If so, you're aware that women often choose men for reasons other than their appearance, which is what I think you were getting at. People, women and men, are attracted to all sorts of things, and "bad" characteristics can cancel out "good" ones. It's about the whole package, not just one thing.

It could be his sense of humor, his looks, his income, his honesty, his intelligence, etc. In any event, intelligence is subjective. There are people who think William Lane Craig is intelligent. I think he's a moron. I think Christopher Hitchens was intelligent, but disagreed with his politics, which is important to me. There are so many variables...

@tankusfred A fatwah is basically a ruling on any issue by an islamic cleric, it can be on absolutely any subject from appropriate clothing for shopping in a mall to honor killings.

In Rushdie's case, as with many cases where islam feels insulted, the ruling was a death sentence to be carried out by any capable muslim.

@tankusfred fatwah can be summed as qualified opinion in regards to religious doctrines (islam). Its a statement an expert can make on an issue where no prior answers exist. IE it tries clarify the religious standing on a matter that has risen questions. Rushdie is just being his nasty regular deuche.
