,I would like to say that i am hindu and a stuanch Brahmin

  • @asifsongs

I Feel MDs and producers who initially promoted Kishore were mostly Bengalis?

Also MDs who did not like Rafi too were Bengalis - Anil Biswas, RD Burman, Salil Chowdry and Bappi (or is he not?)

Don't get me wrong - I think Bengalis contributed hugely to Hindi cinema in the fields of acting, music and Direction. So too did the muslims specially those who came from Pakistan side pre partition, mostly Punjab. To all thsi we are eternally greatful.

  • @asifsongs Even the present generation is appreciating Rafi apart from most of the present day (non) music directors.

  • he is the best ...marhoom sahib...we all love him and owe him a lot...

  • A great song by S. D. Burman. Rafi sings in such low keys that everybody can sing with him. Perhaps this is the reason so many people like the music of the early years.

  • not only dat the words and the lyrics had depth...unlike today's crap music..baby touch me zara ..baby zara gaand marle etc crap...u expect to sing along with dat crap??
