So easy people forget in Jan 97 a little boy had his ear bitten off by a Dalmatian. It was on the news all over the US. I remember a school mate walking 2 school and a Dalmatian attacked her on the sidewalk. A bystander carried her right past me in 2 the school. I was attacked by 2 dogs as a child and yet I love them. I had the privilege of having a Pit bull as a child. I also have a Pit now that I am an adult and mom, my doter has a Pit puppy. Having our Pit's help 2 make our family complete.

When ever I get my American Pit Bull Terrier it will be calm-submissive and very well trained so that I can take the dog everywhere. I may even make him or her a therapy dog and a service dog so a really could take the dog everywhere.

dog parks a good way to make any dog more aggressive because you can't count on OTHER owners to control their dogs. it only takes one bad experience to turn a loving dog of any kind into a fear based aggressor. i take the pittie and the shep at times when there is no one there for exercise. socialization is done under more controlled conditions.

@gacktfan Actually I am well educated on the breed but the name of the breed doesn’t matter. It’s just a name. No dog is born aggressive. If you train, socialize, and give them regular exercise there will be few problems but all the training in the world can mean nothing if the owner is not the leader of their pack.
@gacktfan When a trained dog meets a new dog they will often mirror the non-trained dog’s behavior. You may have problems with nipping but it’s your job to stop your dog before a fight breaks out. Apparently you can’t read the signs. I can. I’ll admit my dog has attempted to go after another dog but I know how to read her body language and stop her from giving of the “I want to kill you vibes”

@vileoneful If you know your dog well enough you can see way in advance if there is going to be a problem. I have been taking my dog, Juno to the dog park since she was 13 weeks old. First year about twice a day every day. She is awesome with other dogs. She has had dogs that want to give her trouble, but I take care of it. She knows she has me to keep her safe. Pits will back down from a fight if they are confident you will take care of the situation.
i was there with my 2 pits and they where running around till a lady came with 5 dogs and 3 of her dogs start barking at my girl (pitt) and try to bite her. so she got one dog. well it did not end good for that dog, i say they asked for it. my dogs where ok, but that other dog learnd its lesson

When ever I get my American Pit Bull Terrier it will be calm-submissive and very well trained so that I can take the dog everywhere. I may even make him or her a therapy dog and a service dog so a really could take the dog everywhere.

But get him by another dog,and he will snap at it. He's been trained to ignore them,but if they start shit,it's game on.

@gacktfan see thats where u r wrong unlike most pit bull owners who dont know how to raise a dog, like u mainly because u dont know ur dog that well apparently, i raise and train pits and every type of dog there is im a dog trainer. i train my dogs very well and i take my dog to dog parks and everywhere that has dogs and people. see if u dont train ur dog to be around other dogs then they will go after other dogs, DUH! train them to be around other dogs and nothing will happen, TBC

@gacktfan i had people be afraid of my pits untill i told them that nothings going to happen and i let them pet my pits after that they were amazed, they thought that all pits were mean, i told them its how u raise them every dog is able to byte. now i take it u let ur pit sit around the yard all day right? or u walk him/her with a muzzle right? i bet u dont let it get around any other dogs do u? thats where u making a big mistake at, not letting it play with other dogs. do u even walk ur dogs?

@gacktfan unlike u i know how to control my dogs, when i walk my pits i dont need a leash at all they walk right next to me and will not go no where else without my say so, they stay in my sights at all times, and obeys my every command to the dot, and every time another dog comes around all they do is just look at them and want to play, i tell them to sit and they sit wile the other dogs go by, i do that to see what the other dogs going to do.

@gacktfan i also studied pits behavior, and i know more about pits than most people now about their own bodies. i been raising pits for all my life and i raise wolves. do u even have a pit bull? or do u have one of those toy dogs every body thinks a fashion statement? u dont know pits truly so if i were u ill leave knowledge of pits to the people who actually knows about pits ok. and please dont say u know all about pits because someone who says pits shouldnt go to a dog park obviously dont

@gacktfan o my gosh u r a dumb ass, if i knew about pits i would know about crate training? dude i leave my pits in the house together because they r well trained u dumb ass, i know a hell alot more than u will ever know about pits i trained pits all my life u dumb ass. and crate training is for owners who dont know how to train a dog at all, when i leave my dogs in the house they dont use the restroom until i get home, they dont fight, and they dont chew on anything other than their toys.

dog parks a good way to make any dog more aggressive because you can't count on OTHER owners to control their dogs. it only takes one bad experience to turn a loving dog of any kind into a fear based aggressor. i take the pittie and the shep at times when there is no one there for exercise. socialization is done under more controlled conditions.

@myparadog my dog is sitting by my side and someone else dog charges it. he never budges, even without a command. when this dog rams my dog hard enough to break his rib and he turns around to defend himself but was called off...who do you think got blamed? where was my dog's human? stepping in front of the charging dog. where's was the other dog's human? gabbing on the cell phone, back turned, missed the whole thing until there was a yelp. it's not worth the risk of ignorance

@gacktfan Actually I am well educated on the breed but the name of the breed doesn’t matter. It’s just a name. No dog is born aggressive. If you train, socialize, and give them regular exercise there will be few problems but all the training in the world can mean nothing if the owner is not the leader of their pack.

@gacktfan When a trained dog meets a new dog they will often mirror the non-trained dog’s behavior. You may have problems with nipping but it’s your job to stop your dog before a fight breaks out. Apparently you can’t read the signs. I can. I’ll admit my dog has attempted to go after another dog but I know how to read her body language and stop her from giving of the “I want to kill you vibes”

@gacktfan She’s never been in an actual fight because I can stop it before it gets to that level. Even if it were to get to that level I know how to break it up. If you’re going to have a strong breed you should know how to handle it. But thank you for your concern.

good video but reading some of the comments here it disturbs me that people take there pits to dog parks,every responsible owner that knows the breed knows a dog park is not the place these dogs should be.I have 2 pits and i know the background of the breed and #1 rule is never take a pit to a park.Pits will never ever back down from a fight which is bad because then you will have the dog taken from you,no if ands or buts,this makes the news so guys need to keep them guys out of the dog parks.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT...dog training 101 dog socialization, my staffy is well socialized with other dogs and does not have dog aggression problems...pits and staffys will play rough with other dogs, but they will play not FIGHT..."pits will never ever back down from a fight" Mine will because i'll tell her too...dogs need to be trained and you need to be the master of your dog...YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RULES # 1 PROBLEM FOR THESE DOGS ARE OWNERS LIKE YOU.

@staffyally My pit is alright with other dogs but wont back down if another dog starts shit she has drawn blood so I supervise her around animals. She is a older puppy has a puppy friend shiba inu and I take her to the dog park. So cant agree more pits are the BEST!!!

@vileoneful If you know your dog well enough you can see way in advance if there is going to be a problem. I have been taking my dog, Juno to the dog park since she was 13 weeks old. First year about twice a day every day. She is awesome with other dogs. She has had dogs that want to give her trouble, but I take care of it. She knows she has me to keep her safe. Pits will back down from a fight if they are confident you will take care of the situation.

i dont like dog parks had bad time there.
i was there with my 2 pits and they where running around till a lady came with 5 dogs and 3 of her dogs start barking at my girl (pitt) and try to bite her. so she got one dog. well it did not end good for that dog, i say they asked for it. my dogs where ok, but that other dog learnd its lesson

It's so funny that they mentioned Dachshunds! Whenever I take my two pits to the park, it's always the Dachshunds that try to bite my pits! And on one occasion, my pit killed the Dachshund! By licking it to death! LMAO! I bet many of you thought it really did kill another dog! Just like Sandra Sartorius said, "You can't change people's minds." In every attack, where were the owners? Why wasn't the dog socialized or on a leash? There are no bad dogs just bad owners!

Fact: Opposite of what some people falsely believe about a pit bulls temperament, Pit bulls pass the Temperament Test (ATTS) at almost the exact same percentage rate as Golden Retrievers, 83.5% for Pits and 83.7% for Goldens. They are one of the top breeds in passing the Temperament Test year after year. Border Collies pass at 79%, Chihauhas at 71%, and Daschunds (smooth coat, long hair) at a measly 66%! Pit bulls are the most loving dogs you could imagine! Im a responsible dog owner, and own two pit bulls. I am also a member of a pit bull meet up group. ALL the pit bulls in our group are safe and havent bitten anyone ever! When a stranger approaches my yard, all my dogs want to do is lick them and be affectionate! Because this breed is good natured and has a loving temperment, they do not make good guard dogs! Pit bulls were not bred to attack people!

He actually does own an APBT and is very much in tune with EVERYTHING thats involved with the breed. I've learned a lot from him.
All he's basically saying about dog parks is that dog parks are dangerous because you the owner don't know anything about the other dogs in there and how your dog will react in certain situations.
